Sister Wives

Earlier in the week, YHC had to travel to Utah for a vendor meeting. While out there, I got a message from Stroganoff asking about the open Q at the Gashouse for the upcoming Saturday. YHC had already gotten several messages about being in Utah after posting about a trail run so I knew there was some decent material to create a weinke.

With the threat of rain looming, YHC arrived to find a number of guys already circled up and ready to go. The rain drops started to fall almost exactly as 0700 hit the clock. No FNGs so the disclaimer was short.

Warm-Up
SSH x 15
Merkins x 15
LBCs x 15

Mosey as a group to the flag at the front of the Schiele for the Pledge.

At that point, the Pain Lab PAX were going to go back and do their thing while the rest of us were headed towards Grier. I looked back to see how many of the PAX were going in each direction, and I quickly realized I needed to work on the marketing in the pre-Q message on twitter. Roscoe had the Pain Lab Q. He’d sent out a message with a ripped Arnold Schwarzenegger and the promise to get swole. YHC had sent out a gif of a pale guy in a skin tight Utah Jazz uniform doing some weird gyration. Can’t blame anyone for making that choice. Roscoe EH’d me and was Q at my first post so I have nothing but respect for the push he gives when he has the Q. Had YHC not been Q, there may have been one more in the Pain Lab PAX.

The plan for the Utah-inspired weinke had been work with multiple partners. We typically partner up in groups of 2, but the idea was to work in groups of 3 or 4. However, there were only 5 so breaking off into groups wouldn’t work. So we would just work in one big sister wife group of 5.

The group moseyed to the track at Grier for an Indian run in a lap around the track.

Mosey to the Grier parking lot out front for a couple of rounds of Conveyer Belt. Each Sister Wife would line up on a parking space line in the plank position. The PAX on the end would bear crawl to the other end of the line while the other PAX would move down one line towards the line that was just vacated. Once the bear crawling PAX hit the other end, the group did 10 merkins. Then, the next PAX now on the end would bear crawl to the other end, everyone moves down one line, 10 more merkins. Rinse and repeat until all 5 PAX had bear crawled to the other end. This was repeated with lunges to the end of the line, Al Gore while he lunged, and 10 squats once he got to the end until all 5 PAX had lunged.

Mosey to the steps at FPC steps for a round of BOMBS (Burpees, OH Claps, Merkins, Big Boy Sit Ups, Squats). One Sister Wife would run up the steps and back down while the others performed the given exercise. Once all 5 of the PAX had run/down the stairs, we’d move on to the next exercise.

Mosey to the top of the stairs. Since the theme was multiple partners, we had to get in a little OPP (OH Clap, Plank Jacks, Peter Parkers). Mosey down the back road and stop at the bottom of the hill. OH Clap x 20. Mosey to the bottom of the stairs. Plank Jacks x 20. Mosey up the stairs. Peter Parkers x 20. Let’s run that back. Mosey down the stairs. OH Clap x 20. Mosey towards the bottom of the hill. Plank Jacks x 20. Mosey up the back road. Peter Parkers x 20.

Now for a round of Dora with a slight twist. This is usually done with one partner, but that didn’t fit the theme. So we did something similar to the earlier BOMBS in which one Sister Wife ran down the stairs and back up while the others performed Merkins, LBCs, and Squats. One trip up/down per PAX for each exercise.
Mosey back to the Schiele using the back road down the hill and behind FPC. We got back with no sight of the Pain Lab PAX so we took an extra lap around the parking lot to kill time.

Quick round of Mary. We may have done something before, but I know we did flutter kicks. Then, the ball was passed to Short Sale. By the time he chose an exercise and did the demonstration, the bell was ringing. Time was up.

During the mosey from Grier to FPC, the discussion was around a friend of a PAX who was a smoker and not in good shape. The fear was him coming out to post and having a heart attack. It was noted by another PAX that he was going to have a heart attack sitting on the couch and smoking. “Plus, I know CPR B*tch.” If that’s not encouragement enough to EH someone, I’m not sure what is.

Cod Possum returns for Fartsackapalooza

Six men took their #DRP and resisted the comforts of their fartsacks. This was a smaller crowd than what seems to be the new normal, but what we lacked in numbers, we made up for in work.  There were various reasons why people didn’t show: work, sandy V, etc… Cod Possum, which is Roadie’s brother was back for the second day in a row.  Roadie was running late by his time (still way early on Sparky’s time).  At 0530 it was time to clock in.

