Some ran! Some stayed at the truck and did 500 merkins! For real 😳, everyone got better!

Todays scripture is 2 Corinthians 5:21

” For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Wow!! God is truly that good, and sooo many times I take the sacrifice he made for granted!

I found some words from Piper describing this verse.
“ How will you worship your redeemer if you do not know what he has done for you? “

God laid our sin on Christ and punished them in him!

God credits to us what we don’t deserve, through Christ obedience!

Christ is Gods answer to our greatest problem!

👆that’s the gospel!

Sword 07-06-2020

Easy Q.  Showed up and some ran, rucked or got after it another way.  Finished around 6:00 and gave Huckleberry a hard time.

The verse:  I looked at the verse of the day on my app for the Fourth of July to see what would pop up on our Independence Day with our current climate and it was James 1:17.  It was a little disappointing at first, but digging back thru and getting the back story and not just settling on that snip, we had some great discussion.  It started with verse 2 to “consider it joy whenever you face trials because that testing the faith produces perseverance and continued to state that if you lack wisdom, pray, but you must believe and have no doubt because you’ll be like the wave, blown and tossed by the wind.

Man was there some good discussion on how this related perfectly to our current times and lots of others had personal examples from many different items thru very different views.

I forgot the pledge so that’s on me.

Don’t worry

7 men posted at The Sword this morning.  The Word today was Philippians 4:6-8

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Prayer requests: each other, our country, Sparky’s uncle, Mayor’s coworker.

Jars of clay

2 Corinthians 4:7

But we have this treasure in jars of Clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not us!

I pulled in to ingles parking lot around 10 till 6, shins are giving me a little bit of trouble so I didn’t run this morning but I have the privilege this week to bring a good word to those who came!
when I pulled up I saw Big Pappys son, F3 Nothing waiting, he had started early this morning and had already finished his run. Then I see Wichita running in, shortly after here comes Rabbit Ears, Newton, and Mr Pibbs!
they get in, catch there breath and we get started!

I shared the verse, which was part of yesterday’s message at church, explaining that we are the jars of Clay, in the verse, and the treasure is the gospel! The good news of Of salvation through Jesus! But a lot of times the church is more worried about the jars then the treasure! We tend to at times take our focus off of Christ and turn it towards ourselves! This is something we have to fight to keep from happening, and it’s not complicated! But sometimes hard to do! It’s not complicated in that all we need to do is chase after Christ, seek his glory in what we do, this will keep our eyes on Him and us in check as we go about life. But… hard to do in that we are prone to wonder, get prideful, bite the hook of temptation at times, rely on ourselves and not God. But I am thankful I know a God who can flood the jars with grace and forgiveness wash the junk out! Remember men, tomorrow is a new day, the first day of the rest of your life! I just put my oldest son to bed for the night and we talked about this awesome forgiveness that the Lord gives us, it’s like having a new day, a fresh start! He doesn’t hang to what you done, and doesn’t want us to either, nope, he says put your eyes back on me and let’s roll! hope you all have a good week!
Prayer request- Roscoe, AT, Stone cold, our country, Roundup Wife , Huck

LOOK FORWARD

Some HIM’s worked on breathing exercises by running.

Verse of the week:

Philippians 3:14   I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.  ESV

So what is the upward call of God in Christ Jesus? That call is our Sanctification or being molded more into the image of Christ. It’s impossible to be become more like Jesus when we’re looking in the rear view mirror of our lives, whether  we’re looking and dwelling on past sin we committed, or that was committed against us, or reveling in our past accomplishments or “mountain top experiences”… either way, looking back and not looking up to Christ will lead to defeat.

Prayer Requests:

Our Nation, Our Leaders, Police Officer’s and First Responders, Mayor’s Wife, SA’s daughter and family, RoundUps Wife and Family

Thanks men for the opportunity to lead!

Wichita out and on to the next one

Luke 23:43

Pulled into the Sword a couple minutes early to see the Mayor and Purple Haze ready time go, 530 hits and we each get in a couple miles!
600 we meet back at the truck for a verse, and Wichita is there waiting!

Luke 23:43 And he said to him, “truly I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Those are the words Jesus said to the thief that hung on the cross next to him, who had lived his whole life in sin and disobedience, until this point! In the last hours of his life, he truly repented of his sins and trusted Jesus to save him! And Jesus did!
God is staggeringly merciful!

But… There is a “too late” that is spoken of in scripture. In Hebrews 12:17, it spoke about Esau, it says “He found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.”  He could not repent.

And there are there are others who never seek repentance, this life is all the good they will ever see.

Today is the day of repentance, don’t let it pass.

Prayer requests- SAs daughter and family, James Gudlock, our nation!

“Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Psalms 34:8

“Taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man that takes refuge in Him!”

We have all at some point tasted and seen that the Lord is good! From that feeling you get when you’re standing on top of a mountain, admiring Gods work, walking by a lake, or feeling a cool breeze under a shade tree. We taste Gods goodness through so many things! All of these things are only a taste of Gods goodness, but hopefully they will help point us towards more! Towards a relationship with the Lord!

Prayer requests- each other, community

Sword Isaiah 26:3-4

Isaiah 26:3-4

3 You keep him in perfect piece whose mind is stayed on you, because he trust in you.

4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting ROCK.

There are a lot of things in this world that promise piece, but the only one that can deliver is God!

We might find refuge for a season in something or someone, these things are temporary and crumbling, this is very evident in what’s going on right now! But… God is an everlasting and steady ROCK!

Matthew 7:24-27 is about the man who builds his house on the ROCK, the storms came and the winds blew but his house stood! Then there is the man who built his house on the sand, the storms came and the winds blew and his house fell, and great was the fall!

We see two different men here… 1 Is the man who’s faith is in Jesus the “ROCK”. 2 is the man who heard Jesus words and did not do them, he has no piece and hope in the storms of life.

Jesus offers a piece that the world cannot offer, through His life, death, and resurrection! And if we repent “ turn from our sins” and put our trust in Him to save us, we will have a piece that this world cannot offer! This doesn’t mean we will have a trouble free care free life, but a life that knows and trust God who holds and keeps us in and through all of life’s troubles!

He is our everlasting ROCK!

the word for this morning: “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Men,  it’s impossible not to be a hypocrite sometimes,  nobody is perfect.  It is however important that we strive to stay away from hypocritical choices.  We can’t expect our families and anyone else we may influence to live Godly lives if we aren’t pursuing a Godly life ourselves.  We have to hate evil, really hate it. We should hate Sin to the point where if we catch ourselves in sin, we immediately stop, walk away and ask for forgiveness.  Again I know we’re not perfect, these are things we need to strive for.  Cling to what is good.  Jesus is the ultimate Good!  Cling to Him, get to know Him through the word!
