Pledge

COT

Lots of prayers going out for those that are hurting in F3… and for our families.

Praise report for Gumby’s mom which is definitely great to hear

Be available for your brothers in this group whether it be prayers or physical presence. Make it a point to get to the 2nd F events. We all need the encouragement and accountability to keep going. It’s not always easy to push yourself or get out to the workouts so take opportunities to help and build each other up. If someone has been missing, reach out to them personally. All we can hope is that as we impact each other that our circle of influence will grow beyond our families and beyond Dallas and Gastonia.

Paul talks about how to grow our circle of influence in 2 Corinthians.

“We do not boast beyond limit in the labors of others. But our hope is that as your faith increases, our area of influence among you may be greatly enlarged,”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:15‬

As the Holy Spirit leads you to boast in Him and the work he’s doing in your life… pray for others that you can influence. Not in arrogance, but in the hope that we will win them to Christ, and they will lead their families, and others in turn.

Hole

Around with Blocks

It was a crisp spring morning perfect setting to get some quality work in. So without delay Yhc and 11 friends gathered at Marthas for a fun filled morning. Quick disclaimer and warmup with 10 each SSH,  Merkins and LBCs.

The Thang:

Several years ago Santa left me extra blocks from a wall built for my garden. These make great gifts which I was ready to share.  According to  Rudolph our weight expert each block weighed at least 100lbs (at least that what I heard him say).  With block in hand we ran to the old Harris Tetter parking lot where we did three exercises at each of the four light poles on the corners.  First round was 5 Blockees, 5 Squat thrusts and 5 Jump squats.  Mumblechatter almost non-existent – probably because everyone was so happy I wasn’t running them 8 miles this morning.  Next round was 10 curls, 10 overhead presses and 10 tricep extensions.  After these two rounds I was ready for a break but pushed on with a round of Dora inspired with blocks – 100 merkins (on the block made it more like diamond Merkins), 200 LBCs and 300 squats with blocks.

Noting that time was on our side we did another round of Around the Lights this time with 15 Rocky Balboas, 10 straight arm block raises and 15 flutter kicks with block in air.  Time was quickly running out so  fellowship mosey back to start for COT and namorma

Thought for the day:  Put as much effort into spiritual growth as we do strengthening our bodies

1Timothy 4:8 – “For physical training is of some value, but Godliness has value for all things, holding promises for both the present life and the life to come”

RNB Family Style

It was a great night serving a very large group from the homeless community.  YHC is fairly certain that each one of us got so much more from the experience than any of those receiving meals and clothing last night.  We could see how the 2.0’s lives were changing right in front of us, they did an awesome job!  Special thank you to the Ms who joined us as well, as always they make anything we do better.  So honored to be alongside my brothers who provided hope and the love of Jesus to his fellow man.

Based on the feedback YHC is getting and the impact F3 is having supporting Rice N Beans,  it’s time to make this a monthly occurrence.  A June date will be announced shortly.

Coming in Hot

I’ve gotten pretty good at timing the drive to all the AO’s I plan to post at. This morning when my alarm went off I accidentally switched it off instead of just snoozing it. Woke up at 6:38! Oh crap, gotta go!!!

YHC jumped out of the car at 7:01 to plenty of jeers from the PAX, deservedly so. I had to make up for my tardiness somehow. It’s a good thing I planned a beatdown on the extra large weinke.

Disclaimer since we had an FNG, nice job Breaker Breaker!

Warm Up:

LBC’s (thought I’d do good balls, didn’t ya?), Plank Jacks, Morrocan Night Clubs, then GOOFBALLS!

Mosey up the sidewalk then get a count-off at the corner from the PAX so we can keep tabs on everybody. 14 in all, good crowd.

Route 66 – do CDD’s (Def Leppard Merkins) at each telephone pole adding 1 extra at each one until we reach the corner. Countoff…

Mosey around the corner to the back of the middle school for a new routine YHC found in the exercisicon.

The Thang:

The Gross – do 12 reps of 12 different exercises- YHC picked 12 I really don’t like doing too much. ALL WERE IN CADENCE!!! Sort of…

  • Gorilla Humpers
  • Burpees
  • Werkins
  • V-Up Roll Up (for Nantan emeritus ToolTime)
  • Lunges (Orangeman had the brilliant idea of making them jump lunges, so we did that at the halfway point)
  • Diamond Merkins (I really hate these)
  • Hip Slappers (but not as much as these)
  • Shoulder Taps
  • WWI Sit Ups
  • Tiger Squats
  • Mike Tysons
  • Maktar N’Diayes

Countoff… this is where Tiger left…then mosey down, around the track and to the shelter where the concrete is smooth for…

The Grater (a Sargento original where we get our cores shredded! Get it?)

