Breath

3 PAX ran around Folsom this morning doing various exercises. There really isn’t much to say about it.  We ran and stopped to do some exercises then ran some more. Lunges were involved. A little AB work. I introduced the necky. It was a crowd favorite! Mostly we just did work and had some good conversation(especially Volt, you can’t get that guy to stop talking).

Poke

6 men gathered in the cold at Gashouse on Saturday to put in some work. Not being used to the cold yet it was hard to get out there. Obviously it was harder for those that didn’t post. We missed you! Upon the request of the Weasel Shaker I made a Christmas theme workout just to poke at Whoppee as we approach the Christmas Party. I think he went to Folsom so this BB is the poke.

Christmas Party 2017 (#2)

It’s time for the 2017 Christmas Party! I know what you’re thinking-didn’t we just have the Christmas party? Well yes but that was the 2016 party. We are going to do the 2017 party in 2017 and it will even be in the month of December!

Date and Time: Friday 12/1/17 at 7:00 pm

Where: Lotus Bar and Eatery 1941 Hoffman RD Gastonia

Cost: $30 per person

I have the upstairs balcony reserved for us. This is an evening to get together outside of a workout and break bread with your brothers. You can come solo or get a sitter and bring your M or Girlfriend(not both) and have a nice evening out.

I need to have the final numbers turned into the restaurant by 11/18 so a HC is cash in my hand. I will be circulating the various workouts over the next few weeks so squirrel your money away just in case we cross paths. I will be at The Yank this Saturday 11/4 and Gashouse(Schielle) on 11/11. Please share this info in the COT’s and plan to come out!

Cardio

15 PAX posted during a cool afternoon at Midoriyama. It’s always strange when the temps start to drop. YHC came in hot due to his M being delayed at work. T-claps to Pizza Man for leading off with the warmup. I’m not sure what all they did but they were doing burpees when I rolled in. It appeared everyone was good to go so we started to mosey.

The Thang:

We went down to the farthest soccer field for sprint intervals. It’s Tuna 200 week for some of us so I thought we all could do some prep work. We did some form of these numerous times.

Sprint to the 50 and jog to the other end

Sprint to the other end, jog back to the 50 and walk it out to the end.

Sometimes we started with 5 high knee jumps or 5 plyometric merkins. We did this for about 15 minutes give or take then went to the big hill at the dog park.

Alternating lunges up the hill and walk back down.

Left leg only lunges up the hill and walk back down. Rinse and repeat with the right leg.

Walk backwards up the hill and backwards down several times.

Sprint up and down several times.

Back to the sprint intervals. We did the same ones several more times before we started heading back. On the way back we did intervals from light pole to light pole then we finished with a cool down mosey to the park entrance and back.

COT:

SFN Christmas Town race at 37. Get signed up if you are not already! Come out to the advisory meetings and help run this thing. We are closing in on the year end and it is time for some HIM’s to step up and take on some leadership positions.

Pledge

Prayer Request- F3 Brother and family in Area 51 who lost their son, Coach K’s family member lost a child, Lil Sweets young family member received a kidney transplant. All the guys on the road this weekend for the Tuna 200.

Moleskin:

Everyone pushed hard today! Those sprints got the breathing going. Especially the full field distance. I was hoping Ash Pond was going to merlot but he fought it back. The morning after I’m regretting this a little. My knee is killing me! Def Leppard may have to run some of my race legs this weekend. It seems lately I’ve been feeling it a little more. Maybe it’s turning 38?

Blocks

17  Men including 1 FNG(wait no 18 because we can’t count) showed up at Midoriyama for a beatdown. This is how it went.

Disclaimer-These guys are idiots and I’m the brightest one out here so we are all in trouble!

Warmup:

Pledge

Don Q’s x 10ic

SSH x 10ic

Merkins x 2ic Yes that says 2. I’ve been having elbow issues and have been avoiding these. I figured I would just mess with everyone and just make them get down so they would have to get back up again.

