It’s relative

Plenty ‘o HIM showed for a Thursday at The Pub. The libations were flowing and everyone enjoyed themselves. YHC called for the relatively flat route to Pelicans and back. As you would expect there was some complaining but, upon further reflection, the PAX agreed that this route was about as flat as it gets around the Pub. You’re welcome.

Yesterdays favorites and today’s hits

It had been a long time since YHC stepped up for a bootcamp Q. The ‘ole site Q needed some bodies to sign up and today was the day. In recognition of the time between and the extended time since the PAX was blessed with musical blessings, the time had come for that too. This is what happened…

Start with the Pledge of Allegiance

No disclaimer, all experienced HIM today.

Warmup of Goofballs, Don Quixote’s, something else and even a couple of Burpees. Freight carried the JBL.

Mosey down the road to the soccer field over the hill for the first round of action. Four Corners with a regular lap, then an Escalator lap. First corner we did 10 Merkins, 2nd corner was 20 Goofballs, 3rd corner 30 Imperial Walkers and 4th corner 40 American Hammers. After the single count first lap, we escalated the 2nd lap and the burn started. It was good.

Next on the list was Dora 123. Partner up and do 100 Big Boys, 200 Dying Cockroaches and 300 LBCs. Partner 1 exercised while partner 2 ran to the fence across the field. It was good too.

Last, we moseyed back over the hill to the long, skinny parking lot for the last session, Suicide 11s. On one end we did Bobby Hurleys and the other end was V-Ups. On the in between part, do a suicide style halfway run, go back to the start then finish all the way across. Just a little extra movement but it was effective. Most of the PAX got this one done before we had to mosey back to the start. This was good.

The musical accompaniment was exceptional, according to YHC, and it helped keep the mind of the excessive ab work we did. The JBL is likely to be used more and more for sure.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead again men, I appreciate all of you!

Hope is not a plan

Cheers to a great 2022!!!

On the last day of the year, what’s left for us to do but celebrate? What better way to do that, in true F3 fashion, than to run the Inagural Beer Mile? This is what happened…

The concept is simple. Drink beer and run! Actually the rules asre as such: drink an unopened 12oz beer, run a 1/4 mile, drink another, run another 1/4 mile, drink, run, drink and run. 1 mile and 4 beers total. Sounds easy enough, right?

There were plenty of bystanders, more than the actual participants, on hand to help cheer on the athletes. Quiche happily offered to be the official timer and when he said GO, we went. The beers were popped, chugging commenced and rocks were pushed.

Some of the athletes downed their beers like it was fresh spring water. Some struggled and said it was too fizzy. One of us barely got his down, but down it went! Unfortunately, nobody spewed and suffered the cursed penalty lap. The crowd worked themselves into a frenzy all the way til the very last one was done. Everybody ran the last lap with Mayor together in victory.

Here are the results so that the next running can have a bar to strive for.

  1.  Sargento –  8:48
  2.  Freight –      10:27
  3. Short Sale – 11:30
  4. Balljoint –     12:06
  5. Ash Pond –   13:00
  6. Radar –           15:54
  7. Mayor –          20:10

All in all, it was exactly what YHC envisioned it to be, Completely Stupid and Utterly Pointless, but it was great! Everybody had fun, nobody got hurt and we got to drink beer and eat burgers. Thank you all for indulging my stupid side in grand fashion. It’s been a great year! AYE!!!

Spread the Good News

This morning it was really cold again. The HIM were out rucking, running or walking as best they can to beat the fartsack and shed the holiday pounds. All were better for posting.

Thw Word was from Luke 2:8-20 where the shepherds were told of the great news of Jesus’ birth. They left the fields to see the baby and then told everyone about it. Let’s tell everyone of this great news too!

Merry Christmas men!

Balmy, foggy and flat

We ran the all uphill bank-on-the-corner route backward today. Most of us were weary, sore slow so the two unsafe, fast guys sped away from the herd into the fog. One of them had a run-in with some mud and ended up with a skinned knee. If they had been wearing reflective gear and lights that probably wouldn’t have happened. Just saying. Safety first! YHC also sustained a flat tire en route to the AO from what appeared to be a piece of pink plastic. #cantcatchabreak Thanks to Waterboy for helping with the change out later on!

Announcements: Turtleman’s Christmas setup tonight at 5pm, Adopt a Highway Saturday after Gashouse, Bell Ringing for Salvation Army still needs 3 people (DM me if you can help)

Prayer Requests: Termite’s brother, Sargento’s dad, Chad McGee is recovering from good colon cancer treatment, Tube’s mom

Remember the disclaimer

Whoopee’s rotation of Nantans to Q at Gashouse finally landed with YHC. Too bad it wasn’t 4 weeks earlier, there would have been a little more variety. Oh well, we deal with the circumstances and move on. This is what happened…

Both the bootcamp and Painlab PAX were welcomed to the workout. A significant disclaimer was given, as much to remind myself to modify as needed as anybody else. You vs. You. Pledge of Allegiance

Warmup – Goofballs IC, Squats IC, some ab work IC

The two groups split and YHC took the bootcampers out to the road, with the JBL in tow. Short Sale had the honor of toting the jams along, thanks brother! We carefully crossed the street and headed to the circled drive at the front of the 1st Pres. for the first Thang

In honor of this numerically intersting day 11-12-22, we did 11’s. On one side to the oval we did Bobby Hurleys and at the other end we did Jump Squats. The mumblechatter was great, almost as much as the music.

Cross the road back over the the Grier driveway area for the next numerical Thang,Dora 12(3). Partner up and while partner 1 karaoke’s to the drain and back, partner 2 does 100ish Lunges, 200ish Dying Cockroaches (I think) and 300ish Overhead Claps. This was fun and the cardio was killer.

Fellowship mosey back across the street to the Baptist church where we found a brand newly paved parking lot. Gotta love it!

22’s – At one end we did Rocky Balboa’s and the other we did LBCs. This was a heart pumping cardio fest. Awesome!

We moseyed back taking a meandering mosey back, doing some lunges and skips along the way. We made it safely to the start and we wrapped up with some more goofballs for good measure. Aye!

Thanks to Whoopee for the great idea of bringing the old and new Nantans to the original AO. Ahhh, memories!

Prayer Requests: Bondo’s foot injury, Defib’s buddy who passed in New Orleans, Turtleman, Huch

Announcements: Ultimate Frisbee tournament Thanksgiving day, 2nd F lunch on Black Friday at Ray Nathan’s, Christmas Party December 3rd