Warmup: Gravel pickers, Hillbilly and SSH all x 10IC.

Mosey to the flag.  On the way we stopped for sandy V and WW2 x 25.  At the flag: pledge, 22 for the Vets and LBC x 25.

Mosey to the Amphitheater and partner up.  P1 holds balls to the wall; P2 does the exercise.  Exercises were 10 burpees, 20 merkins and 30 lbcs.

Mosey to the lower shelter. Dips and step ups. Rinse and repeat.

Time was running low so we mosey back to launching point for Mary.   Exercises were Freddy Mercury, lbcs, v ups and one other.

TIME

Annoucements: Patriot 5k and Memorial Day Murph.  Post somewhere.  Warrior Dash.

Prayer requests: the Self family, Oompa’s Father in Law, Allen Tate’s Mother in Law, kids taking exams… and something I feel like I’m missing.  Sorry men, but the Lord knows.

BOM: Allen Tate took us out in prayer.

NMM: guys its been tough getting back at it and staying at it. Feels almost like starting over. But i appreciate the fellowship and the friendship and the push to stay with it. This is one special brotherhood. And in the world we live in today it is much needed and appreciated. Much love for my f3 brothers.

Chief Allen Tate

The Possum Has Arrived

Even though Folsom has recently become “The Premier Running AO in Dallas,” some PAX choose to use this time for rucking also. Today marks another successful WO. Dating back several months, the newly awarded Chief Rockpusher, Allen Tate, has proclaimed “there will be an FNG who gets the name Cod Possum.” This has been a bit of an inside joke, but as of today, it is no longer as such. I give the man credit. Allen Tate pushed for the name to be awarded to some 2.0s last week during 2.0 Day at Folsom without success. This morning was different. It was in the air, you could smell it. With the possibility of Roadies brother posting brought new life to Allen Tate’s mission of branding such name.

Enough of the prequel, let’s clock in.

pledge

thang

several ran, several rucked. Lots of mumble chatter and high fives during the activities. This is actually a great opportunity to get to know each other and hash out life. Not being a runner, something continues to drive YHC to be better at it; makes no sense really. Anyway, after a few miles of asphalt and sweat, the PAX come back together at the start. Way to push Men!

So, we have an FNG. Many say it was predetermined what this lucky young man would be named, but there were ample opportunities for him to provide info which could deter said determination. After several questions by the PAX, there was only one name that really fit and the timing couldn’t have been better. So, without further ado, Folsom welcomes Cod Possum. Looking forward to seeing you in the gloom brother.

Announcements: Warrior Dash June 2, Vigil at Surf n Turf 8pm tonight, Brody Holloway speaking at Venture about this past weekends event for the youth and families, open worship and prayer Thursday night 6:30 at Venture.

Prayers continued for the Self, George, and Burns families. Prayers especially for Roger Self(he needs them now more than ever)

Bedpan took us out

Men, this has been a rough past few days for the Dallas community. We have witnessed a man of God, a true leader and believer in Christ do something imaginable. Myself, struggling with anxiety and depression for over 20 years, can understand that this is a Disease! It’s something to never take lightly. It’s an illness that no one should ever have to battle. I’m here to tell you that if you do battle it, these F3 guys are going to come up to you, grab hold of that burden, and walk with you every step of the way! When things like this happen, it’s not time to ask why or how could this happen. It’s time to pray, reach out to those involved, and continue to be a strong spiritual presence when needed. You men have helped teach me what love and brotherhood is really about. Life is going to be hard, but always remember you will not have to walk it alone. Honored to be a part of this group!

Is it raining?

