John 11:35

Some ran and some walked, we all got better.

Our Study

John 11:35 – Jesus Wept.

Our verse this week, is about how Jesus came to earth and was fully man and fully god. In being a man, he felt anger, (Matthew 21:12-13), he felt sorrow (John 11:35),  humor and sarcasm (Matthew 23:24).

He also felt pain.  There no pain is greater than the pain Jesus went through for us.  He felt the lashings, the beatings, the crown of thorns, and the nails. He did this all while carry the burden of man’s sin. This is pain we will never be able to comprehend and he did for our salvation.

All burdens we carry are lifted if you accept, believe, worship, repent, and do what Jesus call us to do.

My shared prayer:

“As I begin to walk, the hardships of this past year come to mind. You took my father’s body and my mother’s mind. I grieved when you took our daughter, whom you called us to nurse back to life and gave her away to another. I watched powerlessly as our son lost hope in you after the death of his best friend. And all the while, you make me tell my mother everyday that I am her son and that her husband has died. I do not understand “the why” in these burdens.

The pain in my leg is beginning to hurt.  I think how we serve you lord and now much we need you. I pray for help, I pray guidance, and  I pray for leadership. I read and study your word and I know you listen, but I lack patience and discipline. I am selfish Lord, this is not my life to live but yours.

It is very painful to walk now and I thank you.  Thank you for hardships of the past year. I am closer to you. I trust in you and I know that you will provide me the strength to continue to do the works you have called me to do. I am committed to you lord and thank you for providing me an abundance of grace. Thank you for my wife, my children, my family and friends. Thank you for my home, my work, and the opportunities to grow closer to you.

I am forever yours. Amen.”

Let’s Do Some Leg Work

The morning started awful. YHC let the weather win in the AM and YHC’s mind just was not focused on getting better.

The day progressively turned for the better starting with a great word by Sparky at our non official morning Bible study.   Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

As the sun fell, it was time for Starkville and time to get right and get better,

The Thang:

Quick mosey to the shelter.

Sets of the following:

  • 60 Imperial Walkers or Hillbillies
  • 50 Squats
  • 40 Step ups
  • 30 Lunges
  • 25 Merkins

We increased the the quantity by 5 then till the Step Ups got to 60 then reduced the quantity by five as we watched comedic videos to disrupt out counting.

We then moseyed back to the flag for prayers and COT.

This was a simple yet effective weinke. Thank you for the opportunity to lead.

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Thanks to Wichita and Stogie for making the trip down from my home AO of Folsom. It is always good to see PAX posting outside there normal AO.

Great work by all and thank you for the opportunity to lead.

If you called into ministry, missionary, or service, go.

Deep Thoughts by Oompa Loompa

YHC rolled into Starkville about 10 minutes early to find all the PAX ready to go.  We took the weights up to the well lit tennis courts and set up 6 stations.

Station 1

  • 25 lbs – Squats

Station 2

  • 10 lbs each hand – Randys

Station 3

  • 10 lbs – LBC’s

Station 4

  • 15 lbs each hand – Triceps

Station 5

  • 3.5 lbs each hand – Moroccan Nightclubs

Station 6

  • 40 lbs – Curls

We listened to a nice selection of metal music, rotating stations at the end of each song. Right before time was up, we carried the weights back to start.

We did 22 merkins for the troops and then finished up with the pledge and COT.

Thanks to Oompa for the life long lessons learned this wonderful evening. Lessons like to “never take any responsibility” and to “be sure to go to the bathroom right before people start to pick up the chairs” at a church event. This was important information taught by a man with the ability to adapt, survive and excel in any situation.   This information has been logged in the Starkville Rolodex for future retrieval.

Thanks to all for the opportunity to lead.

James 2:26 “For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.”

61

When most of us think of the number 61, we think of baseball. Whether its Roger Maris’s home run record or maybe Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver who each had 61 shutouts.

At Folsom, the number 61 has a different meaning. Today marked the 61st day Allen Tate has failed to post at Folsom. 9 HIM’S honored this day by putting in some hard work to better themselves and those around them.

The Thang

  • Mosey to tennis courts for 4 corners.
  • Set One

A Thankful Folsom

4 HIMS got out there to get in some work before a great day of fellowship ahead. We took a mosey around Folsom stopping at various locations. We did a variety of exercises and had fellowship on past Q’s.

A few stops/ memories remembered were:

  • Medicine Woman letting us all know that nur spelled backwards was run
  • Montross and the calve raisers
  • Huckleberry and the wall work
  • Tolkein and the Merkins/ laps
  • HIPPA and the crazy he put us through
  • King Pin has a heck of a jump shot with the Bobby Hurley’s

Once back to the to the flag we did COT, Volt’s farmers market, and Prayers.

Moleskin

During the workout, we stopped at 4 places were YHC almost made to the decision give up and never to post again.

  1. During my first post, the PAX took off  for a mosey and YHC could not run to the end of the parking lot.  Def Leppard came back and did fellowship mosey with YHC and encouraged me throughout the workout. Thank You Def Leppard
  2. On my third post, YHC was tired, sore and was sick tired of being in pain continuously.  For whatever reason, Oompa Loompa stayed with YHC throughout the whole work out. Encouaging and pushing me. Thank You Oompa Loompa
  3. On my first weekday post, It was raining and freezing cold. There was only three of us that Gumby, the always reliable Volt, and YHC. We were taking a quick mosey and YHC was thinking to myself this is stupid. I stopped halfway 100% sure that I was done with this idiocy. Gumby came back and picked me up but pushed me through the rest of the work out.   It finally clicked that it not just a work out. Thank you Gumby.
  4. Finally about 3 months later, during a Q with a lot running, YHC was about to just give up, walk back to the car and call it a day. But Hacksaw in all his HIMness, was not having any of it. He pushed and pushed me and was not going to let me stop until we were back to the flag. At the time is was not even a third of a mile, but YHC have not run that far continually in over 20 years.  It was a big event for YHC. Thank you Hacksaw.

By posting more and more, YHC got involved in other F’s and events.  Thank you Sparky for convincing me to do my first 5K. Thank you Huck, and Allen Tate for inviting me to the House of Hims.  Thank you Montross for convincing me to get out there for a Speed for Need event.  Thank you Bedpan for being a solid stone. You have helped me more than you will ever know.

Thank you to all of Folsom and F3 Gastonia. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Big Pappy
