Formerly The Black Knight, this AO meets Monday mornings at 0530 at Pelicans on Union Road, near the entrance to Martha River’s Park

1 Short of 25

Big crowd to start the week at Neverland.  This was the last week of school, which at this point seems like an eternity ago.   It was also Whoopees anniversary.  The only thing missing was rain puddles to celebrate.  Congrats on 24 years.

Stop on the church road, on your six for 25 big boy sit ups, feet on the highside of the decline.   Think we rinsed and repeated

Plank it up waiting on the six

Meander to the front lot for some Mary work

Mosey back to Food Lion, stopping by the same wall.   Believe we did some derkins and perhaps donkey kicks.

Line up, sprint across the parking lot.  Wait on the six and mosey to the HT lot.

Sprint across and mosey towards the start at Snoballs

Time

More running than normal for some.   It was a soaker.   Great work brothers.  Keep pushing.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead.

The Circuit

Publishing on behalf of Island, who is yet to graduate from the back blast 101 core curriculum.   Perhaps the weasel shaker could offer an early am course.   Anyway, the beat down goes something like this.

Quick warm up

SSH’s and Merkins

The Thang

Not much running.   Did not have to leave the area

Started with the circuit (editor’s note:  sounds like some crazy Short Sale diatribe).  Completed 3 circuits and each circuit finished with a run.  Rinsed and repeated until the time ran out for that circuit and moved to the next.

First circuit – Burpees, lunges, merkins, big boy sit ups, dips and run

Second circuit – 30 seconds of mtn climbers, squats, shoulder press, freddie mercury’s, plank jacks and run

Third circuit – SSH’s, LBCs, 30 second of plank each side and run

Sounds interesting.  Hate that I missed it.

What happens at Neverland stays in Neverland… Or did it really happen?

Sort of like if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it really make a noise?  I did not do well in Psych 101, however, the PAX on this bright Monday crushed it.  Knowing that those that did Mt Mitchell the previous day did not arrive home till late, I assumed they would be no shows.   Was not sure how many had hiked so had two weinke’s in mind.  The PAX was nine strong, so I went with option B.

More Moron Recovery

After being a MORON, withstanding Hush Puppy’s PainLab on Saturday, and celebrating Mother’s Day yesterday, YHC was not quite ready for Monday to get here (physically or mentally). But time rolls on, so YHC rolled out of the fartsack a little earlier than normal to try to get a little more stretching in. Rolling into Neverland at 0515, Easy Rider was already parked. Within just a few minutes 13 had joined YHC in the gloom.

0530 its go time.

No FNG’s, so a short standard disclaimer is given.

Pledge

Warm Up (While some would claim there was no warm up, YHC is going to write it up this way.):
Mosey to Bellacino’s parking lot (Side Note: If you haven’t tried Bellacinos, they have great pizza and grinders.)

Thang:
YHC had been reading old backblasts from the start of F3 Gastonia, the inspiration for this came from a Martha’s House workout Q’d by none other than Outhouse in 2015.
Start with 5 SSH in the first set of parking spots.
Sprint to 1st light – 10 Sumo Squats.
Nur to start – 10 SSH
Sprint to 2nd light (stop at 1st light – 1 Burpee) – 15 Sumo Squats
Nur to start – 15 SSH
Spring to 3rd light (stop and 1st and 2nd light – 1 Burpee) – 20 Sumo Squats
Nur to start – 20 SSH

During the 10 count, Island graced us with his presence, bringing the total to 16.

Next YHC called an Indian Run around the building. While this started out well, it quickly got out of hand with a near sprint pace by halfway around and JJ, Whoopee and Defib taking off in a full-on jailbrake by 2/3.

Next on the hit parade was a repeat of the first exercise with Mountain Climbers in the parking spots and Hand-Release Merkins at the lights.

While the intent was to do another Indian Run, this was quickly modified to a just a mosey around the building return to the wall of the abandoned grocery store. (Even then certain attendees ran some EC around the ATM as well.)

