Somebody has to step in the gap…

Let’s cut to the chase.  Virus and Flintstone ran 14 miles at the Horse this morning.  Short Sale, YHC, and JJ also ran but not that far.  When Virus and Flintstone got back they looked like they had jumped in a lake.  Flintstone reported that his inner shoe pad somehow got sideways during the run, aggravating his foot.

The Site Q, Stroganoff, led us in Q Source on Persuasion, one of the longest chapters in Q source.  A good discussion as usual with lots of shared wisdom.

The best part of persuasion is getting somebody to do what you need them to do and make them believe it was their idea.

Mutual Incompetence at the Horse

Flintstone and YHC knew we were going our own way this am.  Flintstone was running 6 solo for his marathon training plan and YHC knew he was going to run but not the entire 5.  JJ was there at the start as he was getting in his early run so he can get to church on time.  As the Q, I say he gets credit for a post.

Technically the workout began at 0630 as expected but we were still talking and stretching at 0635 when Stroganoff rolled in.

“You’re late” was what we told him.

Strogi is getting his groove back so we took off for Martha’s House for a slow mosey 3 miler while Flintstone did his 6 miles.

Strogi and YHC talked “Mutual Competence” at Q Source and shared a lot of practical leadership lessons learned at each of our Mammon’s.  You had to be there.  The more you fail the more you learn, hence the title of the backblast.

In other news, Gastone has served the Coconut Horse well these last many years but agreed to give up duties.  YHC is happy to announce that Stroganoff has agreed to be the new Site Q at the Horse.  Hopefully next week we will have more than four PAX!

Blood drive Aug 10th

Future F3 Dads skating and Yank workout

Prayers for travelling PAX as well as Huckleberry, Turtleman, Big Pappy’s family

YCH put out a twitter poll this morning about future CSAUP’s.  We need to do at least three in the last part of the year.  If you want to help organize one or have an idea, please let me know!

Summer Doldrums at the Horse

We had a small but energetic crew at the Coconut yesterday.  Sargento, DDC and JJ ran the normal route.  YHC rucked for 3 the opposite way.  Short Sale ran his own route but we all arrived safely back at the HT right on time.  Sargento didn’t take any chances playing with traffic as far as I know.

Two stayed for Q source led by YHC on the Shared Leadership Team (SLT).  Coffee was consumed in volumes.

Prayers for many including Queso and his football camp, Feta on getting his driver’s license (hopefully) today, and Huckleberry and Turtleman among others.

Lots going on in the region….blood drive…..Tubing next Saturday….

Missing Gastone, Whoopee, Stroganoff, Maybelline, Flintstone, Gavel, BOS, Rebar, and others…hence the name of this BB.

SYITG!

ATTENTION! Code Brown at the Coconut

YHC was first to show at the Father’s Day spectacular cardio workout some call the Coconut Horse.  Flintstone arrived next, followed by Stroganoff, then JJ, then DDC.
We recited the #pledgeofallegiance to the phone flag gif and then went our ways out on the course.  Stroganoff ran to Martha’s House.  DDC and JJ ran the original Coconut route while YHC and Flintstone walked/rucked to Martha’s respectively.

Shortly after we left Short Sale ran past us on his way to try to catch up to the other runners.  Upon returning to the HT, we received a text from Short Sale that read, “CODE BROWN, don’t wait on me.”

Stroganoff received the message on his text to voice in his earbuds.  “You have a message from Short Sale….”Code Brown, don’t wait on me.”

Due to this important alert, we were able to complete COT without having to worry that Short Sale was unaccounted for on the route.

We discussed the need for an Amber Alert type system as a public service.  Think of it, we have Silver Alerts for lost and wondering Seniors (Dr. Seuss), we have Amber Alerts for missing children (Gold Digger).  Why shouldn’t there be a Code Brown alert for PAX like Short Sale, Tool Time, Sparky, and Round Up.  We suggested the Weasel Shaker create a change.org petition to make this happen.

The Q Source topic was on Positive Habit Transfer led by YHC but the real truth nuggets came from Stroganoff and his parenting tips.  Great stuff.

Prayers for all the PAX and FATHERS out there!

Low expectations

Due to some college graduations I believed there would be low numbers at the Coconut Horse but was pleasantly surprised to see Flintstone, Latte, and then Short Sale appear.  The three of them ran and YHC rucked and prepared to deliver the Q Source lesson on Study.

When YHC returned to the AO, Whoopee appeared ready to do some Mother’s Day and birthday card shopping.  YHC humblebragged that Dollar General opened at 0800 and they have cheaper greeting cards.  More on that later.

So when the runners returned we did a quick COT and went inside for coffee.