This morning was a good reminder that we missed spring with the rain and humidity I knew today would be moisty. I just heard that word for the first time in a morning meeting. My Man Volt upped his game with a weighted vest this morning, then Pastor Clever had to park at the top of Folsom and join in with us at the pledge. I believe Sparky must had told him the time was 535 not 530 but either way he is a fast runner and caught up quickly.
Before that we did start at 530 after a good discussion on insurance companies to choose and always provide good service to the people you are working for not the guy who left the scene(soapbox needed)with that if you read this and sale insurance you might want to bring some business cards if you post at Folsom.
Let’s get started
Ssh x15
Hillbillies x15
Imperial walkers x15
Burpees x5
Squats x15
Let’s mosey to the flag for the pledge, who’s that ms Parker looks like Pastor Clever coming in hot .
Lbcs x20
Mountain climbers x20
Shoulder presses x20
Let’s mosey some more in this wonderful misty rain and humidity so thick we had to chop through it. I didn’t know I could sweat this much.
Bottom shelter
Dips x20
Derkins x 10
Dips x 20
Step up x 25
Time for some team work
One guy takes a lap while the other does the exercise
Lbcs x 150
WWII x 50
Squats x 100
Mosey up to the tennis courts for some lunges and burpees
Lunge one court 2 burpees then lunge another adding two burpees per line. Then sprint back to the end. Finished with 22merkins for the vets.
Moleskin:
This is my 3rd Q so far I was wondering if I would fall face first following Apache’s Q Tuesday. Close to the end of the morning I went back to get the 6 and Volt yelled out just start without me and I thought well I could but that ain’t F3 and it definitely ain’t me. I laughed and ran back stayed close didn’t say much cause Volt speaks more in actions than words. But it did remind me of what Apache said we are all the 6. FYI Volt did chuckle when I came back and said I know string of pearls man. Just a great reminder in F3 if you are in the front or back someone is always by your side.

Announcements Memorial Day 5k or the murph at the dark knight.
Mud run coming up. Also this weekend at Folsom is our 2.0 day this Saturday 7am. I believe Hipaa is bringing the pain lab also.

Prayer request Montrosses Mom has eye surgery keep her in your prayers, pray for our families and those in need.

The Bedpan is full.

“No boot camp this AM?”

With all the rain and storms in the forecast, YHC wasn’t exactly optimistic about the turn out for the third week of Prison Break at Folsom. As you know, the PAX at Folsom have opened up Wednesday mornings for a Run/Ruck WO. This morning was a lighter crowd, but some are healing from injuries. Good to see Sargento roll in with 2.0, Queso. He was ready to roll with gloves in hand. I comment that he didn’t need his gloves today. Sargento says “what? What do you mean?” Apparently he had missed the memo that Wednesday’s has been declared Run/Ruck. Slightly disappointed there wasn’t gonna be a beatdown WO, he was up for a cool mosey. Clock in at 5:33.

6 men ran and 2 men rucked. Sparky and Clever were setting the pace while YHC just tried to breathe. Sargento hung back to chat with me while pushing myself and Queso to the next level. Hank and Roadie set out from start on a record pace with 30 pounds on their backs. The Rucker’s posted about 2.5 miles at 15:13 pace I believe! Nice work. I held back Sargento along with Queso for 3.4 miles. I’m sure sparky and Clever posted a bit more.  We did learn that Sargento was actually 54? Who knew? #Respect

Announcements: Warrior dash June 2.

Prayer requests: ourselves, our families. Wisdom from Sparky to love our wives, pray over them daily, lead them as Christ teaches us to.

Sparky took us out in prayer.

I just want to say, this F3 thing is the real deal! These men are real men! The fellowship within this group is real. I can, without a doubt, say that these men will have your back no matter what. I’m blessed to be a part of it and look forward to what’s to come. Keep pushing the rock men and thank you for pushing me.

the most fun you can have while being miserable

14 other joined YHC for my first Q at Midoriyama in quite some time.   Everyone showed ready to run, because you all know YHC loves to run.  I planned at getting at least a 1k in today.  Blart posted twice today just because he knew we’d be running.

Once 1730 hit it was time to clock in.

Warmups: 8ct body builders, merkins, side straddle hops and lbcs.

Mosey.

Stop for deconstructed burpees.  This was a crowd pleaser. Start at 10 and worked out way down to 1.

Mosey down to Hamburger Hill.  Half way there YHC was thinking how I thought this hill was much closer.  Oh well.

Partner up.  P1 crawls bear down the hill and bear crawls back up.  P2 does merkins.  Switch. After one round it was agreed this was stupid.  No one at the city has bothered cutting this hill since 2016.

Lunge walk, Nur and mosey back to the parking lot closest to the hill.  We started to do deconstructed burpees again but it didn’t seem to be a crowd pleaser.

All you got run to a desired location.  Stop for merkins I think.

All you got run. Stop for 22 for the Vets.

Lunge, Nur and Mosey to the turd shack.

Partner up again.  P1 does Australian mountain climbers while P2 does 50 lbcs.  Repeat changing lbcs for merkins.  Repeat again changing merkins for squats.