Everyone grab two freshly purchased bricks out of my truck and let’s mosey!

The Thang:

We went to the side of the farthest soccer field. Run across with a brick, do 10 Turkish getups and run back. Rinse and repeat to the next field. Then again to farthest side of the next field. Then again to the top of the far Hill. 40 total Turkish Getups. Some guys really struggled with the Turkish Getup concept but managed to work it out by the end. Good Work! At this point we were going to use the little soccer field but a game was in process so back to where we started for some Wojo sprint work.

Everyone with bricks in hand and a foot on the line sprint all out to the opposite side of the field and fellowship mosey back. Rinse and repeat 3 times. 1 time a few PAX jumped the gun so the rest of us did Merkins while we waited for them to rejoin the team. Blart looked like Usain Bolt gliding across the field. It took me 3 steps to his 1. I felt like he was just toying with me. I’m pretty sure I saw him smiling a little.

Let’s mosey and stash the bricks. Mosey on back to the flag. Slaw brought us the big blocks to use.

Partner up. P1 wall sits. P2 does 5 Blockees. Switch and rinse and repeat until I call time. We did this for 10-15 minutes.

COT:

Announcments- T-Square: Double Amputee doing a ton of marathons coming through our area soon. Go out and run with him for support. More info coming. SFN Christmas town run now at 36! Great job by all on the Burpeethon. Let’s make it even better next year. JJ5K this weekend. 3rdF event coming up details coming.

Namerama: Welcome FNG Brilliant brought to us by Hushpuppy. They are co-workers and he says he will definitely be back. That may depend on Slaw as he seemed to have a man crush since he is a fellow Seiman I mean Seeman wait no Seaman!

Prayer Request-Ash Pond is doing much better! Pockets, PM’s Grandparents in law, Sidecars friend, Our brothers that are struggling with various issues.

Moleskin:

I had a great time out today. I hope it was worth your trip out and you got your money’s worth. Great crowd. Let’s keep it growing!

Friends

17 PAX in total at Folsom this morning. 1 FNG 2.0 and 2 visitors from Rock Hill. An old friend ,Pac Man, came up for a visit and brought Van Damme with him. Pac Man and I had some interesting times together in our youth. I will leave it at that.

The Warmup:

Let’s do the pledge. Wait where’s the shovel flag? 10 Don Q’s ic while we wait for thee flag to be posted. Ok now the we can do the pledge.

Let’s mosey a lap around the newly refinished tennis courts.

Partner up and one partner gets a block. Take turns carrying it and let’s mosey.

The Thang:

We made our way down to the stage where Pac Man used to perform some with his band back in the day. P1 does 15 donkey kicks while P2 does goofballs. Switch and do 5 rounds. This was pretty funny to watch and reminded me of what those shows used to look like.

Mosey to the lower lot.

Dora

100-overhead press

200-weighted squats

300-sandy v’s while holding the block above the chest

That went too fast let’s do some more.

50-weighted lunges

100-in/out while holding the block above the chest

150-curls

Let’s mosey to the far side of the park. I realized we were running low on time so I gave Slaw to options. He picked Iron Hulk so we turned around and took the blocks to the truck and went to the tennis courts. Man! those blocks were starting to get heavy!

Iron Hulk with everyone helping on the count.

Well we have enough time after all so we did Route 66 Bobby Hurley’s on the court. Lot’s of mumble chatter from the non direction following crowd. I had to walk them through this with baby steps.

That’s time let’s fellowship mosey back. The Rock crowd would have nothing to do with this and pushed the mosey to a sprint.

COT:

Announcements- Burpeethon next Saturday at 9 at Rankin Lake to raise money for the Special Olympics. Be There! JJ5K 9/23. Still working on an opportunity to go help with hurricane relief.

