Many prayer request for several kids, relatives, and friends. Please keep all of them in your prayers.

Thanks as always for the opportunity to Q and I look forward to the next one,

6 of Gastonia’s finest on a crisp spring morning that like to start the day off with a bang.

The Thang:

Warm Up with a dice with exercises on each side of it’s octagon shape. Lunges, something else. I decided it was boring so everyone followed me back to my truck to drop off the dice which I left on the back of the truck and it is gone forever. Prop fail.

Then we headed down South street strait out from the Rotary Pavilion. By the way good job Gastonia Rotary on such a nice setup with the Pavilion, well done.

AME Zion Church stop for 10 Carolina Dry Dock, 10 Derkins, 10 Merkins with hands up on the wall. Rinse and repeat one more time.

We stopped at South and and 3rd. Partner up for 5 Hand Slap Merkins run different ways around Emmanuel Church until you get to the ramp. One person is Bear Crawling down and the other up and back to the start for 10 Hand Slap Merkins and revers directions and Bear Crawls. (Lady came out of her house that we scarred, we told her we were working out and she went back to sleep)

Mosey the rest of the way down South Street to 5th street.

Light Poles on the left were the key to this workout. We stopped at each one on the way back with an exercise. We did lots of Sumo Squats. Some Monkey Humpers and Gorilla Humpers. Lots of Merkins, Wide Arms, and Carolina Dry Dock. (The excitement was high on this one)

We made it back to AME Zion Church Wall. We did 10 Dips and 1 Step Up until we switched to 1 Dip and 10 Step Up’s.

Then everyone on the ground for some Mary. We did Bicycle(Can’t ever remember the name), Flutter Kick 20, 6 inche hold feet off ground then spread legs. (This was nice when a Millennial was staring at us from his car as we had our legs spread 6 inches off the ground. Whoopee made reference to the Millennial hair growth. Anthrax mentioned a safe space.) Then legs up high and hold it then spread apart and hold. 20 more Flutters. Recover.

Mosey back to Pavilion and everyone up on the railing. Top guy bear crawl under and get back up on bars holding plank. Rinse and repeat down and then up. (Whoopee then punched me in the arm for the record)

The Moleskin:

It was a great morning and we did not notice the colder temp or the winds except at the beginning. It is always an honor to lead the group and I look forward to the  next time.

Community Run is in the morning. Bring your family and hang out or run in the event. Put on your F3 shirts and let’s grow this group.

Gastone Mt. Mitchell I am starting to find some people to join me and will pick a date shortly.

Prayer request for all that are dealing with injuries and all that have something going on. Jesus is with you!

Convergence this Saturday in Belmont, The Yank.

Palmetto 200 is next Friday.

Prayers for all those in need!

It is always an honor and I am always humbled by all of you.

Gastone out!

Surprise Gastone is the Q!

12 men showed up for a chilly Downtown Q with Spider-man. But as he was still arriving Gastone started the workout with some warm up as the last few dragged into the workout. After quick conversation Spider-man said you can just take it because he felt bad. So with applause and cheers I gladly took the Q the rest of the way. Stroganoff seemed the most excited.

The Thang:

SSH 25

Imperial Walker 20

Follow me for a little Mosey down to South Marietta st and Second Avenue intersection.

Partner up. Partner A run to the stop light at Franklin and partner B run to the blinking red light at 3rd Avenue. At the top of each of those hill do 10 Crossfit Merkins or hand release Merkins. Come back to your partner at the middle and preform 20 Partner Merkins(Hand Slap Merkins). Switch sides after and rinse and repeat 3 times.

Mosey to the parking lot beside 2nd Avenue.

Partner Wheelbarrow to the other side of parking lot and back. (Crowd favorite we will have to do more)

Lunges to the other side of the parking lot and back. (Now we have switched to legs)

Mosey with a pause in the middle for crowd control to the bottom of the hill on South St and 4rd.

Plank with 6 inches and we held for 30 seconds. Not to bad as we work to get everyone to be able to do a good form plank for 2 minutes.

30 Sumo Squats, then backwards up the hill to 3nd. (Mumble chatter increased and Stroganoff mocked me in a voice that could only be compared to Cartman from Southpark)

20 Sumo Squats, then backwards up the hill to 2nd.

10 Sumo Squats, the backwards to up the hill to Franklin.

How convenient, we are right beside a great little wall that we can take advantage of with a little more fun.