Circle up at the launching point for Mary.  merkins, boat to canoe and some sort of weird merkin hipaa picked.

Announcements: Memorial Day Murph, Patriot 5k, 2.0 friendly workout at Folsom this Saturday and Pain Lab will also be there.

Prayer requests: Freight’s Grandmother, Def Leppard’s son, Allen Tate’s mother in law, each other.

I appreciate the chance to Q and I appreciate all of you men.

Gashouse is Fun

Another special day at Gashouse with a special guest that runs the 85 Podcast.  Welcome to Zach Brown (Cod(cast)).

More than a few for some EC running before the workout (this F3 thing won’t work in Gaston County).

Good crowd showing just before 7:00 and wait, how about a couple of Kotters….Dr. Feelgood & QT.  Let’s get it on.

With the FNG/Podcaster on site, we had the disclaimer and short question about the Painlab.  Hipaa and Rudolph were the only ones so they decided to join the Stroganoff bootcamp…….excellent.

Quick IC warm-up:

SSH X 15

Imperial Walkers X 10

Pledge

Let’s get after it.

The Thang

Mosey up to the main parking lot at Grier Middle School for some modified Stroganoff’s:

Bear crawl across parking lot – 10 Mountain Climbers – Lunge Back (That’s one)

Rinse-Repeat for a total of 5.

Mosey to the steps at First Presbyterian Church (a favorite Gashouse location) for the Rally to 1000 – leg & shoulder edition:

Partner up – Partner 1 performs called exercise – Partner 2 runs to top of steps under overhang – 5 CDD’s and returns and switches positions with Partner 1; cumulative reps as follows:

Mountain Climbers X 200

Squats X 200

Moroccan Nightclubs X 200

Calf Raises X 200 (Our FNG got a taste of F3 fellowship when the Q called these leg raises; several of the PAX chastised the Q for this (rightly so I might add) so the Q reminded them they were all #1 in his heart……oops)

Overhead Claps X 200

8 groups – 1000 reps each – 8000 reps total – nice work

Plenty of time left for a mosey back to Grier’s track for a shoulder style Wolfpack Grinder:

Squats IC X 10 (once again the Q’s personal space was violated by multiple individuals – what gives?)

Run half lap – 20 CDD’s – plank for the six

Squats IC X 10 – run half lap – 30 mountain climbers – plank for the six

Squats IC X 10 – run half lap – 20 CDD’s – plank for the six (I think it was here that Short Sale took off for a Daughter event – setting a good example for putting family first.  He also successfully jumped the fence unlike YHC at a previous EC workout last year)

Squats IC X 10 – run half lap – 30 mountain climbers – plank for the six

Mosey to the picnic tables for one last bit of In Cadence reps at Grier:

Dips X 15

Step Ups X 20 (two of the PAX that will remain unnamed converted to Derkins during this set for some reason)

Derkins X 10

Rinse-Repeat sets above for a total of 2 rounds

Pushing the clock now toward 8:00 am so lets mosey back to the Flag for some quick Mary:

Flutter Kicks X 30

LBC’s X 30

Bells are ringing

Good work men.

Announcements – Prayer Requests – Name-O-Rama (Welcome FNG Cod – This might be revised)

The Moleskin

Another great morning for me as I was able to start another Saturday off with a great workout (including some EC running beforehand).  I greatly appreciate the accountability from the PAX.  F3 has provided this to me without anyone having to stay on my case (most of the time) just by the numbers that post to weekly workouts.  I have found myself wanting to get out there when possible because I know so many of you are out there each and every day.

We need to continue to EH others, ask others to get in leadership positions and keep moving the group forward.  Groups like this (or any organization) can get to a point where growth slows and stagnation can potentially creep in.  Right now some AO’s are thriving while others seem to be struggling.  Keep aware and keep pushing.  You guys are making an impact.

F3 PSA:  One other thing, when running a route that is about to be used by a Girls on the Run event, it might be a good idea to not tell the volunteers helping to set up the route that we like to “beat elementary school girls” as Qeruicdwhe did during the EC.

Be on the lookout for the 85 Podcast (put on by the Gaston Gazette). The FNG Zach Brown is the host and is podcasting about the positive things going on in Gaston County.  I subscribed tonight through iTunes and will be checking it out.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Until the next one.  Aye!