It was a beautiful morning out. We are truly blessed! It is great to spend a little time of the day surrounded by friends. Pac Man and Van Damme we will see you soon brothers! Frank Ooooooouuuuutttt!

Memory

13 PAX posted Tuesday at Midoriyama. YHC has had a full plate lately and completely forgot he had the Q. Thankfully Tooltime called to tell me he was stuck in traffic and may not make it. He called like he was calling into work….hilarious! During our conversation he advised he was calling in due to me having the Q and the risk of ridicule for missing after his Q at Folsom on Saturday. He made it and I made it so all worked out well! The PAX were warned that if I don’t have anything planned and have to create it on the fly it will probably end badly.

Warmup:

Don Q x 20ic

SSH x 15ic

Don Q’s on the ground x 10ic

Let’s mosey

The Thang:

We moseyed to the field where we keep our blocks. Partner up and one partner gets a block. At this point I think everyone thought we were going to stay there and do something…. Nope! Let’s mosey. Switch the block with your partner when needed. We had an odd number so YHC didn’t have a partner to switch with so that sucked. I was thinking about hitting the trail for a long mosey but that was out. We went to the far side of the far soccer field for some Mary.

Round 1-1 partner runs across the field the other does the exercise. You know how it works.

100-Overhead presses

200-Weighted squats

300-Leg lifts while holding the block up in the air

Round 2-

50-Weighted lunges

100-Curls

150-In/Outs while holding the block over head

Mosey back. Thanks to Pizza Man and Canteen for partnering with me on the way back! Block was getting heavy!

COT:

Signup and run at the JJ5K in Stanley. Only 15 people are registered and most of those are F3. Yet another opportunity to show our community leadership!

Prayer Request-Ash Pond battling sickness, Pockets

Moleskin:

Everyone pushed hard today. Great job! For those that haven’t Q’d a workout get on the schedule. After you do it a while it becomes second nature. You can just show up and make some pain happen. All in all we covered 2.6 miles and picked some stuff up and put it down.

38

12 PAX joined YHC downtown in the gloom this morning. Two mornings in a row there has been a forecast of 100% chance of rain and I have signed up for the Q! Two mornings in a row there has been little to no rain. Fantastic! This being my 38th birthday the mumble chatter was strong right out of the gate. I, being a mumble chatterer myself, do enjoy it but figured I could stop it. Let’s get on with it.

Warmup:

Pledge

Don Q’s x 10ic

Hillbillies x 10ic

Goofballs x 10ic

Los slow squat x 8ic

=38

Now for those of whom were at my Thursday Q I apologize for this one. None will ever live up to “The greatest spectacle to ever be seen”!

The Thang:

Mosey to the parking deck. Mosey to the top doing Joe Hendricks on the ramps. Man that got tough on the last few! I noticed a few PAX were doing Jane Hendricks but I won’t mention any names. Mosey back down 1 level and partner up.

11’s of sort. We only used the numbers 3 and 8 and did 10 rounds. 3ic patty cake merkins or hand slap merkins where we started. Then P1 runs up to the far end of the next level to the wall and does 8 donkey kicks. P2 does the same but goes down 1 level. Return and meet your partner for another round. This time you switch which way you run. Having an odd number I jumped in as the third wheel. My group struggled a bit with the ic merkins. We had it down by round 4 but lost it again by round 6. By round 8 we had it in perfect form and finished strong! Now I’ll give my partners some slack because they have much more important things to think about like saving lives and protecting the community. I noticed shortly into this exercise that the mumble chatter stopped.

Mosey down to the lowest level doing crabwalks down the ramps.

Partner up with a different partner. P1 runs up the deck to the top via the ramps. P2 runs up the stairs and runs until he meets his partner. We did 10 patty cake WWI’s then ran back down. Switch and do it again.

Running low on time we only did 1 round of my prison cell workout. 5 Burpee’s then a wall crawl to BTTW.

Start the mosey back. We stopped at the steps near Main St for 5 calf raises on each step. Finish the mosey back.

