Prisoner takeover

There was a good crowd at PB this morning and at 0530 they scattered like flies and ran all over DTown. Various distances, various routes and all putting in the work. Great to see Def get back at it after taking a month off to let his calf heal. Flintstone and Gavel made the trip over, Ball Joint and Wichita got in about 7 miles and something was mentioned about Bods by Gods when Wichita and Westside went shirtless in the COT.

Midoriyama Murph

Luckily the clouds appeared at Midoriyama just as the PAX rolled in. This was the first bootcamp Q for YHC since the injury in early March so the “cooler” weather was appreciated. Nine total for the workout and here’s what happened:

Pledge

No warmup, you’re warm enough already

Grab a block and drop it at the turd shack, we’re doing the Midoriyama Murph!

Run to the end of the road at the big soccer fields, around the lot and back.

100 overhead press

200 merkins

300 squats

Run the same route again

Defib finished in about 7 minutes, but the rest of us lagged behind a little. There seemed to be a lot of mumble chatter about his hair, merkin form and the way he treats his patients during a stress test.

After this we did 100 curls, 200 LBC’s and 300 flutter kicks which took us to the end.

What a morning

Highlights from the run…..

  • Wichita ran shirtless in ranger panties and was able to flex and pose as he ran through town at a sub 8 pace
  • Sister Act followed Wichita and drool was seen flowing from his mouth
  • Sparky showed early to run 5, but only got in 1 mile due to visiting every bathroom and porta john in Dallas
  • Round  Up followed Sparky’s lead and also hit the porta john
  • Double Stack showed late and didn’t know to be back by 0600 so he pushed the rock until 0615

Highlights from the word…

  • Leadership lessons from King David
    • To be God’s leader requires Patience
    • To be God’s leader requires Humility
    • To be God’s leader requires Courage
    • To be God’s leader requires Faith
    • To be God’s leader requires Grace

Tripping vs. Falling

Running, walking, merkins, weight vests and trips to the port a potty were all spotted at The Sword this morning.

Afterwards we discussed the difference between tripping and falling.

Psalm 37:23-24 – “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”

Blocks and Yoga

A shin injury combined with the amount of PAX running relays this weekend led YHC to reach out to Tube earlier this week to propose a combined Bootcamp / Pain Lab workout. He was all in and after a discussion later in the week a plan was formulated. Nine experienced PAX and a FNG were present as the clock struck 0700 and we got to work.

We did a modified version of an Iron Pax workout that kept the heart rate up and provided a full body workout.

Do exercises in sets of 25.. After 25 reps jog 25 yards, perform 3 flying squirrels and jog back to continue exercise.
200 curls

175 LBC’s

150 OH press

125 American Hammers

100 Goblet squats

75 tricep extensions

50 lunges each leg

25 HR Merkins

We had to modify the last few exercises due to time and I turned it over to Tube.

Tube finished us off with some DDPY. I’ve seen the acronym, but never knew what it was. After doing it, I wish I still didn’t know. It’s yoga and it ain’t easy.

Welcome Tyler Patterson, now known as Orange Peel and EH’ed by Bondo. Great to see Clavin and thanks to him for talking through the 5 Core Principles with the FNG. Strong work by the PAX this morning and I appreciate Tube letting me combine the workouts and Whoopee for putting me on the Q schedule.

Storming the Shoulders

20 PAX showed at The Storm this morning and my guess is that at least half of them did EC. Strong work men!

Standard stuff at the start with a few burpees thrown in for trains that may, or may not, have passed by.

Mosey over to the main parking lot for some Dirty 11’s. IW Squats on one side and Hip Slappers on the other with 5 HR Merkins each time you cross the islands.

Time now for some suicides the long way across the parking lot. 5 Mike Tysons each time at the start and Flutter Kicks IC at each set of spaces. Increase reps by 10 at each line finishing with 50 Flutter Kicks IC.

Still plenty of time, so let’s knock out a round of Lindsey’s at the front of the school. 30 Derkins/10 Dips, 25 Derkins/15 Dips, 20 Derkins/20 Dips, 15 Derkins/25 Dips, 10 Derkins/30 Dips

Six minutes of Mary and time is up.

Coupons at The Sandlot

Due to a nagging leg injury, YHC decided to bring a Pain Lab style workout to the southside on Monday. 11 PAX decided to join in on the fun and 1 other went on a walkabout with a rucksack full of weight. Here’s what happened….

Grab a coupon and rifle carry across the street to the bank parking lot for a 20 to 1 Countdown.

20 – Curls, Goblet Squats, Chest Press, Big Boys (drop the coupon for this one)

19 – Curls, Goblet Squats, Chest Press, Big Boys….

Repeat all the way down to one.

There was a little complaining during the Big Boy portion of this and some even continued the objection on Slack later on. Sorry Dirt!

Still some time left and we’re about 160 reps short of hitting 1000 for the workout.

20 American Hammers IC then rifle carry across the lot for 20 Flutter Kicks IC. Shoulder carry back, then rinse and repeat with 15 reps, 10 reps and 5 reps. Counting the warmup that should get us to 1000 and time is up.

I’ve been dealing with a shin issue for over three weeks and last week was told to take it easy for another couple of weeks. Everyone has their own definition of taking it easy and my first thought was to just shut it down, find some substitute Q’s for my workouts, bail out of the upcoming relays and enjoy the fartsack. But that thought process doesn’t fit with F3. We have Pain Lab workouts that I can attend, I can modify as necessary, other team members will be there to step in and pick up my legs in relays and most important, MY BROTHERS WILL BE THERE TO SUPPORT ME! I’ve said many times that you come to a workout as much for the man beside you as you do for yourself and I’d like to say “Thank You” to all of you for your support of not only me, but all the PAX of F3 Gastonia.
