Shoes 10/31 for Charlotte Rescue Mission

This Saturday 10/31 at our Anniversary Convergence we are collecting athletic shoes in support of the F3 Metro Shoe Drive. These shoes will be delivered to the men in need at the Charlotte Rescue Mission. Please bring them Saturday send them with someone if you can’t make it, or reach out to BOS to arrange a meeting point. See program details below.

AYE! BOS

By now you’ve probably heard of the F3 Metro shoe drive to benefit the men at the Charlotte Rescue Mission. While they can use all sorts of donations, the focus of this effort is men’s athletic shoes. The purpose is to make sure any man in the Rebound program who wants to participate in the Mission I’m Possible workout at 9am on Saturday doesn’t have to sit out because he doesn’t have the right footwear.
The criteria is straight forward. Look in your closet for running shoes that still look reasonably presentable and have some life left. When deciding if an old pair of shoes is too far gone or not, I always like to say imagine you are personally handing this pair of shoes to a man at CRM. Do you feel good about your gift, or are you a little embarrassed? You get the idea.

We have all bought a pair of shoes that felt great in the store, but we realized in the second mile of the first run they weren’t going to work. Or maybe you have a pair of running shoes that still look good, but they are starting to get a few too many miles on them for serious running. Perfect. We’ll take them…

Fighting Yank Pumpkinfest

Many of our F3 brothers started their day early with some extra credit this morning.  Well done!  As I approached Stowe Park around 6:30 am there were already F3 vehicles lining the street.  As the numbers grew so did the mumblechatter and it wasn’t even 7am.  At 7:00:05 YHC was accused of having a slow watch.  Our three FNGs were identified, legal briefing completed and we were off.  There was not enough room for 28 guys to warmup on the sidewalk.  Across the tracks to the parking lot behind the barber shop.

Warm up:

SSH x 25 IC/ Abe Vagoda x 25 IC This is where the mumblechatter got serious and I knew I was in for a long morning.  Imperial Walkers x 25 IC / Mtn. Climbers x 25 IC & 10 Burpees OYO.

Mosey down the road to the church Pumpkin Patch.  Grab a Pumpkin and circle up.  Not kidding…grab a Pumpkin and circle up.

Round one:

Pumpkin Curls x 20 IC / Pumpkin OH Press x 20 IC / Pumpkin Hammers x 20 IC / Pumpkin Squat x 20 IC / Brief pause to knockout 5 Burpees for the passing train.  Back to our Pumpkins.  Pumpkin Shoulder Press L/R x 10 OYO It was at this point that Oblivious bounced his Pumpkin off the pavement.  No damage but made for a good laugh.  / Pumpkin Sit Ups x 20 IC / Pumpkin Tricep Extensions x 20 IC / During PTEs I was informed there was a Belmont Police Cruiser behind me.  So we skipped the lunges and finished up with Pumpkin Overhead Flutters x 20 IC.

Audible:

Skip the Bear Crawl and forget Round two.  Return your Pumpkins and lets hit the road before some gets locked up.  Cross the street for 25 IC Monkey Humpers for the neighbors.  More mosey and partner up at the bottom of the hill for some Dora.  Partner 1 runs to fire hydrant at top of hill and returns to take over exercises.  Partner 2 begins exercises.  100 Merkins / 200 Flutters  /  300 Squats and 400 LBCs suggested by Dirt.  Mosey back to the Yank with a NUR up the hill on the way.  Sorry Mary not today.  We are out of time.

Thank you for playing along.  We had a great turnout today topped off with three FNGs!  Keep EHing guys and reach out to brothers who have been missing lately.

The Stairs and Bridge to Nowhere

Twelve men cruised into Cramerton this beautiful morning to start their day with some shenanigans at The Goat.  Our workout plan was the product of my 2.0 McKenzie, aka Musicbox.  I mentioned today was my day to Q and she lit up with ideas.  We scouted the AO last week for painful opportunities and in the end found the Stairs and Bridge to Nowhere.  This morning she gained some praise and a few groans along the way.  It went something like this…

Warm up with 10 SSH IC / 15 Cotton Pickers IC / 20 Imperial Storm Troopers IC / 20 Moroccan Night Clubs IC  (In case you didn’t catch it… that represents todays date. 10/15/2020.  Smart kid.)