Circle up for one of my favorites The Iron Hulk(Jack Webbs at a 1:4 ratio). Why are my hands so heavy? That’s time!

COT:

Announcements-SFN get signed up for Christmas town 5k, Burpeethon get signed up early see The Mayor or YHC, JJ5K September 23rd in Stanley, Possible serve opportunity coming up to go  help with Harvey cleanup.

Prayer Request and close with Prayer

Moleskin:

Even though I’ve been involved with F3 for several years now I still see myself as a recovering sadclown. That guy is always there nagging at me to go back to my old ways. I guess it is like sin that you always have to battle with to do better. It’s always there it just gets easier to deal with.  The best tool I have to deal with it is my brothers. The old me would not have wanted to start his birthday like this. Thanks to the guys I now surround myself with I couldn’t think of a better way to start the day. As a matter of fact I’m writing this at 3:00pm at work and that has been the best part of my day so far. Well beside my kid giving me a card she made with a gift of sky diving. I’m still deciding on whether my wife paid enough for the parachute or not! Anyway thanks to all the PAX for the birthday wishes and helping me be better than I was yesterday.

Rain

So the forecast from the weather man was 100% chance of rain. Which means 50% real chance. Many, I believe didn’t even set their alarm clocks. 5 other men posted to see what I would look like at 37 for the last time. They were rewarded with the greatest workout in F3 Gastonia history. I mean this workout was insane! Some would use words like awesome, unbelievable, ridiculous, mind blowing, and mind numbing. People were laughing. People were crying. Burn boot camp shut the doors, turned off the lights and went home. Someone died and someone was born. Street lights went off in the dark. Roosters crowed even though it wasn’t time. Flowers bloomed. There was a partial lunar eclipse and a full solar eclipse all at the same time! We saw trains but they made no noise. The grass was wet but dry to the touch. There was a fire but it didn’t burn. I mean it was crazy.

The Thang:

I’ll never tell. Show to know!

COT:

Pledge

Announcements- SFN sign up, Burpeethon-you better be there!, JJ5K in Stanley, Possible trip to the gulf to help out

Prayer Request- Wet Nuts friends Son, Those affected by Harvey

Suggestions

8 PAX took the DRP at Folsom this morning. Def Leppard couldn’t sleep so what else would he do. Allen Tate was a little late but Sparky was early? A little confusing!

Warmup:

Pledge

Let’s mosey. Down the road hill we went. Did a few SSH and Don Q’s.

The Thang:

On the way down the hill Roadie suggested we NUR……so we did. Back up the hill with exercises at the top and bottom. Rinse and repeat a few times. Mosey to the shed for some dips ic. Mosey around to the other side of the park for route 66. I asked DL for an exercise but his mind was trying to sleep so we did Bobby Hurley’s. Mosey up the road stopping for some variety of merkins. Mosey to the steps at the horse track for dips, box jumps and step ups. Mosey toward the prison. We stopped short as the work release bus was there ans Sparky was afraid they may pick a few of us up. Sprint toward the road about 50 yds and do 5 burpees. Sprint back and do 5 sumo squat jump. Rinse and repeat 3 or 4 or 5 times. Let’s start heading back. Huck suggested we lunge instead of run. So we did. Zombie walk for about 40-50 yds. Mosey back and circle up.

COT:

Announcment-Burpeethon Sept 16 at Rankin Lake 9 am mandatory to all PAX, SFN signup!!!!!, JJ5k in Stanley Sept. 23rd.

Prayer Request

Moleskin:

All in all we covered somewhere around 2.5 miles. For a group that claims they don’t run they put it down this morning! Great work guys! YHC read an article about Ranger training that talked about mental prep. The trainer said he tells the guys to check themselves by asking these questions everyday. Am I the man I want to be? How am I working toward that? What is stopping me? These apply to all of us in many places in our lives and as a whole. So tomorrow ask yourself.
