We wrapped up July at Members Only

YHC arrived at an empty parking lot at 6:21 today.  That looks like it might be GoldDigger’s car, maybe.

Tesla rolls in a 6:28, then Tiger and Sprinkle at 6:29:30.

Two rucked, three ran.  (GoldDigger ran before we ran, while we ran, and was still running after we ran.)

Paintings, Bearclaws, & Burpees

Garibaldi Fest, the largest April arts and music festival in Belmont, was ramping up in Stowe Park as the PAX started out at the Yank.  There were people painting stuff and setting up booths. There was also a guy sitting on a side-by-side vehicle, enjoying an enormous danish or bearclaw or something while he watched us do burpees.

We welcomed an FNG that Tesla brought out,,  Chris Hardin, who will forever be known as “Old MacDonald” with “Respect”  in the Gloom. (Technically, Old MacDonald posted at The Bunker with HIPAA, but we all welcomed him and named him )

Public safety announcement:  Apparently we had safety concerns from local drivers about the PAX being in the road while we did our reps for the BLIMPS set.  It would have been safer and less stressful to drivers if we had been on the sidewalks.   As SiteQ, I’ll reinforce that street safety practice with each Q at The Goat, (and myself).

Nice smells and Not-So-Nice smells at The Labyrinth

Grabbed a chance to Q across town at The Labyrinth.  It was YHC’s first time to The Labyrinth.  It was dark, but it looked strangely similar to that other AO called the The Sandlot.

It was a comfortable 50 degrees, and the rain held off.

Up until about 5:28am, Dirt was concerned that it would just be him and YHC.  (If that had been the case, YHC was thinking to abandon the ‘ol Weinke completely and just make it a running workout.)

Well, the clock kept ticking, and a few more PAX rolled in by 5:30.   At about 5:32, the 7th and final PAX made his grand entrance.

YHC was glad to see 4 new faces from the Gastonia crew in the Gloom.

DISCLAIMER:

Adjust and Modify as necessary.   Push yourself!  …but that doesn’t mean push yourself to the point of injury, especially if you already have a known issue.

YHC re-iterated the disclaimer:  I’m not a professional and I definitely don’t know what kinds of issues you PAX have!

WARMUP:

  • SSH (because who knows what kinds of strange things would happen in the Gloom if you don’t start out with SSHs)
  • Imperial Walkers
  • Good-Morning-Burpees   (combo of Alarm Clock + Burpee.   -Sorry you missed them, Radar)

THE THANG

Mosey to Martha, stopping every once in a while for 10 reps of various exercises

Dirty 11’s :  w/ Hammers and Merkins, Burpee in the middle

Mosey to fieldhouse

The mumblechatter topics included US legislation that is in the works to do away with Daylight Savings Time.   The PAX wondered what the implications would be for the Gloom.  More importantly, if DST went away, how would anyone know when to replace batteries in their smoke detectors?

Partner B.O.M.B.S:   Burpees (25x), Overhead Press (50x), Merkins (75x), Big Boy Sit-ups(100x), and Squats (125x)   Partner runs around fieldhouse

A dessert-like smell was emanating out of the Fieldhouse.   The PAX were trying to determine what it was.  Most PAX thought it was “some kind of Banana” dessert.  it smelled great.

Then there were others smells that started right about the time that the PAX were doing Big Boy Sit-Ups and Squats.  Those smells did not smell great.

Mosey a little to the bleachers for Dips, then Dirty Calves (in honor of Dirt)

Mosey, stopping every once in a while for a PAX-called exercise.  Some PAX counted cadence for their pick.

Indian Run back to StartEx, stopping for some reps of various exercises.

Glad to join the Labyrinth crew!

YHC was surprised that there was a considerably-sized group of ladies who walk in the Gloom at around 5:20-ish.   As YHC drove away, it looked like they were doing a Circle-Up or Disclaimer or something.  They probably should have a name for their group, maybe with a Letter-Number combination.

Glad to lead this group of PAX today!

8 PAX and 1 Truck at the The Ricky Bobby

8 PAX at The Ricky Bobby

At 5:20am, as YHC drove secretly behind the school to set up cones for the beatdown, a unfamiliar car rolled up on YHC in the gloom.  YHC thought it was likely some do-gooder from the general public who wanted to harass/tell YHC that he shouldn’t be prowling around on school grounds, yadda, yadda, yadda.    However, once this person got out of their car, it was obviously a PAX dressed and ready for some work.  He asked me where he should park, since he was new to this AO (or something like that).   I asked if he was a PAX posting Downrange, and he said yes.  I asked from where, and he replied,  “Folsom” .

There were 3 new faces, at least for YHC:   El Camino, Hannibal, and also Bird-Dog who was making his 3rd  appearance in his first week of F3.

During Name-O-Rama, a Truck tried run us down, but YHC and the PAX were quick on our feet and got out of the way.  (This was all captured on video, too.)

Added a “QSource Nugget” at COTthat YHC  saw while downrange at every workout COT and AO in F3-Katy, TX:     ~2 minutes of Leadership-  and Character-building talk in the morning never hurt anyone.

Explained Slack to new-ish PAX, who were unaware of it.   YHC sent these guys an invitation link to Slack before they left.   (We must do better at sharing the basics with PAX, so they don’t go a year without awareness of our primary communications tool.)

WARMUP

(Side Straddle Hops, Goofballs, and Good Morning Burpees)

THE THANG

Mosey to back parking lot

BLIMPS Suicides, Stacked;   (I’m not sure what alternative name we’re supposed to be calling them now)

Bear Crawl Plank Relay  (All PAX hold plank in a circle, while one-by-one, relay-style,  a single PAX does Bear Crawls around the circle.)

Mosey to the Track

11’s with Dips and Big Boys, across the width of the field    (Demo for newer PAX this included an math lesson about which numbers you can add together to get to 11.)

Ran on the track, stopping every 100m for unannounced # of reps, IC;   Burpees, Flutters, MonkeyHumpers, and Incline Merkins.

Back for StartEx to knock out some Side Straddle Hops, until time was up.

Time!

Courage is “Setting aside fear to to turn Hardship into Grace”

Courage is not the absence of Fear.

    • Fear is a natural state that can and must be governed.
    • Fatigue makes cowards of us all.
    • Grace is keeping your head when everyone around you is losing theirs.

Read more about it here:  https://f3nation.com/q/courage/
