The Fartsack Must Be Real

So, the fartsack must be real. I had roughly 4 HC’s and 3 SC’s on Pax that would show up to Folsom today, as well as others with potential. I have still yet to Q for more than 3 Pax. But it’s fine… we were there and we did some moving. I had planned for more running for the Pax that said they were showing (even though I hate running). I decided to change that when I showed and saw only Volt’s car. I then changed things again, at the last minute, and started making things up as I went.  Not sure to the extent of how well it all went… but at least we were out there and moving.

Though, next time it’s just me, and only few others… we may just run to Waffle House instead.

The Thang:

  • 20 SSH in cadence
  • 15 Gravel Pickers
  • 12 Mountain Man Poopers
  • Mosey to the vet road – 20 Mountain Climers OYO
  • Mosey to the next light post – 20 Plank Jacks OYO
  • Mosey to the next light post – 20 Shoulder Taps OYO
  • Mosey to top of the hill – Pledge
  • Iron Hulks… 2 rotations around the circle
  • Mosey to the neighboring parking lot – “22’s” (long 11’s – thanks to Volt from last week)
    • Stogey-style Mike Tysons (plank to a horizontal squat – no merkin)
    • Modified Dan Taylors/Lt. Dans (2 lunges + deep squat)
  • Mosey back to the parking lot – COT

Volt and I had to leave at 6am for work and other responsibilities. We got back to the COT right at 6am. I mentioned Montross could do some Captain Thors on his own after Volt and I left. He didn’t seem to keen that was going to happen. Instead of just taking off I performed a quick COT.

Announcements:

  • Montross mentioned Pappy and another Pax mentioned helping out the Least of These in Gastonia, helping out the Foster Care system.
  • Montross mentioned one of the Pax (him or Medicine Woman) were going to also check into Folsom helping the Boys and Girls Club that meets at Venture Church (about 1½ miles down the road from Folsom).

Prayer requests:

  • Praise Report for my friend Ted – Brain Surgery to remove 3 cancerous tumors went well, without any complications. He’s still in the hospital recovering and will still need to do chemo and radiation after recover. Thank God for aiding the doctors, but please keep him and his wife in your prayers.
  • Also praying for all of those out of work around the holidays – lots of layoffs happening.
  • Praying God’s will for our lives and the lives of others.

Warming the Cold Sammich

YHC almost missed this morning too (2 in a row). No family or pet problems today… just a flat tire on the truck.

Luckily we do this F3 thing in the gloom of morning, so moved the ruck to the M’s vehicle and continued on.

0530 hits and 4 are present. No sighting of the promised Kotter, maybe next time. (M had to go to work early)

We get the pledge in and take off toward Martha’s.

Past the maintenance shack and around soccer fields to end up at the playground. For a little repeat of Rudolph’s Sammich.

10 Merkins
15 Squats
20 Sec Hang

Back to the parking lot for a trip around it with some backward thrown in to return to the playground for another round.

Let’s go look for some Pubbers…

Looking at the time, YHC suspected Pubber spotting had passed, but there was still time for Gastone’s hill.

We made there, up and back with a few seconds to spare.

Announcements:
Operation Sweet Tooth coming up.

Prayer Requests:
Clavin’s M and family
Bandit’s friend’s family

Voodoo took us out.

Moleskin:
Bandit related that his friend had a 17-18 year old and within the last couple of years married his college sweetheart. Yet he took his own life.

Brothers,
We all struggle. We each have our own jesters and demons. But none of us battle alone. You have a shield lock of brothers.
Reach out to them/us.

John 10:28-29
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.

Watts Up powering down.

Yall know Bert?

After the great speech from Dark Helmet at the Rotary meeting Thursday, I decided to use a weinke that DOAH posted a while back on twitter. Little did I know it was insanely tuff and represented a great person. Look him up and the work out.

Day 29: Love’s Motivation

It doesn’t take much experience to discover that your mate will not always motivate your love. In fact, many times they will de-motivate it. More often than you’d like, it will seem difficult to find the inspiration to demonstrated your love. They may not even receive it when you try to express it. That’s simply the nature life, even in fairly healthy marriages.

But although moods and emotions can create all kinds of moving motivational targets, one is certain to stay in the same place, all the time. When God is your reason for loving, your ability to love is guaranteed.

