I tend to sometimes feel like Paul Simon and hear the trumpet blast for You can call me Al …. all too often ( Watts Up always catches it and we have a great laugh) as pax will use whatever secretary their system uses whether Google, Alexa, Siri, Dummy, Fool, Goober or Gomer … it always will auto correct your words especially for Clavin ,,,, it becomes Calvin! Voodoo sent out a pre announcement for my Q today inevitably getting the above said.
Arrive a few minutes early to set up finding all huddled in vehicles ?!?? It’s only 65 degrees outside? I did however find us a new mascot of a frog and contemplated renaming to Bull Frog, but I tend to catch Hell on moments like that … so…
Set up my stations, set up music and await time to start…
Begin by welcoming all to the new south where the weather is what ever you want!! Only last week we were bundled in 3 layers and heavy gloves and toboggans … now?!?? Shorts ?!? Ok

finally we had an interesting station that was left for interpretation …. 2 blocks and a piece of 4×4 wood about  5 feet long …. I laid the wood thru uppermost holes in blocks to make an impromptu barbell ( heavier than we all expected) but you can attempt to lift or balance on this or change  to whatever you envision …. indeed today’s exercises we’re told to all to be you against you only … either you can challenge self to whatever exercises you wish to either vary it up or work only one muscle group …. all your choice !!!!

this last station was most fun to watch as the group each pax in turn challenged selves to either lay beneath and chest press , Oscar showed us to bend over and lift one side and drop over and over (nice), Dry Rub was the one to begin us all pressing and he also tried to balance as did I and squatted on top but the award goes to Spider-Man who lifted this and with one hand balanced on 1 finger and twirled this all while doing jumping jacks … I wish I videoed… it was like Harlem Globetrotters were present!!! Amazing stuff to say the least!

we ended with Thunderstruck … I ambitiously chose flutters and for every Thunder …. heels to Heaven ….. nope! After 1 minute changed to American Hammers , then called on each pax for an ab exercise… obliques and 2 others I can’t remember

And the music today was CLUTCH …. if you’ve never heard them ….do …. they are not in any radio rotation not because of language or other … but they are awesome …. Spider-Man checked them out in 92 ( I think he said?) in Ohio at a small venue … lucky!

Gastone’s Forklift Safety

At Labyrinth dreams C A N come true !!

Timeframe started out by asking yours truly who had Q and what was in store …. well, I informed him that I ( Clavin ) had ideas in store but that I failed to be smart and when Outhouse asked yesterday at Bulldog and said that he would be traveling next 6 weeks !!! He wanted to Q and i was still half asleep, but when I awoke after that workout I tried repeatedly to reach him only to be snubbed and blocked and then the FBI showed on my doorstep with cease and desist orders…. I finally took the hint!
Timeframe looked up into the sky, saw a star over to the left and wished he may, wished he might, suddenly ALL pax joined in and began speaking in tongues and wailing until Outhouse sauntered out of his truck, Listened to all the pleading and gladly accepted the bribe of $42.37 in order to wrestle the Q from YHC… he did throw me a bone and told me that “ I would have no choice but to provide the backblast!”
I led the pledge and very humbly bowed in subservience to the new lord of today’s beat down…. Outhouse!!

SWAT ARRIVED ….. we had to present identification … I was forcibly thrown into the back seat as once again Outhouse chose to act like he did not know me ( thankfully someone must have vouched for me as I was released on my recognizance And allowed to resume …. 75 squats …… it was suddenly noted that we were at the Port O potties ( outhouse?) and so we all did at least 10 more squats and chose NOT TO WIPE! And complete 100 sSHs at last light … go back to wall ….. ughhggggh …. more wall shits … sits…. sorry! Back to Snoballs and we nur red building twice for … TIME!

  1.  fresh off showing my 2.0 two of the Baddest and best Sci fi films of all time and Also introducing him to the original Bad ass woman heroine ( see title ) and especially as since last night we watched Aliens, what more needs saying … except that, “ Were on an express elevator to Hell, going down!!” Yeah I know that was not one of her lines, but damn there were some amazing lines especially from Hudson!!
    I digress, as usual we begin with pledge and then I act like a stroke victim Or maybe teacher from Férris Bueller and slow call warm up of SSH …….after asking if anyone knows how many years Ellen Ripley shuttle was adrift from original film to the sequel …… 57!! Yes , this took a few minutes , but we got warmed up !! No longer worrying about the cold … EZ rider even had to take face mask off ,, JJ not far behind! Next question , what sex was Ripleys child? Watts up got it right …. A daughter who died at 66 3 years before shuttle was found. So. 5 burpees ( mumble about what 5 has to do with 3…. for which Twinkle Toes ( previously known as Stinky Bird) said these extra were for bereavement.