Everybody on the wall for People’s Chair with some hands in the air marching. YHC doesn’t remember the count as he was scheming an audible to the plan…

To ensure there was much joy brought to all who attended, YHC asked Whoopee to lead in 10 Hip-Slappers IC. If you have ever done Whoopee’s Hip-Slappers, you know the joy this brings to everyone.

Even though we were now on the other end of the parking lot a repeat of the 1st set of exercises was in order with American Hammers in the parking spots and Monkey Humpers at the lights.
YHC knew time was starting to get short, so the mosey was shortened to just around the parking lot, again ending at the wall.

Again the People’s Chair was called, this time all were “encouraged” to get those thighs parallel to the ground. YHC then asked Gastone to lead the marching this time. YHC did not give Gastone a count, so after 25, Q Omaha’d whatever number Gastone may have gone to… Q fail #1.

YHC was down to less than 10 minutes and still had one more set to get done. To get this in, the “first” light was eliminated with Big Boy Sit-ups in the parking spots and LBCs at the lights.
Somewhere in the middle of the last Big Boys, it was time to mosey back to SnoBalls to ensure YHC was not accused of demanding EC/overtime.

We arrived there with 2 minutes to spare, so some Mary. As Gastone had been out of pocket with family, YHC asked him to start.
30 IC Flutters later, YHC informed Gastone he had to share Mary (Q fail #2)
To complete Mary, Island called LBCs and Dirt with Peter Parkers and Parker Peters.

Time!

Thanks to JJ for picking up the six (other than during the Jailbrake).

Announcements:
Mt. Mitchell hike rescheduled for 19-May.
Belmont 5K – SFN – 25-May
The Murph – 27-May
Monk’s Departure Celebration – 31-May

Prayer Requests:
Mayor’s Recovery, Gastone’s Family, Sargento’s Family, PizzaMan’s Family, Roadie’s Family, Mothers
JJ took us out

Moleskin:
While I was driving to work after this workout, I ended up behind a minivan who driving either very slow or very fast and was barely keeping it between the curb and oncoming traffic. The vehicle ultimately missed a curve in the road, jumped the curb and hit one the big switch housings (that control the traffic lights) at 35-40, half-flipped, half-rolled and landed on the wheels. The lady driving didn’t have any visible wounds, but didn’t start to respond until just before EMS/Fire/Police rolled up. The van is going to be a total loss, but I pray she is ok.
Seeing this accident brought to mind how short and precious life is and how our region has been hit with much loss and hurt recently. Through our Fellowship and Faith we can get each other through these trials. None of us know the time we have allotted on this Earth, but I know we can have eternity if we know Jesus.
Thank you for the opportunity to lead. I hope I made it worth your while to roll out of the fartsack.
Either way, there are no refunds…

Watts Up powering down.

Dreams come true at Neverland

A strong crowd to start the week at Neverland.   16 pax for what was a simple but effective weinke.  The inspiration was the upcoming, annual Murph on Memorial Day (7am at Martha Rivers).

Warm up

SSH x 30 IC

LBC x 20 IC

Merkins x 10 IC

Mosey towards the park (YHC hears some mumble chatter about being happy didn’t head the other way towards Gastone’s hill.  What you don’t know, can’t hurt you)  Stop at the entrance of the park.

25 big boy sit ups on the hill with feet on the high side

Mosey down the road towards the play ground stopping about every other light pole for 25 monkey humpers OYO.

At the playground, share the reminder about the upcoming Murph and that would use today as practice.

10 pull ups, 20 merkins, 30 squats, then run the small lap around the playground.   Complete 5 times.  Some made it 6x’s, some 5 and others 4.  None the less, the rock was being moved.  Recent FNG’s Rainbow Ranger and Won Ton were pushing hard.  Was getting close to time so meandered to the parking lot.

Bernie Sanders (that’s the NUR but up a hill) to the upper side of the parking lot.   Easy Rider was hard to catch. Defib got him in the last 100 meters.

Plank it up waiting on the six.

In salute to Gastone – 50 flutter kicks IC.  This was a crowd pleaser.