That’s because love comes from Him.

Think of it like this. When you were a child, your parents certainly established rules for you to follow. Your bedtime was at a certain hour. Your room had to be kept mostly clean. Your schoolwork needed to be finished before you could go play. If you were like most people, you bent these rules as often as you obeyed them. And if not for the incentive of force and consequences, you might not have obeyed them at all.

But if you met Christ along the way or received any kind of Bible teaching, you probably were exposed to this idea – “Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord” (Colossians 3:20). If you took this to heart at all, you knew you didn’t merely have your parents to answer anymore.

This was no longer a battle of wills between you and a flesh-and-blood authority figure. This was now between you and God. Your mom and dad were just the go-betweens.

As it turns out, however, the relationship between parents and children isn’t the only thing enhanced by letting God become your driving motivation. Consider the following areas where pleasing Him should become our goal:

Work. “Do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men” (Colossians 3:23).

Service. “Obey those who are your masters on earth, not with external service, as those who merely please men, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord” (Colossians 3:22).

Everything. “Work hard at “whatever you do … knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve” (Colossians 3:23-24).

Even marriage. “Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord” (Colossians 3:18). “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her” (Ephesians 5:25).

The love that’s demanded from you in marriage is not dependent on your mate’s sweetness or suitability. The love between a husband and wife should have one chief objective: honoring the Lord with devotion and sincerity. The fact that it blesses our beloved in the process is simply a wonderful, additional benefit.

This change of focus and perspective is crucial for a Christian. Being able to wake up knowing that God is your source and supply – not just of your own needs but also those of your spouse – changes your whole reason for interacting with your mate.

No longer is it this imperfect person who decides how much love you’ll show, but rather it’s your omni-perfect God who can use even a flawed person like yourself to bestow loving favor on another.

Has your wife become fairly hard to live with lately? Is her slowness at getting over a disagreement wearing on your patience? Can she not just give it a rest? Don’t withhold your love just because she thinks differently from you. Love her “as to the Lord.”

Is your husband tuning you out, not saying much, apparently brooding over something he’s not interested in sharing? Do you feel hurt by his unwillingness to open up? Are you tired of him being so short with you, not even responding to the children the way he needs to? Don’t battle back with a double dose of silence and inattention. Love him anyway. “As to the Lord.”

Love motivated by mere duty cannot hold out for very long. And love that is only motivated by favorable conditions can never be assured of sufficient oxygen to keep it breathing. Only love that is lifted up as an offering to God – returned to Him in gratitude for all He’s done – is able to sustain itself when all other reasons have lost their ability to energize us.

Those who are fine with mediocre marriages can leave their love to chance and hope for the best. But if you are committed to giving your spouse the best. But if you are committed to giving your spouse the best love you possibly can, you need to shoot for love’s highest motivation. Love that has god as its primary focus is unlimited in the heights it can attain.

Render service with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to men.  – Ephesians 6:7 HCSB

Today’s Dare

Before you see your spouse again today, pray for them by name and for their needs.  Whether it comes easy for you or not, say “I love you,” then express love to them in some tangible way.  Go to God in prayers again, thanking Him for giving you the privilege of loving this one special person – unconditionally, the way He loves both of you.

Service Ruck

As a part of the 40/50 day challenge I will be rucking for my service to others. This informational post is to invite you to do the same. Every Saturday that I’m able between now and Christmas I will be posting 1 hour before the main workout for an EC ruck. The service part comes in the form of what I will be carrying. I will be carrying food to donate. Hopefully 20-30 lbs or as much as I can fit. Can foods weigh different amounts and not all needs are canned food. I plan to bounce from Saturday to Saturday AO’s so please feel free to join me. If you would like to participate and I’m not going to be at the AO you are then please proceed anyway.  I will collect from you next time or you can donate to whomever you want. Right now I’m looking at donating to BREAD inc.  in Gastonia but this is also up for suggestions. Don’t have a ruck sack or bag? Well I have a sandbag we can fill up with food and carry together so come on out! I will start this Saturday at Folsom at 5:30. I will post on twitter and Slack where I’ll be after that. Come get your service ruck on!

The dog ate my weinke!

Well not really. Read on.

