Failure leads to Progress

Good crowd for some mildly cold moseying at The Coconut Horse.  Most ran the normal route while two modified to a slightly shorter route.  Everyone returned safely.

Q Source covered Failure.  Unfortunately, my experience has shown me that failure is the greatest teacher and why I think it is last in the LDP.  For a leader to fully develop, he must learn to accept failure as just part of the journey to get better.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead.

Until the next one.  Aye!

The Ultimate, Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

Well, everyone showed up by 7:02 for the 7:00 players meeting. We did things a little backwards in case people had to leave.

Count off-Vinny Cherry…….I said count! 1 Nantan, say 1!

Namerama-1. I respect the sarcasm Vinny.

Switzer. Good job on how this works. Most people get confused. I shared a word about gratitude and how it is the outward showing of thanks. It is thanks in action. Don’t just say what you are thankful for, show it. We then covered how to play and how to play like a big boy. There were some big boy plays and reactions today so good job.

There were some good games and some not so close but none really mattered because they weren’t the championship game. Blart’s team went undefeated meeting Pillager’s team in the championship game. Wojo’s team may have been there if SA wouldn’t have gone down with a pulled meow. I thought a cracked out Gearwrench would make up for it but it didn’t happen.

The championship game ended in a tie so we headed into OT. An error set up Blart’s team within 5 yds of the end zone. A throw was made and Blart with his reach got up after it colliding in the air with J2C. Blart got 2 feet just in and held on as he slammed to the ground. The captain gave it all!

It was a fun time and we got some work in. Even Mayor who reffed with an iron fist and sharpened silver tongue. Thank you all for all you do to make F3 Gastonia successful. I am thankful for each and every one of you and I hope I can show you with more gratitude in the future.

Last week, at Spiderman’s Redwood Q, Spiderman had to split after 30ish minutes, so he gave YHC the last 15 minutes.  Well it turns out, YHC was in the same boat this week, so rather than not Q or show at all, YHC just returned the favor.

If you want to know what happened the last 10 minutes, you’ll have to ask Spiderman.

Good to get back out to Bulldog, even if it was only for 35 minutes.  It’s a great place for a low impact beatdown.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead.

Owning Opportunity

5 of us got out and put in work on a great morning to get after it.  Come to think of it, every morning is a great morning to get after it.  Maybelline & Whoopee did 1000 step-ups to prep for the Chad.

At QSource, we discussed opportunity.  This is the time in the LDP where you get to own the results.  It’s also the time where other good leaders evaluate you based on the leadership you show, not your field knowledge or personality.

One golden nugget in this chapter was 8 specific character traits inherent to Leadership.  Those are:

  1. Dedication
  2. Responsibility
  3. Loyalty
  4. Discipline
  5. Integrity
  6. Moral Courage
  7. Selflessness
  8. Moral Standards

If you want to see how you stack up as a leader, have someone evaluate you or evaluate yourself honestly on these 8 character traits.  If you find yourself lacking, you know what to work on.

Another great morning in The Gloom.  Thanks for the opportunity to lead.