  • Weezy Jeffersons (look it up)
  • Windshield Wipers
  • Crunchy Frogs
  • Oblique Crunch (for Nantan emeritus ToolTime)
  • Protractor
  • Peter Parkers
  • Parker Peters
  • Outlaws
  • Dollys

This is where the FNG said he had to leave to catch his 5 year old’s t-ball game. We had to name him before he left so YHC stopped the proceedings to learn a little about him then give him his name. Welcome 5 Degrees!!!

Mosey down to the amphitheater for one last hurrah.

The Triple Nickel – Mountain Climbers, which YHC switched to Plank Jacks at the bottom, Big Boy Sit Ups at the bottom. Plank for the 6. Tesla was the only one who followed the instructions. Great leadership Site Q.

Mosey around the park, do a Death Spiral lap around the fountain, then head to the Yank for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Announcement – Mt. Mitchell hike rescheduled for the 19th, 5k in Belmont, other stuff

Prayer requests – way too many for me to remember. Just remember to lift each other up and encourage everyone.

Moleskin – The last few weeks have been pretty tough trying to keep everything together with my M-in-law getting very sick then going to be with the Lord. Knowing that our PAX has each other’s back in prayer and in our lives is very real and powerful. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and support. Our wives need the same type of community that we’re so blessed to be a part of. Please encourage and support your wives to get involved in relationships outside of the usual family unit that can provide similar support like we have. Church, exercise groups, neighborhood groups, wherever they need to go to develop the ShieldLock that we all have. It’s critical for them just as much as it is for us.

Until the next time I’m just making it to a workout…peace.

bear crawls get us all

Warm up:
SSH,Don Q’s, Toy Soldiers, Merkins, Goof Balls.

Mosey– anytime I Q we always do monkey humpers by the wall on 321, its just a great way to start the morning.
Main Street : light post 5 burpees then nur to the next light and do 20 SSH. We made it to the red light doing this. Once all the pax arrived at the red light we did 25 plank jacks for good measure.
Mosey to the church to have fun on the wall. 50Dips, 25 step ups, 25 Derkins. We had a strong group this morning so we did the exercise a few times before moving on.
Mosey back to the parking lot next to the Rotary for some 11’s. Why not Bear crawl vs running looked good on paper lets do it!
Sumo Squats->(bearcrawl)->Hand Release Merkins. About half way through this my Hospital name (Jeremy) was telling Bed Pan (f3name) that he was the dumbest person to think this was useful. I think the blood rushing to my head was causing me to go crazy but I knew the Pax loved it by all the positive words being used. We did Omaha some where during the 11’s to lunge one way and bear crawl the other.
Some Mary back at the Rotary then the pledge.

COT and prayers were said.
The Bed Pan is full!!

Down Goes Pappy

The Folsom HIM’s made their presence felt this beautiful morning. It was looking like we may be low on numbers but Allen Tate,  Montross, and Sparky came in hot giving us the exact number we needed.

Warm up:

  • 10 Hillbillies
  • 10 Cherry Pickers
  • 10 Toy Soldiers

The Thang:

We mosey’d to the lower lot were we had 3 stations set up. We worked all 3 stations for 2 sets at 7 minutes in length.

  • Station 1
    • Pearl Jam had a ladder drills set up on the “Platform of HIM’s”.  YHC found that his footwork was not as fast has his brain and around corner 2  tripped and went flying into the grass net. I appreciate Ratchet making sure the YHC was ok and for AT screaming “DOWN GOES PAPPY” like the announcer from the Ali/Frazier fight.
  • Station 2
    • Blue had some live music for as we did LBCs, merkins, SSH, flutter kicks and others the YHC can not remember. He played mostly classic rock, but had a special ukulele tune (Yesterday by the Beatles)  for Sparky.  It was cool to see Montross take over for a set and play a little AC/DC.
  • Station 3
    • In this station, we had a parachute sprints and squats on the other end.  We started out strong but this one beat us down on the second set and we were too slow to get the parachute to deploy.