YHC wasn’t sure he was going to make this morning. Our faithful K9 was accused of eating ~ 1 oz. of my son’s pipe tobacco. Many hours and two different after-hours vets later, she showed no signs of any problems or distress. So at 0130, when YHC crawled into bed, a message to Clavin indicating he may need to sub. Alas, YHC realized the difference between posting and going to work was a mere 1 hour of sleep…who needs more than 3.5 hours of sleep, anyway?

BTW, YHC did not prepare a weinke due to last night’s adventures, so this is what you get from a sleep deprived Watts Up…

When YHC rolled in, 4 were out getting EC. (Way to go get it!) All rolled in before 0530…

No FNG’s on this fine 20+ degree morning, so an abbreviated disclaimer was given.

WarmUp x 1:
Goof Balls IC x 13
Merkin IC x 10

Warmup x 2:
Mosey toward Union, stopping at every other light post on Riverwood Parkway to do exercises. Each stop included at least 1 and up-to 3 of the following:
20 Monkey Humpers
5 Burpees
25 Flutters
5 Flying Squirrels

Once we reached Union Road, frogger/mosey across to the lit, covered walk at Robinson Elementary.

The Thang…
11’s
At one end of the walk, Squats. At the other end, Dips.
Meander back to the middle when done.
(Lots of chatter about this, since the two points were ~150 yds apart)

Next on the hit parade was ascending 4 corners, using the corners of the parking lot.
10 Moroccan Night Clubs
20 Merkins
30 Reverse Crunch
40 Flutters (Single Count)

Since we went up, we needed to go back down, but only half way…
20 Flutters
15 Reverse Crunch
10 Merkins
5 Moroccan Night Clubs (apparantly this is hard to say in 20 degree weather. Luckily Whoopee and Gastone worked it out)

Meander back toward the church…. Scratch that, backward meander…

Once we were close to the church, lets mosey…
Past the Childcare Place, BB&T and into the BP.

Frogger back across Union to the soon-to-be Planet Fitness.

Here we did a little wall sitting and 15 Air Presses IC.

Mosey back toward the flag, but wait there is more…

20 Step-Ups each leg at the bank wall.

And then on to home.

According to the PAX with the fancy watches, we got right at 3 miles.

Your Welcome!

Prayer Requests:
Clavin’s M and Family.
Rock Hill/Fort Mill/Lake Wylie PAX with loss

Easy Rider took us out.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead.

Moleskin:
During today’s workout the PAX made sure I knew this wasn’t The Pub or Coconut Horse. I realize there has been a good bit of running when I Q’d recently. Some of that is purposeful, some of it accidental. I don’t like running, nor am I particularly good at it. I don’t know that I will ever like it, but maybe I can get better at it. Almost everytime I run with the PAX, I will glean some nugget of truth to help improve.

I can’t express how much I appreciate the push, encouragement, support and accountability I have received in 10 months I have been out here. I can only hope to pay it back and forward.

James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Silent PainLab

On this, the coldest day so far this season, YHC has the Q. Warmup was run, by Clavin with Gashouse.

Instructions were given to the PainLabbers to head to the amphitheater while YHC helped HunkaJunk get Kettlebells from this ride for later.

Knowing we were going to join Gashouse in an exercise. Upon arriving, YHC found the the PainLabbers huddled up as far as possible from Gashouse like boys and girls in a middle school dance. Once they realized we were going to party together, all took up the cause.

Upon completion, Gashouse took off to do what they do and PainLab headed back to the parking lot.

Now that everybody is good and warmed up, let’s do 55’s. just like 11’s but the reps total to 55 and you count by 5. The exercises called were flutters and Moroccan night clubs (You can thank Stroganoff for this one). Oh, and do side lunges back and forth. (In retrospect, this wasn’t the best idea. My hip flexors were sore…)

Since this was a modified 11, let’s do 11’s next. Merkins and Squats with high-knees in between.

Next on the hit parade was AMRAP exercises for 45 seconds and 15 seconds of rest. YHC had 20+ exercises ready, but alas we only got about 10 in with Gashouse joining us for the last couple. They would be noted here, but YHC can’t recall which were done. Me thinks pullovers, curls, offset merkins, crunchy frogs were definitely included though.

Guess you had to be there…

Prayer Requests and Announcements were documented by Clavin.

YHC took us out

Thanks JJ and Stroganoff for the EC.

It was an honor to be present and lead.

Watts Up powering down.
