COP:

SSH X 20

IW X 20

Mountain Climbers X 20

Merkins X 20

Mosey up the hill and to the old ball field and the stairway to heaven.

5 burpees for the train.

Bear crawl to first base.

Broad jump to second base

Crab walk to third base

Burpee broad jump home

Back to the bleachers

3 sets, 10,15, 20

steps ups  each leg

Run to the top of the bleachers

stagger arm Merkins.

Mosey back down to the gazebo aka the mosque as we find HIPPA there doing pull ups in his bomb suit! Seems he missed the 5:30 am out of Cramerton and couldn’t find us. So we found him.

We did this:

Pull ups X 10

dirkins X10

LBCs X 10

bottom of the green: 10 SSH

Top of the green: 10 plank jacks.

Rinse and repeat

Time for Mary in the grass:

Maktar Jhias X 10

Oblique crunches 10X each leg.

Done!

NMM:

15 Minute Abs, and some other stuff

Today was pretty much a recycled weinke from Saturday. Since Def Leppard and I were the only ones at Folsom this weekend (due to CSAUP), I figured it’ll still be new to the group. Plus, my abs were sore for 2 days after Saturday so obviously it worked!

There was fartsacking left and right this morning. Hard for me to say much, I sacked Monday and Wednesday on lifting at Sparky’s and couldn’t post Tuesday myself due my kid’s field trip. Some guys had work obligations, some were tired…but I honestly it feels like the numbers have been a little lighter at Folsom the past few weeks overall. This isn’t a New Year’s resolution workout, this is F3. I want to challenge all of you to get out and post…and if you can’t post in the morning, hit the JV workout at 5:30 PM over at Midoriyama (It isn’t so JV, I promise!). I am pushing myself to get to Gastonia in the morning IF I don’t have to work all night. Walk the walk!

That being said we had 3 BMFs…errrr…HIMs at Folsom this morning. Here’s the summary.

Warm-a-rama

  • SSH 15 IC
  • Mountain Climbers 15 IC
  • Appalachian Americans 10 IC

I wanted to break up the routine a little so we cut across the grass and mosey to the upper picnic shelter. In 3 months, I’ve never seen us use it. The lights were already on so it was just calling our names.

  • Shoulder Tap Merkins 15
  • LBCs 20
  • Dips 15
  • Step Ups 15 IC

Rinse and repeat (25 LBCs the 2nd time…felt 20 wasn’t enough)
Rinse and repeat a 3rd time. Now we’re warmed up!

Quick mosey back to the parking lot for a pledge at the shovel flag. MW brings it every day and we rarely use it. Let’s do so today!

Let’s Mosey – we cut across the grass again, MW accuses me of not knowing where I was going. He’s only partially right. We mosey to the fork in the road….I’m looking at the small hill in the median and thinking…..nah, that hill is for punks. We are High Impact Men. Continue another 30 ft for the big hill.

  • Triple Nickels – 5 Burpees up top, 5 Squats at the bottom, 5 rotations. Medicine Woman was really pushing the pack on this one. I put my hands on my knees a few times TBH, but we all pushed through. Volt was probably cussing me but I couldn’t hear him so on we go!

I know Medicine Woman is a runner and all so let’s give him some mosey because, frankly there has been little mosey to this point. Down the road and around the pond to the lower shelter. MW is the first to notice unmistakable signs of a skunk. As we approach the lower shelter it’s getting worse. Let’s mosey on boys! We didn’t smell it in the upper shelter earlier, hopefully that’s still the case.

Now let’s get those abs in gears. As I mentioned on Twitter, we are turning 12 packs into 6 packs today! I was going to call the ab workout 15 Minute Abs” because everything was going to be a quantity of 15. Ironically, we do have about 15 minutes left.

  • 15 LBCs to the left knee, 15 to the center, and 15 to the right
  • Sandy Vs 15 OYO
  • LBC variation – cross the right leg, go to the right knee 15 times, cross the left leg, go to the left knee 15 times (thanks for the tip Leppard)
  • Big Boys 15

Rinse and Repeat. I don’t think we made the 3rd set but honestly, I can’t remember for sure. Time was winding down. so a quick mosey around the lower parking lot and back up the hill to the parking lot.

Time!

COT –
Prayer requests for Chasity (sorry, forgot the last name) who found her mother dead earlier this week. Sad stuff! Also, I ask for prayer at work – implementing a new ERP system has been working me to death but it’s almost over! YHC took us out in prayer. Reminder about the 3rd F event at Parkwood Friday night. I hope I can make it but depends on work and what time I get out.

It was an honor to lead today. Felt like I hadn’t worked out in weeks even through it had just been 4 days. I could tell it in my endurance already though! Get out there and push your rock guys. We need less invisible men, more HIMs! See you in the gloom!