About home, stop again at the entrance of the park for 25 more big boys with feet on the high side.

Mosey to the finish time.

COT

A beautiful morning with a number of #hims getting it done.  Always a honor to Q.

Good work

Tax Day

Island with the Q and reminders to get your taxes filed.   Also, discussed some foreign financial instrument vehicles and other incorporation plays to lessen your tax burden.   Good strategies that can be discussed with coffee and doughnuts some day.   Turtleman publishing the back blast for Island based on a rough narrative that Island he provided.   Will attempt to include editorial comment and color where needed.

Did Watt’s Up really call out Turtleman?  (editorial comment:  no idea what that means; see Island or Watt’s Up for background).   I suspect Watt’s Up was attempting to lift the back end of Clavin’s truck and Turtleman was on his six doing big boy sit ups).

Started with quick warm up:  SSH’s, LBC’s, Moroccan Night Clubs

Quick mosey to KFC to grap a coupon so we can do some curls for the girls

Ran to the old HT parking lot for some Colt 45’s with a run across the parking lot.

Wall sits with our coupons and this is where Turtleman got called out.  LOL  (editor comment – Watt’s Up was trying to use the coupon to gain illegal access through the external brick wall into the old store to borrow their permanent porta john.  Watt’s up was having one of those mornings.   At least that is YHC’s memory – see Island for clarity).

Next up a burpee circuit with the group taking turns doing our favortie exercise.

Finished with a partner Dora 123, 100 merkins, 200 squats and 300 LBC’s.

Mosey to the start and ended with COT and Namearama

Thanks for joining me.  Peace out – ISLAND

Sparty’s War Eagle rode a Cavalier while chasing a Red Raider

Anything can happen during March Madness, thus an ode to this years final four teams in the title.   As related to the workout, no direct correlation to the workout.  If YHC had planned better, perhaps his Q would have been more creative and aligned to the strengths of the teams.   None the less, 5:30 rolled around early on this chilly 1st of April.  PAX was 8 strong to start the week in the gloom.  It was time to get to work.

Disclaimer

Pledge

Warm up

SSH x 50 IC; at this point Claven references it about reached his age.

Next exercise SSH x 1 IC; Claven’s wish was granted (respect)

MNC’s x 51 IC

LBC’s x 30 IC

Mosey down Riverwood stopping at every other light for 25 Monkey Humpers OYO

At the doctors office; broad jump up the hill to the first light, run back to start, 20 squats OYO; rinse and repeat x 3

Plank it up waiting on the pax

Mosey towards Gastone’s hill; stopping for train horn’s along the way for some burpees

Bernie Sanders up the hill to the circle

Flutter kicks x 30 IC

Mosey down the hill; stopping for the crowd favorite.   With feet on the high side, complete 30 big boy sit ups.   “Modify as needed” was demonstrated.   This has proven to be pretty funny.  All types of different gyrations.  Similar to my last Q; though some had wised up and avoided the severe slope

Mosey towards the Dollar store; stopped for another train horn.  Could of been the same one, who knows.  10 Burpees

Jail break to the parking lot

Line up; lunge walk across the parking lot; perform 10 V-Ups (F3 world may call them something different).   In one motion raise both legs while doing a sit up, run back to the start; rinse and repeat x 3

Pete Chilcutt planks, which by the way was part of the Houston Rockets championship team who won the NBA title with the Houston Rockets in the mid – 90’s.

Mosey across the Food Lion parking lot

At the stair case, calf raise for a couple of sets

Mosey across the old HT lot.

Stopped and the last light and bear crawled to the curb.

Tossed some “make believe” rocks to cross the island; this is Neverland

Mosey back to the start

Think I’m missing some other exercises, however,  you get the point.   Dry Rub made his first post at Neverland and was pushing the rock hard.   Come to find out, he is a neighbor of Watt’s Up.   These two are going to be complete beasts.  Their neighborhood will never be the same.

Prayer Requests

Namarama

Time

Mumble chatter was interesting through out.  It was fun.

Till next time