20 Dips on my count

20 wall jump ups oyo

15 Dips on my count

20 wall jumps oyo

Mosey to the park before the Pavilion for 6 Minutes of Mary. 30 LBC’s, 20 Flutter, 6 inches (12 for Stroganoff), 20 more flutters with much laughter and might not have worked as well. Lot’s of conversation about how I knew about Stroganoff’s 12 and then something came up about Whoopee and the implant surgery.

Mosey back to Pavilion for 5 Burpee’s and done right on time.

Moleskin:

It was a good morning with a great crowd of men out to start the day off the right way. Side note if anybody is checking grammar on any of my back blast, don’t.

Announcement about Whoopee’s party that is now moved to Labor day. He is asking that everyone wear white. If you have already paid the the initial fee you can pay again and have the initial back after you attend the last party. Unless you were not in attendance then he will keep your deposit.

Prayers to all in our group that are going through something with friends or family. May God bless them in the battles ahead.

Thanks Spider-man for the opportunity to Q your workout. It is an honor as always and I look forward to the next.

To Q or not to Q

10 men rolled into the snow cone parking lot on a brisk morning in February for a Gastone Q to raise awareness for empty slots in the Q hole.

The Thang:

SSH 20

Carolina Dry Dock 10

Imperial Walker 20

Diamonds 10

Mosey from the parking lot to Riverwood Parkway

First telephone pole and at every telephone pole all the way to the “Village Ridge Hill” do 5 Burpee’s. We stayed together and did the 5 and mosey at a slower pace.

Plank

Backwards up the hill all the way to the top.

At the top we did 50 Flutters on my count and 40 LBC’s on your own.

Then 20 American Hammers all on a whisper count.

Then mosey to the botttom of the hill except for Whoopee who hit me on the arm on the way down and sprinted to the bottom without competition.

Plank, Raise right arm and then leg and the switch.

Lunge Walk to the first driveway on the left, mosey back down.

karaoke facing the right to the first driveway on the left.

Karaoke facing the left to the first driveway on the left.

Plank as all gathered.

Back up the hill but at every mailbox on the left 10 Squats. This added up and with correct form it would hurt. Try to challenge yourself if you can and make sure your form is correct on these. Your bum should go down to even with your knee’s.

At the top we planked and then mosey back down. (Defib could not take anymore and left to go home) (He had to go to work) Also, Whoopee was put in the dust on the way down by Gastone on the second trip down the hill.

We started up the hill again for every mailbox Merkins and made it halfway before I noticed the time. Mosey back down and then start heading back with a different exercise at every power pole.

20 Flutter, 20 Imperial Walker, 20 Carolina Dry Dock, 20 yards Lunges, 5 Burpee’s, LBC’s and so on.

Entered the parking lot exactly at 6:15.

The Moleskin:

I made several comments about how to sign up for a Q or subtle hints. Qing is an honor and I will be glad to Q all of the workouts but it will come at a price. We did have the next few workouts covered at Martha’s so my idea for the next few workouts will have to wait. I would like to see Turtleman and guys that have not done the Q step up and take the bull by the horns. We will be happy with your workout no matter what you bring, that is kind of what it is about.

Prayer request for my Mother In Law. Parkinson’s is a terrible disease and she is closer to the end than the beginning. She has had the disease for 20 years and she is a very strong lady. Her strength in trying not to use a wheel chair over the years or trying to keep things as they were for her family is always noticed. But, as the end is close and Hospice has come in like hero’s to the family with support in 10 different ways I try to look at all the positive impacts and laughs she has given me for the time that I have known her. I pray for her comfort and clarity over the next few months.

Overall it was another fun Monday morning with another easy workout. Thanks for letting me be the guy today and I look forward to the next one.

Gastone, out!

You might feel that in your upper calf….

7 of the non scared men awoke from bed and decided to roll in for a brisk workout.

The Thang:

25 SSH

20 Imperial Walker

10 Merkins

Follow me. Mosey to the bridge over the railroad for lunge walks across.

Mosey to behind the Sheriffs office on first set of stairs.

Everyone put one hand on a bar with both feet on a step. We did 20 jumps with a calf dip. Then both feet together for 13 3 count calf raises. Also, spread legs for 13 3 count calf raises. Rinse and repeat. Although they might not realize it now but this should leave a impressionable mark on your legs today but tomorrow will be bad.