Great morning with lots of good guys. Bear joined us about halfway in when he found us for his first but he made it. 5 minutes late with a hundred directions to turn can make for a hard find. Welcome Bear. Gastone, made several count errors. I guess my brain was not working fully but I still put out a bootcamp worth attending. Timeframe did ask if I had a Winky when we started, I always have a Winky.

Prayers for Clavin, hope your knee heels with great speed and we will miss you out and about while you are on the IR. Please everyone reach out to Clavin, it’s hard not to be present.

Gastone Out!

Pull Me Up

16 strong at warming Midoriyama on a beautiful day in a crowded park. Great to see a big crowd so let’s get after it. Tool Time and Pizza Man were running so off they went at their super quick pace while the rest of us hit the warmup.

SSH x 10 IC, Cotton Pickers x 10 IC, Hillbillies x 10 IC, Pledge

Longish mosey around the softball fields to the middle parking lot where Sidewalk Chalk of Pain listed an exercise in 5 parking spots. Pick a parking spot to start and after the exercise run to the end of the parking lot around the trash can and back, then to the next spot. 10 Burpees, 20 Flutters, 30 CDD’s, 40 Squats, 50 Seal Jacks. I started in the CDD’s parking spot, of course. Everyone completed a full round, several completed a couple of extra spots. Mosey back to the flag, just because YHC forgot some needed items #QFail1. After a quick count off, mosey back to the small soccer field where a nice layout of various coupons await.

This is the No Soccer Arms portion of the workout. The larger armed guys (Defib, Slaw, Canteen and maybe one other) selected the larger blocks and many selected the half blocks and a few of us the smallest blocks. Curls x 30, On Your Six Chest Presses x 30, Tricep Curls x 30, Shrugs x 30 and Yes, Repeat.

With some time left, we set up for Frisbee Rules Football and count off by 2’s to split the teams that somehow we messed up #QFail2. Lots of scoring, no defensive penalties since Freight wasn’t here. Our play was throw it high to Easy Rider and it worked several times. I’m quite sure my team won, as usual when I write the backblast.

Mosey back to the flag.

Announcements: 3rd F Event at the Porch at Parkwood Friday at 7 pm, Speed for Need at the Community Foundation Run 5K this Saturday at 9 am.

COT remembering the ones mentioned. Remember Canteen as he is getting married in a few weeks. My son Logan is still having seizure problems.

*We ran over 2 miles and over 400 reps performed. Great to see Slaw back from work. Great to see Short Sale, Easy Rider, Roadie and Hipaa in the afternoon. Great to see Lil Sweet and Sidecar back with us. Gomer is back and feeling better but with a cracked rib. I forgot to share a word with the guys #QFail3 at the end about a 30 second video. The video shows a group of military guys easily going over a 10 foot wall working together. I meant to say how a man by himself could never get over that wall but together they not only did it, but did it in less than 30 seconds. That’s what having a group of your guys can do. They can pull you up and over walls you never could manage by yourself. This morning on the F3 Q Source tweet a guy named Bill Nye was talking about being the Q while still being injured. His question was how do I push these guys when most of them could leave me behind very quickly? I was struggling through the same question but my guys pulled me up and over that wall with them today. This is a reminder to keep asking guys to post. Keep checking on guys that need to come back. Keep posting yourself to help lift that guy that needs it.

My Pleasure

Gastone made a call to the PAX Sunday evening to take over Q for The Black Knight Monday AM due to him being “sick”. I informed him it would be “My Pleasure” to take the Q. All honesty one of the main reasons I wanted to take the Q was to ensure that no one else would take it and do some crazy long, exhausting leg workout after running in the CSAUP on Saturday. My legs are literally still on fire from that, but IMHO well worth it. I immediately went to work on a quick weinke, and here is how it went:

Pledge

Warmup:

15 – SSH – IC

100 – Moroccan Night Clubs – IC  (We did 100 IC because I called JK2 out when he said “I bet we won’t do 100!”)

Mosey to Martha’s parking lot

The Thang:

Before we started I told the guys a couple of things:

1) My legs were shot so we will focus on upper body (Pretty sure I got an Amen from JJ and Defib on that)

2) That we often neglect biceps in our workouts and that I wanted to throw some into the mix

Let’s begin:

We are working the length of the parking lot changing exercises at each island

  1. 15 Pseudo Planche Merkins – IC (Heard the grunts on these)
  2. 10 – Diamond Merkins – IC
  3. Crab walk about 20 feet
  4. 15 – Mini Dips – IC
  5. 15 – Mike Tysons – IC

Round 1 done so we circled up for a Circle Burp. Everyone planks while 1 does a burpee. When person ends burpee next person goes. We went around twice.