YHC got the M her coffee order and picked up some flowers before Q Source.

On the ride home YHC hit the Dollar General and wouldn’t you have predicted that Mother’s Day cards were basically picked clean.  Ended up with a “Happy Mother’s Day, Love, Daughter” card for my mom.  I scratched out daughter and wrote Roscoe of course.  Same card went to my MIL from my M so that worked out.

My M got a card from my boys that was a box of tissues with a Kleenex pulled out that said something like, “do your job” or some tacky thing and then you open it and it says “your job is to have a great day”.   Got lucky that the M exhibited Grace because my 2.1 wrote all sorts of sweet things in there.  The bright side is the total for three cards was $4.28.

Another Leaderless Coconut Horse

EZ Rider and YHC got a little EC before the start of the Horse…very little EC at that.

Whoopee joined and the three ran off into the distance not knowing that Short Sale had a dog that was backed up and would make him three minutes late.  Just before the Waffle House YHC needed to turn back and walk due to some IR type aggravation in the lower leg.  Short Sale passed and then YHC spotted Drug Dog who was running solo.

We all finished about the same time, Flintstone arrived and got in the COT and led the QSource discussion on Mammon.  It was lively and lessons were reinforced.

It was a great morning.  When we went to the parking lot, Short Sale was with us and then he disappeared and almost went head on into a car and then sped out of the parking lot.

Plan on a Memorial Day Murph on Monday, May 30th.

Plan on a CSAUP on Saturday, May 21st.

Coconut Horses

7 Coconut Horses ran the route this morning.  5 stayed to learn why the M is our most important relationship.

Several prayer requests.

Community Foundation Run coming up on April 9th.

Until the next one.

Stroganoff

Cold Coconuts

It was cold.  Not gloomy.  Darker than last few weeks.  Time changed.

We ran.  Buckeye scared YHC with a Alfred Hitchcock type bird story.  He also pulled me along this morning.

Community Foundation Run on April 9th.

Prayers:  Roscoe’s M and family; Palmer family; my mother-in-law

Aye.

Until the next one.

Stroganoff

Boudin’s Lizard

It started at 0600 hours on that cold morning with five ruckers.  No one ever passed us on the Coconut route so the assumption was no one else did any work at the Horse today.  We were wrong.

When we arrived at the AO on the return trip, Short Sale and Flintstone were there after a run.  Flintstone had already changed shoes so it was iffy if he actually did any running but credit is due I suppose.

After we had a great lesson on the GET RIGHT.  This week will be the DRP.  Did you take yours today?

Prayer requests:  YHC FIL, Stroganoff MIL, Boudin’s lizard and his 2.2.

You should try bricklaying and get in the habit of getting in five miles every Sunday and have second and third F before church.  Aye!

Who is in charge anyway?

There has been some confusion over what is going on with the Coconut Horse for some time.  I guess because “horse” is in the name of the AO, it is like the wild west.  Whoever shows up and takes the initiative is the Q.  As 1FQ, that would be me.

JJ, Defib, EZ Rider, Sargento and YHC ran the route.  We ran 5.  It was awesome.  YHC supposedly pushed Defib (a little) #probablyfakenews.  When we got back to start, Short Sale returned from a solo run.  Then DDC and another PAX ran in.  Fist bumps all around and we learned that the PAX with DDC was named “JJ”.

“Who named you?” we asked.

“The Gashouse named me three years ago.”

Our well known “original” JJ was confused. AWKWARD!   I thought a fight was going to break out.  It was intense.

We need a Weasel Shaker to figure this out.  Again, the “new JJ” said he was named in the GASHOUSE!  Who did that and where?

In any event, everyone got better and we joined Whoopee and Flintstone inside for some QSource on Preparedness, one of my favorite topics!

Prayer Requests:

Linus, Watts Up, Roscoe FIL and M, Tesla, SA and family, Wichita’s Mom, Purple Haze’s Mom, Big Pappy MIL, Round Ups M and 2.0.

Moleskin:

What a great Sunday routine and it was even nicer that YHC got to sleep in to run just the regular 5 miles because the plan was to double up at Crowders later that afternoon.  (We did…Whoopee, Defib, YHC, our M’s and one dog)

On the topic of Preparedness, we should always be sticking to our routines to get stronger, faster, better in all things.  This includes all three F’s.  You should be setting goals and reaching for them daily.  Even though YHC didn’t register for the Biloxi with the rest of the guys, YHC enjoyed the trip and prepared by running longer distances leading up to the race.  The training that took place paid off with faster times and more durability.  YHC recommends training for something.  Sign up for a CSAUP if you don’t have anything on your calendar.  There will be more opportunities on the CSAUP menu soon!  BOLO
