Never forget those who gave all or even some so that we can enjoy all that we do!

Old Faithful – 20 to 1

As I joined The Matrix via Zoom this morning, I immediately saw Sledgeomatic and could tell he had some things running through his mind. It was 5:31 am so I’m sure those questions were “am I all alone”, “who is the Q”, “should I go back to bed”…things like that. No one else was online so the 2 of us decided to put in some work! Since the Ville to Ville Relay is coming up this weekend, I wanted to keep it low impact and focus on coupon work.

Warmup –
SSH and Don Quixotes

Thang –
20 to 1 coupon work. I grabbed a cinder block, Sledge had the kettlebell of his choice (I can neither confirm nor deny he used a Bulldog). We started with 20 reps of each exercise, then 19, then 18…all the way to 1.

Exercises were:

Overhead Press
Curls
Tricep Extensions
Goblet Squats
LBCs

The humidity made it very unpleasant, for sure. That suffering was, however, exceeded by the privilege of getting some work in with Sledge. Thanks for joining!

Prayer Requests: Sledgeomatic’s and Montross’s 2.0s, HIPAA, all those facing the Mental Battle, Montross’s Aunt. YHC took us out in prayer.

  • Montross

Solo at Starkville

YHC felt like he was back in junior high. YHC created a sweet mixtape with no one to give it too.  The playlist included snippets from Adrian Cronauer,  Snoopy vs the Red Baron,  Ragged Old Flag, and the Ballad of the Green Berets.

YHC took a mosey to the horse stables and went through the F3 deck of pain, less the lunges, (YHC did plenty of those at Mt Hollywood.) then mosey back to start.

Prayers

  • Sister Act
  • Def Leopard
  • All Pax

Digger Day 2/2

While no one seemed to care about a non-running GD workout (about as rare as a Leppard merkin), PAX came crawling out of the woodwork for an all-running GD workout (about as common as an SA fart).

9 PAX joined in Plan A, 5 stayed for Plan B, which made us about as 69 compliant as Slaw in the navy.

Plan A was to run as far as possible, stopping every quarter mile for either 5 burpees, 10 merkins, 15 squats, or 20 SSH. Most got around 4.5 miles.

Plan B was to chill out at the flag and do the AMRAP crap from Digger Day 1/2. I think all agreed Plan A was preferable.

Until next time,

GD

Digger Day 1/2

Been a while since YHC has graced the Goat with his presence, so it seemed about time to rectify this situation. The AO was brimming with excitement at the thought of a post-quarantine beatdown, which was exemplified by the large number of PAX in attendance.

The above was sarcastic, the below was not.

42 minutes of AMRAP crap rotating through body parts like Frankenstein creating his monster. Show to know.

Until next time (11.25 hours later),

GD

New pavement

Even though a warning for today’s workout was posted, 7 HIM showed for the fresh Friday beatdown.  A quick disclaimer and then the warmup.

Don Quixotes

Moroccan Night Clubs

Press Press Fling (Roscoe didn’t post even though he was directly called to do so)

Mosey to the west to where Pita Wheel is going in. Start Route 66, merkin style. Ascending reps at each telephone pole up to 10 reps. Seuss and Slaw were pushing the rock on this one.

Mosey west again until we arrived at the brand new First ARP Church parking lot.

The Thang: Doracides 1-2-3-4

Partner up without touching. Partner one runs suicides while partner two does the following:

  • 100 CDDs
  • 200 Squats
  • 300 LBCs
  • 400 Air Presses

Good sweat was laid down on this one. Mosey all the way around the block back to the front steps of the church for Deep Sea Divers. We got in a couple levels of this before YHC called Omaha due to continued rib issues. If you can’t Q it, don’t do it, right?

Back to the parking lot for a round of Bear Crawl Ring of Fire, Tesla would be so proud. Plank position while one PAX bear crawls around the circle. When he passes each PAX that guy does 5 merkins. Everyone takes turns going around the circle until we finished…bearly!

Mosey east on 2nd Ave. until we got to South St. Nur up the hill to McQuitters wall for a session of steps up. Nice. Mosey back to the pavilion and plank until time is up.

Pledge of Allegiance

Thanks for the opportunity to lead today men. AYE!

Announcements: Ville to Ville relay Saturday the 30th

Prayer requests: Clavin’s M, Whoopee’s 2.0, Sister Act’s 2.0, Def Leppard’s son

Buttermilk for Breakfast in Belmont

So YHC has a reputation for putting on a challenging workout and has been of late alluding to that fact in pre workout that it’s coming using the term “buttermilk” to announce it. Will, after two months of no Fighting Yank, yHC took he wheel and decided to amp things up there for the first real summer workout at the AO. Went like this:

Mosey over to the parking lot beside the park where Mugshots used to be.

Arm Stretches, 1 minute

2 Burpees OYO

SSH X 20

4 Burpees

IW X 20

6 burpees

Copperhead squats X 15

8 Burpees

Grapevine stretches X 1 minute

LBCs X 20

10 burpees

Mosey over to Heart

break Hill for some halfpipe action as follows:

Top of hearbreak: 10 plank jacks.

Bottom of hill: 10 HR merkins

Top of the hill by the Fighting Yank: Butt to the street Monkey humpers X 10

Over to the Field of Dreams for BLIMPS.

P1 – run the field and back

P2 – do the work per the BLIMP (Burpees, lunges, IWs, Merkins, Plank jacks, Squats)

Mosey up to the Corner of Knowledge for some core and UB work.

Dips, stepups, dirkins X 10, 15, 20

Mosey to the other end of the school house.

10 jump squats

10 Mike Tysons

Back to the corner:

10 Bulgarian Split squats

10 Elevated big boy situps.

Rinse and repeat 2X.

Back to the Field for Dreams for A Tesla Staple, Bear Crawl Slalom on a newly mowed field!

This was problematic. Sand burs all over the place. So we had to abandon the prime plan and fall back and improvise. Which we did! Used the track and ran thru the slalom. Worked well!

End of slalom, 10 SSH, 10 squats.

Quarter lap, 10 merkins, 10 LBCs.

Quarter lap: 10 big boy sit ups.

Mosey to the Yank and we’re done!

NMM:

Great to be back in the saddle and see two 2nd posters in Worm and PP. Had a great coffeteria/breakfast afterwards, which I am going to push we do every Saturday as well as our Friday Happy Hour at The Station. We have and are going through a trying time now but you have to get this is where opportunity is born. And one of the things we need to be doing as a group is getting together and figuring that out in the 2nd F.  And you can’t do that unless you go to 2nd F. So let’s get on that too men!

Expecting a Metro contingent in June for Operation Livermush V 2.0. More later. Also, looking at a special July 4 workout to do our Declaration reading. More later but plan on being there.

Tesla Out!