Rinse and repeat

Mosey to picnic shelter for some “Dippin’ & Dabbin'”

  1. 15 – Regular dips – IC
  2. 20 – Derkins – OYO
  3. 15 – Bench dips – IC

Mosey to pull-up bar. Again with trying to work some bicep exercises in we are going to do chin-ups. everyone lineup and plank while person 1 does 5 chin-ups. Next guy goes til all finished. That was fun so let’s do it again.

Mosey back to picnic shelter.

Everyone grab a pole for some bicep rows and do 50 OYO.

*DisclaimerI did not get this exercise from the Paper Doll Lounge, although Defib looked like he really, really enjoyed this. You know he be strippin’ in the evenings!

Mosey back to start for 1:42 of flutter kicks to the “My Pleasure” song by Jaron Myers.

5 miler – All hale to Short Sale!

It was a brutal run if I’m being humbly honest with how great of a job I did, I mean come on – I’m Sargento – the Big Cheese. Great things are expected of me and I’m here to deliver. So I designed a challenging course to mosey from Publix to Martha River’s Park and back – just a little over 5 miles. To my astonishment, I learned from Defib this was not a virgin voyage, but there are only so many routes from the center spoke of The Pub. It was a mixed crew of various levels but no disclaimer was provided – everyone knows to run at your own peril, right? So 0530 hit and we were off at a torrid pace. Defib is in the home stretch of his marathon training and I’m working up for a half-thon (that is a code name us runners like to throw around when we talk shop). Yeah, I’ve got a lot of options for my next “thon” – probably going to get on the road to Waco – not Texas but Cleveland County – I’ve always wanted to run by the fair and maybe grab a turkey leg – kind of like the Krispy Kreme run in Raleigh – of course that is a meager five mile run and not a “thon.” But that brings me back to this backblast. I was completely amazed that Short Sale sprinted ahead of me and Defib. Let it be known that I personally recruited him to run the Tuna last year and put him in the Emotional Headlock once again for this Fall’s Bourbon Chase and I secretly pushed him to the 2nd most miles of the entire race (second only to YHC of course!) but even more than our secret weapon QWEEESH. So it was like one of those proud papa moments to see the little seed I’ve cultivated shoot past me on the run. But like the first time Queso beat me in basketball – wait no one is supposed to know that…but it was like that moment (lucky three point shot by my boy). So I suggested to Defib I should catch him because I was in fact The Q and the Q leads, not follows. The Q does not follow! Defib said I should leave because he was patronizing me as he really wanted to perform the Burpee Mile and I was annoying him. So he started doing burpees and I took off. I finally caught my young protégée as he arrived at the entrance to Snoballs (site of my Wednesday Q – anyone else go 5 days in a row? Oh, sorry Mr. Gastone…anyone else attempt 5 straight Q’s? As Charlie Sheen once said “winning!”). I’m nearly out of breath having run a 5 minute mile pace. Mr. Sale suggests we do an ab set since we had time. So we plop down in the Snoballs parking lot and do flutter kicks until the others arrive. Stroganoff was so proud to see his favorite exercise employed, he joins us for a few and then Gastone challenges us to perform 100. I check my watch and realize it is 0555 and we’ve got to get back to the AO. As the natural leader I announce it is time to head back. We begin at a slower pace, obviously recovering from our ab set. I had no more shared the words “let’s pick up…” before Mr. Sale once again took off in an impressive sprint. The rest of us could do nothing but be amazed. I reach the crest of the hill left of the new Harris Teeter and Short Sale is not in sight. I wonder if he took an Uber. I have no choice to lead the other men left to my charge. We pick up Defib in front of his neighborhood completing his 1000th burpee. I ask where he got the water to which I learned Short Sale went into Harris Teeter to buy a Starbucks and case of waters to share with the team – I wonder why I didn’t think of that? So as he sped by, Mr. Sale offered Defib a water. I’m kind of thirsty, water should would taste good about now. I guess we better catch up. Our four man crew arrives into the parking lot at Publix at 0614, a PR for me my watch informs me. Clavin and Stone Cold are sipping cold water having completed their circuit. Short Sale is running between the medians performing a set of 11’s. Apparently my brutal workout lacked and he needed extra. I’ll consider revising my next Pub Weinke. I’m a bit surprised though as somehow he carried a case of waters and medium Mocha Frappuccino nearly two miles. Man – what kind of monster have I created? Truly a beast is all I can say, except he’s not Q’ed 5 days in a row. The gauntlet has been thrown my fellow Wolfpacker…are you up for the challenge? Oh and thanks for the water – it hit the spot. Next time I promise to include you in the back blast.

What he said

Full disclosure…I didn’t get around to writing this backblast before I went on vacation. I can’t remember what we did except for the weinke. Props go to Whoopee for letting me use his weinke (in a purely platonic way of course). 5 Qs in 5 days leads to lack of imagination. His backblast is more of a literary masterpiece than this one too but here goes.