Stroganoff

The Rhino and the Elephant

11 men took their daily red pill and posted to Folsom. With several regulars missing for various reasons, still a pretty good turnout.  The conversation beforehand was epic as usual.  Did you guys know that Def Leppard ‘s name in Madarin means “get your butt down, Leppard”?   We will certainly miss Def Leppard while he’s gone.   Make it home safely, sir.

06:30 hits and it’s time to clock in.

First exercise is… The Slawter Starter.  This is always a crowd pleaser.  Next exercise is the Toy Soldiers x 10IC.

Mosey to the Amphitheater.

Every gets balls to the ball.  one by one nur out to the top and do 10 squats.   Stay in the balls to the wall position unless it’s your turn.

Repeat again except with dips.

We were going for a third time but someone crop-dusted everyone so we moved.

Incline merkins and derkins x 25 OYO.

Partner up.  P1 does 100 CDDs while P2 bear crawls then switch so P2 does 100

Then P1 does 100 incline merkins while P2 does backwards lunges.  Switch

Then P1 does 100 LBCs while P2 lunges.  Switch.

On the wall for 30 Australian Mountain climbers x 30IC

Roadie takes over.

Run… 25 LBCs.  Run… 50.  Run… 75. Run… 100. Run… 125.  Back to the tennis courts for frisbee rules football.  This is where Team Elephant beats the brakes off Team Rhino.

TIME.

COT       Announcements: warrior dash. Prayer requests: Def Leppard and his family for his upcoming trip.  Allen Tate’s mother in-law.  I think I’m missing something.  Sorry.

BOM: YHC closed in prayer.

Enjoyed it, brothers.

Day 4 of 40

No FNG’s so we started with the Pledge.

Warm-up:
20 SSH (IC)
10 Merkins(IC)

We moseyed down Riverwood Parkway and stopped at Plantation Trail and River Ridge Drive and did 20 squats at each location before heading to Gastone’s Hill (aka Village Ridge Drive)

We ran Gastone’s hill three times and at the top it was 5 burpees and at the bottom was 10 hand release Merkins (not push-ups- Thanks Whoopee)

On the way down the hill after round three, Turtleman brags and says he is going to 3 rounds running forwards and 3 rounds running backwards next Wednesday when he has the Q.  So that gave me an idea, let’s do one round backwards up the hill.  At some point we did 4 burpees and 40 LBC’s ( day 4 of 40).   Running back down the hill to a waiting 5 burpees and headed back to Plantation Trail and River Ridge Drive and did 20 squats.

We turned into the vacant office parking lot and lunged to a light pole then hopped the cement wall and circled up for 5 burpees near the dumpster.  I saw the dock next to Bellacino’s and we jumped it then bear crawled down the side.

Moseyed to the wall for 10-15-20 of dips and derkins.  Time to head back to Snoballs and Gastone closed out the program with some flutter kicks.

Thank you for allowing me to lead.

Allen Tate’s tiny sack

Yesterday we decided we would bring back our Wednesday workout.  We stopped a while back due to a lack of participation.  That’s now changed.  Folsom is full of HIMs.  It was decided that Wednesday at Folsom would be a run/ruck workout.  I received a text last night from Allen Tate that he bought a ruck sack and was ready to go.  He hops out of the truck this morning with what appeared to be a CamelBak.   #tinybabysack  After Volt informed him his bladder was upside down, it was time to clock in.

Sparky, Montross, Volt and Bedpan took off running. Medicine Woman, Allen Tate and YHC went rucking.

Not sure of the chatter from the runners, but Medicine Woman and I spent 45 minutes hearing about a tiny sack.  Allen Tate also never figured out how to use his bladder.

TIME

COT – announcements: Memorial Day 5k or Murph.  If you’re in town, and have a set, be at one of them. Prayer requests: a family Medicine Woman knows, Allen Tate’s mother-in-law, each other.

BOM: Sparky took us out.

Moleskin: I couldn’t be more proud of this group.  There was a time where Folsom was looked at as the B AO.  Everyone at Folsom is pushing hard; getting in better shape and becoming better men.

I’m proud to be a part of F3 Gastonia.  If I’ve ever posted with you, I want to thank you.  Every person I came across has pushed me in one way or another.  #ISI.  We have a great region.  Lean on your brothers. There are not just there for you at a workout. As I have found out, they are there to do life with you also.  My brothers: you have all pushed me not only physically, but spiritually and pushed me as a man.