Mosey to Bridge  – Lieutenant Dan across Bridge  (Lunge – Lunge – Squat)

Mosey to Split Rail Fence – 20 Incline Merkin IC / 10 Decline Merkin OYO

Mosey back to Bridge – Bear Crawl across.

Mosey around town  square to Stairs for some Dora.

Partner Up!  Partner #1 runs up stairs, 5 Merkins in parking lot, run around building and back.

Partner #2 Starts off the 100 Merkins / 200 Monkey Humpers / 300 LBCs and because they were so darn fast 400 Squats.  She said we wouldn’t need them but we did.

Mosey around town square again with a stop for 25 Dips at the Gazebo.

Time for some Mary… “Nope too early.  We have 10 minutes” says Orangeman.  “We can go back to the Bridge.” say Orangeman.  I won’t repeat what the others said at this point.

Mosey to the bridge again.  Cross Lieutenant Dan style and turn back for another Bear Crawl.

Now we Mosey to Mary.

A few rounds of Merkin Clock and some Pretzel Crunches called out by Tesla and that’s a wrap.

Prayer requests – Fife’s Family – His wife’s Grandmother is sick with Covid.

Orangeman’s Daughter and Family – Upcoming surgery for his oldest daughter.

Announcements –   Brew Ruck Saturday 10/17.  Look for pre blast info from Freight.

Convergence Saturday 10/31.  Look for pre blast info from Broke.

It was a pleasure leading today.  Way to get after it!  We finished quicker than we had planned.  I’ll remember that next time.

Sprint, Mosey & Sharknado at The Yank

If the local weather men and women were correct we were in for a whole lot of rain Friday night and right through the day on Saturday.  But they weren’t as usual so I changed up my game plan the night before for nothing.  Either way 16 men spent the morning with me at the Fighting Yank doing a little more running than they wanted to.  Here is how it went…

Mosey to Two Chicks parking lot for some warm up.

SSH x 15, Grass Pickers x 15, IST x 15, Moroccan Night Club x 15, Stretch – to your toes, to your left foot and then to your right foot.  Then 5 burpees just because.

Line up & Indian run around the block to end up behind Sammy’s

Break up into three lines of sprinters.  Time for some sprints.  100 yard dash & Mosey back to start.  All three lines down and back for 1 minute of Mtn. Climbers.  Line up & Repeato 9X substituting Mtn Climbers for Jump Squats, Merkins, Flutter Kicks, Freddie Mercury, CDDs, LBCs and more.  In round two we lost our brother Pilgrim’s Progress to his nagging hamstring injury.  He was in sprint mode when his leg said that was enough.  Sorry again about the sprints brother.  With the 100s behind us I checked my watch and called an audible to forget about running the 50s.  Lets not have any more injuries.

Next on the weinke , a mosey to the park bathrooms to grab some wall and catch our breath.  People’s chair with some air presses, right leg up, left leg up.  Recover and we are off to the new park pavilion.  Because it was supposed to be raining…remember.

In observance of Shark Week we partnered up for a Sharknado around the fountain.  Partner one starts the run to the fountain, takes three laps around and returns to pavilion while partner two begins 100 merkins, 200 LBC and 300 squats.  Switch until all 600 are complete.

Circle up back under the pavilion for some Jack Webbs x (audible) 8, followed by flutter kicks, LBC, and 5 burpees called by Boudin.

Final mosey to The Fighting Yank statue for the Pledge, Name o rama and prayer lead by TopHat.

Today we prayed for safe travels for Tesla’s son headed to DC. ALL of the school teachers, administrators, students of all ages, and parents too.  Our brothers newly injured and those on IR.  First Responders and the health of our great nation.

Until next time!  BOS