Mosey a lap up the stairs and down the other side while I announced this is the top and then the bottom.

At the bottom 1 hand release Merkin and at the top 6 Burpee’s while making laps around up and down the stairs. While going up the stairs raise arms just while going up, I added the arm raises just because I heard some mumble chatter about not being able to see the stairs very well.

Plank at the bottom.

Mosey 10 yards away to a ramp with a long railing. Everyone on the railing while one person bear crawls under and to the other side. Rinse and repeat to the other side. Surprise once we all got to the bottom of the ramp we went back up.

Mosey back to the bottom of the stair loop for some Mary.

We did Flutter’s, 6 inches, Flutters, etc until it really hurt. At this point Roscoe noticed that the Mumble Chatter was a little low today.

Then we started our next set on the stair loop. Bottom we did 6 Carolina Dry Dock and at the top we did 1 Squat. Keep on going until we flip the number.

Plank, right arm up and then right foot then switch.

Mosey back to the bridge for Bear Crawl across with Stroganof pushing the extra 15 yards and getting the gut check.

Mosey to the railing at the Pavillion for more plank on a railing and bear crawl under until time expired.

The Moleskin:

It is great to find the one day of the last couple weeks that is very chilly. But, we overcame quick and made it happen. Such as life, some things just suck but we are men and we make it happen and pushed the rock. Then we are done and we can look back at the things that we have overcame in our life.

We had a accidental drowning of one of the F3 guys brother. I will pray for the family and for his acceptance into heaven and I hope you will as well.

Thanks for the opportunity to Q what is always a great group of men and I look forward to the next.

Gastone Out!

Da Pub

Image result for exhausted runner

5 men braved the 56 degree morning with a slight breeze. It felt great outside and I with everyday could be that exact temperature in the morning.

The Thang: We ran 5 miles.

Moleskin: 4 of us showed up for a run and Tube showed up for a Bootcamp, oops. That’s ok Tube I have showed up for things I was not expecting before and they usually give you that great pain which helps you grow maybe. First 4 miles were fellowship pace and the last mile and a half we ran at an even 8 pace to finish strong. Billy Madison and Tube ran an alternate route of maybe around 3 but made it happen.

Thanks for the honor again of being the Q.

Gastone Out!

Catch me if you can, Chumbawamba!

10 Men braved the early morning hours to join Gastone in the battle to end Sadclown syndrome.

The Thang:

Pledge to start right at 5:30am.

Chumbawamba To the song Tubthumper. Start with SSH at the beginning of song, then every time they say, “I get knocked down, but I get up again” you do a Burpee. While not doing Burpee’s you are continuously doing SSH. Lot’s of mumble chatter, that makes it better for me.

Follow me to the trail that goes around the baseball field for a little Catch me if you can. Partner up, first guy does 5 Burpee’s, second guy runs backwards. Once done with burpee run forward to catch partner then turnaround and go backwards. Rinse and repeat until we make the full circle. Oh, joy more mumble chatter.

Plank with a little right arm right foot switch and gather everyone.

Next, at the bottom of the hill partner 1 Merkins while partner 2 lunge walks up hill and runs back down. Rinse and repeat 3x.

Mosey the the wall next to the picnic area and have a seat on the wall.

Balls to the Wall, for a silent 20 count. Crowd favorite on this one. If they only knew it was easier to actually put your body against the wall. Much harder not to do so. (At this point Whoopee mentioned that we could be at the picnic area instead. So I being the good guy I am obliged.

Picnic tables, 20 Jump ups on your own. 15, 3 count dips, 25 Flutter (maybe the count was crazy), 3X

Indian Run back and then it fell apart and we just ran back.

Everyone thought it was over but we don’t want to waste the 2 minutes left so we did 3 count, Diamonds, Carolina Dry Docks, and Wide Arm Merkins.

The End.

The Moleskin: I think it was the song that set all the good spirits this morning with a classic like Tubthumper. A few people showed how happy they were with a fist bump and a few people skipped my hand and just hit me. Stroganoff will have to add the joke that I missed to the comments below, I can’t wait. We completed 1.7 miles today, we worked hard and had a good time. I like that we give time for everyone to ask for prayers and pray for all of them we do.