Either way….) aaaannnddd now….. 40 Mike Tyson’s …. much mumble about if I knew how long or tough this was ….I NEVER doubted my boys today…. they performed admirably… and as I pointed out this took longer than the actual 40 second fight!

Lastly there was a suggestion of Motor Lodge Inn downtown Gashouse Sooooooo……we got into lower plank position and pickle pounders!!!! X 20 IC ( or attempted to…… but there was a lot of noise for SOME reason!!! But then I called out that , “ She said turn over ..” but before I could advise all to assume the crab ( hehe) position for crab thrusters , someone on their back called out, “ I’m wet!” And another said , “ That’s what she said!!” These were in cadence of some kind…. until we were ‘spent’ at 3….
If you noticed …. 20 was cadence count …. it is 2020 after all!
Break off into two groups boot camp with me and Pain lab with Big Pappy.
It should be noted that I Tweeted that as Linus would later acknowledge we would NOT be Gashouse sight seeing ( no library, pharmacy, Grier nor First Presby) but instead ran around parking lot back and forth and as we ran near Pain Labbers JJ decided to run over and through the assembled ( he’d learn quickly…. but moron that later)!
Today’s theme is Disruption! There was the disruption of NOT utilizing normal locales…. and well… moron that later!
We started near rock sculpture with 5 burpees and lunged few feet to another corner for 5 burpees and 10 merkins. Next karaoke over to end of lot for 5 burpees, 10 merkins and 15 plank jacks. Nur to next corner and yep … 5 burpees, 10 merkins, 15 plank jacks and WOW that ground is cold and wet , for 20 flutters ( forgot to tell all single or double… q fail! And before we would karaoke other side we assembled in midst of Labbers and Disrupted their thoughtful star gazing, I mean they were hardly working , er that is they were standing still!
Now, it should be noted that I AM a huge supporter for Pain Lab, all one has to do is check out my posts at PL and Bulldog!
Today’s disruption would mean that one of our number would remain behind to be tortured by the Labbers and collected on our return journey where we would leave someone else until ALL were voted off the island! So we HAD to leave JJ behind first ( mostly because of his earlier mischief) but also he had to rouse troops early for b ball game and had to leave us early. He claimed that they did things to him that he WOULD NOT like to revisit!
It took longer to accomplish this but it worked out well as part of idea was that if someone had never attended PL would get that chance. JJ has not although he has attended Bulldog more than once.
We would now have 10 minutes left and would hustle to trails until at the creek where the trails diverge we would use that hill for elevens of merkins below nur up and lbcs at top. Only reached 7 down and 4 up top and there was a 5 burpees train in mix and with only 45 seconds we hustled ( not really ) to awaken the Pain Labbers and help them clean up the popcorn from their movie watching ( The Office)!

I’m beat! It was time well spent ! Now to roll over … aww man , found the wet spot!

A New Vision

The park opened early in anticipation of either our planned Murph or maybe it was for the sultry 34 degrees ( until Gump came along to point out the temps had dropped a little to the freezing mark!!).
Twenty great HIMS would assemble to start the New Year off with a bang so we pledged I led a brief explanation of the planned workout advising all to modify as needed as always but today’s workout sounds simple, but in actuality Is a little tougher than some may expect : one mile run along perimeter trails assemble in play area for 100 pull-ups, 200 merkins and 300 squats and complete circuit with another mile run . Many would modify the count to 5-10-15 and a few did 10-20-30 but none did this workout as Michael “Murph” Murphy would do each morning as his routine, A Navy Seal who lost his life in Afghanistan.
It should be noted that some double dipped ( having attended Folsom at 5:30am for a run that according to Broke was slightly brisk and a few ran the last runners back in completing an additional mile run, Gump ran from and back to home (Su-San Farms area) and Round Up gets the over achiever award for Chuck Norris Merkins!!

Island started with pledge and slammed 10 burpees on us!!! Next we mosey to turd shack parking lot and partner for Dora with nur , lbc, flutters and another an exercise I think
Went for some dips and derkins and reassemble for 55 …. one merkin and plank jacks? Math was about as spotty as my memory of that day!
Best part was circle up one pax nurs crowd but calls out exercise …. best was last JJ hit everyone with THEIR called exercise