We mosey’d back to the tennis court lot and there was Pizza Man working like the true HIM his is.

COT:

We spoke of raising our children in the way of the Bible.  Proverbs 22:6 “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”  Pizza Man joined us and his words were truly felt.

How Many is That??

Q came in hot in a bad mood, 20 Burpees!!!  That was after a short disclaimer due to Broke and visiting Band Camp from the Fort EHing a couple of FNGs, welcome to Red Ribbon (Ben Harkey) and Chalkboard (Joel Lineberger).  Get the pledge after round of burpees.  Mosey to the BBT.

Get to BBT and Q calls walls of Jericho.   Exercies were merkins, werkins, Diamond merkins, hand release merkins, stagger merkins right, stagger merkins, left, and merkins that Q had no name for.  Feet on the wall about a foot off the ground and do merkins.  Tesla called them suspension merkins.  Good name Tesla!  Suspension merkins are TOUGH!  By round two chatter was hot, by round four Q name taken in vain.  This one was tough.  Got about 15 minutes left, so Q calls for rugby sprints.  Exercises were, LBC, flutter crunches, V ups, Heels to Heaven, American Hammers.  Mosey back to flag.

Good work men on a tough workout, rock pushers out there.

Word for the day came from Q church sermon from day before, based on 1 Peter, chapter 4 verse 8 “above all, love deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins” .  Jesus calls us to love, even when it is really hard to even like or forgive someone.

Events upcoming:  Mt Mitchell hike this coming weekedn, Speed for Need in Belmont May 25, Murph on Memorial Day at 7am, Monday AO’s closed.

Many prayer requests and our prayer list for the week is Mayor, Pizza Man and his family, Gastone and his family, Roadie and his family, Sargento mother in law, my buddy Sprinkler and his family (lost his mother in Mississippi last week.

Q took us out

Always an honor to lead

Prime Suspects?

7 men pushed the rock at Mt. Hollywood this morning.  Beautiful morning, time to put in some work!!  We were delayed for a few moments as an officer with the Mt. Holly police department pulled into the parking lot.  Apparently the alarm was going off at the middle school, and we were the prime suspects.  There was some discussion about an all out prison break run, just to see what would happen.  We better get the workout started, before the officer ask too many questions, especially with the  questionable character of some of the  pax in attendance.

Warm-Up:

10 Burpees, short disclaimer with something about me being an idiot, 10 more Burpees.

The Thang:

Mosey to the parking lot of the South State Bank on S. Main St.  If the alarm goes off at the bank, we may be in trouble.  Exercise called here is one of my favorites, BLIMPS!  We would do our best to stick together on this and push each other to the end.  This exercise went like this:

10 Burpees, Run a lap around the bank

10 Burpees, 15 LBCS, Run a lap

10 Burpees, 15 LBCs, 20 Imperial Walker Squats, Run a lap

10 Burpees, 15 LBCs, 20 IW Squats, 25 Merkins, Run a lap

10 Burpees, 15 LBCs, 20 IW Squats, 25 Merkins, 30 Plank Jacks, Run a lap

10 Burpees, 15 LBCs, 20 IW Squats, 25 Merkins, 30 Plank Jacks, 35 Smurf Jacks, Run a lap

Good work on that men, way to push it out.  Next we take a short mosey to the wall behind BB&T.  Our second stop at one of the local banks.   I promise we were not casing the joint for an after hours return trip.  We had some time to spare, so let’s get in some 11’s.  The exercises called were Hip Slappers and Bobby Hurley’s.  Start with 10 Hip Slappers, run to other side of parking lot for 1 Bobby Hurley.  9 Hip Slappers and 2 Bobby Hurley’s.  You know the drill, continue until we finish with 1 Hip Slapper and 10 Bobby Hurley’s.

Next with time running out, lets start our mosey back towards the flag.  We took the long route down W Central Ave and stopped at the wall in front of Ida Rankin.   Here we did 3 different exercises:

10 Dips (IC)

10 Derkins

10 Burpees

We would do 2 rounds of these 3 sets of exercises.  Good work men, way to push through until the end.  Mosey back to the flag.

Annoucements:  Belmont Classic 5k -SFN 5/25, Memorial Day Murph 5/27

Nameorama

Prayer request:  All pax in our area, Broke took us out