Thanks for the honor to Q another workout, it is great to be part of such a great group of guys. Let’s continue to grow this thing and make more great men.

Gastone Out!

11’s on a Seesaw!

12 Posted at Martha’s House for a Sadclown take down.

The Thang:

Warm Up: 25 SSH, 20 Imperial Walkers

Mosey to the baseball field

Partner up for the big circle around all four fields. One partner runs and the other does 10 Merkins then catches the other partner who does 10 Merkins. Rinse and repeat until you get back to the start.

Plank, Right arm right foot and switch while the 6 comes in.

Mosey to the middle of the circle for (10) 3 count Diamonds. I planned on this location for the rest of my Q but it would not work well.

So Mosey to the other fields.

On the soccer field at second light pole we will start with 1 Burpee then 40 yards to the sidewalk for 20 Squats, up the hill for 11 Russian Get Ups. This Seesaw is that the 20 Squats stay constant but the Burpee’s increase and the Russian Get Ups decrease until they are flipped. Thus, a See Saw of back and forth with something solid in the middle. (66 Burpee’s if you made it through the entire workout)

Mosey back to the start.

The Moleskin:

Lot’s of people really like this particular workout so much that I will bring this one out again. Defib even named it the Gastone Guillotine which seems like an appropriate name since it was tough for me as well. Sometimes when you Q it can be your hardest workout. Along the way we lost Spiderman to a phone thing with the family and I hope all is OK. Turtle-man’s knee is messing with him so he might be on the IR for short term. Missing a couple of the regular’s this morning but I assume at least 2 of them are training for an upcoming running event. Bandit Hard Committed to me but he might have been scared by the Sadclown bomb I put on Twitter. It is always an honor to Q these workouts to me and I thank you all for the opportunity.

We ended with prayer and headed out!

Gastone’s Hill of Fun

16 men showed up for a Gastone Q of pain. Nice temperature outside this morning with a nice size crowd ready to enjoy a nice weather day at the beginning of Winter with no rain but 8 feet of snow on the way. We had a little talk of the Carolina/Clemson basketball game until..

The Thang:

Interrupted Mumble Chatter to start the Q at 5:30am with 10 Diamonds

Pledge

30 SSH (Hushpuppy entered on the 3rd count but always catches up)

10 Carolina Dry Dock

30 Imperial Walker

10 Wide Arm Merkins

Follow me for a little Mosey to The Hill of Village Ridge.

Plank with some 6 inches mixed in and a little 12 inches, then right arm up and right leg and switch while the 6 gets caught up.

Then Backwards to the top. It’s a long hill so this always is a crowd favorite.

Plank and then 10 Diamonds

Mosey to the bottom of the Hill for Plank, Plank 6 inches, Plank half way down, etc.

Lunge Walks to first road on left and plank

Karaoke Left and Right to the next road on the Left. (At this point we were missing 2 people so Hushppy and Spiderman headed back to try to find them.)

Duck Walk to the next road on the left.

Backwards Run to the top. Then Plank.

Headed back down and collected Hushpuppy and Spiderman and maybe one other along the way but KFC was not to be found.

Mosey back the back entrance short cut to the park and then to the overhang with picnic tables.

Everybody on there backs with feet six inches off the ground then 90 degrees. Hold

Then we did 3 sets of 45 count first at 90 then half way down, then 6 inches.

Holding feet in the air still we did 30 3 count flutters Recover (Everyone really seemed to enjoy this part thus far)

Next 20 Dips 3 count

25 Flutter 3 count

30 LbC’s

15 Dips

Mosey back to the parking lot.

I picked up the 6 so as I got back some squats were going on as I arrived they finished so I noticed we had 1 minute left and that seemed like a good time for 10 Burpee’s. Hushpuppy suggested that they should have not stopped the squats.

Moleskin:

Overall a great morning with an awesome group of guys. KFC’s truck was no longer at the parking lot when we arrived back and I do hope that he does come back and joins us. I hate loosing a guys and everyone should keep in mind that the workouts can get hard but nobody is judging you and you should go at your own pace.  It takes time to get in shape and can be hard but we all want you at the workout. We had 2 FNG’s Brian Gerdis (Bad spelling) Bulldog and Shaun Jones Tube. Welcome to the pax and we look forward to seeing you at many more. TK retured for another and is working hard and doing great.

Thanks everyone it is always an honor to Q!