1/2 crazy

This has been a rather intense year for me running another 10 miler ( correctly ) and not hurting self in the process, running 3 5ks, Spartan Sprint, Warrior Dash, Bonefrog Sprint and A lot of boot camps and running AOs. So earlier this year ( can’t remember if it was at Mount Hollywood in April or even earlier ( which is what I suspect) at the Storm there was discussion of what WE all want to accomplish this year or in the near future. When I spoke of a 1/2 marathon Orangeman issued a challenge realizing all I had on plate for the year but advising me of how late in the year the Santa Hustle was ….. that I should consider it, and I did and am so glad not only to him but also to Breaker Breaker who many times ran with me at the Pub as we have a similar time ( although he’s gotten faster recently) and to a couple of guys along the way for their advice.
Upon arriving today I noticed Gump finishing up with his lovely 2.0 on the fun run and this got me stoked for my turn at the race!
Several of the key players were present waiting for the 1/2 to start and a few others for the 5k.
The 1/2 started first with Breaker Termite and myself huddled back towards the 10-11 mile section At the start gate and Orangeman Tiger and Doodles all closer to the front. It was an amazing accomplishment for myself and Doodles who finished just ahead of me for our first 1/2 marathon each.  Breaker Breaker definitely did better than last year as he told all afterwards  And Tiger spoke to me later of having done a number of these races over the years.
During the 5k my M and Oompas M sported their reindeer outfits and walked along with TimeFrames M. Time Frame, both his 2.0s and my 2.0 ran the race as well as Oompa Loompa and Oompa sported Vuvuzela as well as an unnamed pax from Rock Hill.
The weather was perfect, the course like last year had to be modified due to excessive rains But still remained challenging.

any contemplating a run at next years 1/2…. reach out to any or several of those who ran this year …. you will not regret the experience!

As we are assembling, Oompa Loompa looks in bed of my truck to see … Coupons! And decides he’s taking a zero on today’s “Pop” quiz!
As he wanders to the track …. with the fog settling in Linus suddenly remarks how Oompa looks just like a deer heading off into the woods to die!!

Then we lunged to light pole and lunges back
Round 2 press /curls/ pull throughs ( or push)
Lunge
Round 3 curls / squats/ lay on ground for chest press and lunge
Found 4 repeats last set and lunge for time!

Everyone seemed moderately confused and kept thinking maybe if we half the half of the half or the third …. there were some mentions of obscene math problems …. but
There were 5 exercises in the warm up done 2 times
They were done in cadence ( meaning double numbers ) 13x …. translates to 26 two times
Distance for lunges was 7 parking spaces which roughly translates to 52 feet
With your partner … you should only have been doing 1/2 of each exercise (104) …. which is 52

The Ol Q Switchero

Approximately a month ago at Neverland ( Which is nevermore) I saw an opportunity to issue 2 challenges for the 2 remaining Q-Less moments left in 2019 At the Labyrinth … both were not accepted but the pax cheered Island on til he accepted and our newest ( at the time ) site Q accepted the other date. And then the machinery started whirring and I checked the dates and seeing an open date for The Sandlot called upon Stinky Bird with my plans …and He Loved it!!
I Tweeted that there may be confusion this week and used the KaBobbles ad from Lunchables to cement it.
Stinky Bird led us in the pledge and then into 21 SSH s …. supposedly 10 merkins ( he called for 10 IC AND ALMOST …kept going) 20 MNCs and then sprang the trap asking if anyone had ever heard of “the ol Q Switchero?” And handed off to YHC!
I then led them around Snoballs and stopped asking if anyone was confused …. Dirt acknowledged bring Corn Fused mostly from his years in the agricultural belt. So I had us head over to sidewalk in front of Snoballs looking both ways to act as if I had no clue…. and off we head to the park ending up at Clavins Hill but first we plank for the six. Now we Will do 1 merkin, bear crawl up and 10 monkey humpers at the top. Thankfully I’m asked what will we do next and I respond with a hearty “YES!”
Remember ….. mixed up day …. crawl bear down … be careful though!
Over to the soccer field where we do monkey humpers for the six and …..
at the 25 yard line do 25 merkins and run back
Now to 25 yd line for 25 merkins and proceed to 50 yard line and 50 monkey humpers and back to 25 for more merkins
Do you see a pattern? Yep I used this one before and it’s a REAL crowd pleaser!
Back to start and …. yep … 25-50 and next was add 75 plank jacks ( turf tearing up time!!) oops
Back down 50-25 – start.
Now 25-50-75 … oddly everyone seemed to be about the 90 yard line ….and 100 yard line for 100 SSH …. and back down ! Yippee! Lbcs for the six ( this was original exercise I used last year instead of the monkey humpers )
Mosey to the turD shack and line up facing it for Jack Webb’s up to 10 and back to 1 … man that’s fun !
Now we line up for an “ Indian Run “ without the run and since we’re mixed up today we will slow mosey and last man will nur to front and do this to the gates where we do 10 big bois for the non existent Turtleman …. will he EVER return? This is that weird pitfall from last couple of years where a site Q disappears after turning site over. Back to start and I call on Watts up who delivers reverse crunches, Defib with 20 American Hammers … I call out “A Side Straddle hop!” Which earns some mumble , but not as much as Bed pan who calls for his favorite Hillbilly squats !! I think it may have been 10 in cadence ,,,, but who knows?!??? Mixed up day and all that !! JJ WITH 40 IC flutters … whew!!
And there’s 45 seconds with Island for some Lbcs … and time!!!!
