10,003

It was a perfect day for thousands of miles of running. YHC passed 10,000 miles on this run using the Nike+ app, so there’s that. There were ruckers. There were runners. We all started at 5:00. There were words said about the appropriate finish time. This is what happened…

The runners ran the route Virus put out using the map to Kevin Loftin Park, around Keener and back down to the start. We finished on time. The ruckers wandered around ruckland pontificating and finished late. Better luck next time.

Announcements: See Stogie’s latest newsletter

Prayer Requests: Montana surgery next week, Tooth Fairy’s 2.0 testing, Norwood, Turtleman, Jackson Hall, Achorman’s bone marrow donor list

Amphibious Kickball

It was a beautiful day for some recreational excitement. Most of the PAX were on time for the start but others straggled in. While we still have sunlight for the  afternoon AO, YHC decided it was time for kickball again. This is what happened.

Pledge of Allegiance (for those already gathered at the start)

Warm up

Mosey across the parking lot to play on an actual diamond. Rats, they’ve locked up the field! Mosey down the road to the back soccer field so we wouldn’t be blinded staring into the low sun. Once there, YHC asked if the PAX had any suggestions about how to play since we only had 7 in attendance. Defib suggested be “bat” with our non-dominant leg. Perfect, I love doing things amphibiously, just like Charles Shackelford. YHC called off the teams by 1s and 2s.

We did Merkins, Squats and Bigboys as the penalty for each opposing team when outs were made or runs were scored, just so we can get some extra muscular action. We rans laps and some sprints in between batting changes too.

Mid-game, none other than ‘ole Stroganoff stopped by for a visit. We tried to talk him into playing so we could have equal teams, but apparently he was required to watch his 2.1’s soccer game on the lower field. He was just there to make an appearance.

Anyway, runs were scored, welts were dealt out and even some grass burn was achieved. All in all it was fun, especially since YHCs team won despite being undermanned. You had to be there!

Mosey back to the start for COT. Thanks for the opportunity to lead men!

Announcements- Frank’s trail run 11/18, Ultimate Frisbee Thanksgiving morning, HC to Broke for Christmastown 5k (don’t register!), convergence on 12/2 with Christmas party that night at Lewis Farm, Beer Ruck 12/?, Beer mile 12/30 or 31 (TBD)

Prayer requests – Jackson Hall, Turtleman is home!, Les Nesman’s M, Happy Trees’ cousin Marty Blair

Some of Wojo’s miracle drug

The day prior marked 1 year since YHC experienced the most unfortunate event of my life. Yep, it was the one year anniversary of breaking my arm. The Lord has blessed me with a mostly full recovery, it’s still a struggle to do some things and building strength is still happening. That said, we would focus on elbow strength today. This is what happened…

Pledge of allegiance

Warm Up including Goofballs and the Patented Right over Left

Mosey to the track for The Thang

Do 10 reps of Dips, Shoulder Taps & Makhtar N’Diaye’s and then run a lap. We did this 5 times.

Next, head to the drop off lane in front of the school for some suicides with sprints. At the return of the first leg of the suicide, we did 10 Merkins, 2nd was 10 LBCs (I think), and the last one 10 jump squats. The last and longest return trip would be a sprint. So why is this BB named Wojo’s miracle drug? Because when he led Midoriyama a couple weeks ago, while YHC was still struggling with the knee problems, we did lots of sprints. The days after that, the knee pain had gone away! The next couple Q’s YHC led, we did sprints just to make sure to keep strengthening and doing whatever good the sprints do.

Goose even mentioned that his knee was hurting lately and while we did the laps of the first routine but after the sprints, the pain wasn’t there. So cool!

After the suicide sprints, we headed down to the back drive area for a quick Dora 123. Partner up and do 50 squats, 100 of something else and 150 calf raises.

Mosey back to the start for some Mary and we’re done!

Announcements: Freight’s trail run and Beer ruck coming up

Prayer Requests: Marriages, Jackson Hall, Flintstone’s student whose mom died, Turtleman, Flintstone’s family, Tesla and son

Rain can make you late

Throngs of eager PAX waited patiently for the arrival of the Q to Old School. They only had to wait about 75 seconds before YHC plowed into the lot to get the festivities under way. This is what happened…

We started with a warmup under the picnic shelter that included the Patented Right Over Left. Other stuff was done.

Mosey around the track a couple times to get the blood pumping for the first course of the Thang.

50 Squats, 100 Merkins and 150 LBCs in whatever combination and order you want. Once that was done we moseyed toward downtown, taking a pause at the fire department for a sprint break. Mosey around the courthouse block, sprinting one of the straightaways. We stopped at the dry gazebo for plenty of ab work, which included lots of American Hammers thanks to Seuss and Wiki. Get up and mosey again, throwing in a couple more sprints for good measure. Back to the gazebo for more ab work and some stretching, then a mosey back to the start.

We stretched a little more to limber up after all that sprinting. The crowd went wild with excitement.

Prayer requests: Jackson Hall, Turtleman, Broke’s daughter getting engaged

Announcements: HC for Christmastown 5k, 2nd F lunch

Assaulting Ground and taking names

There were some ruckers and some runners. It was a nice day for either. This is what happened…

The route was provided on Slack the day before by the excellent Site Q Virus and then YHC reiterated it before we headed out. The runners followed the route, the ruckers did whatever ruckers do when the wander into the gloom.

After the work was done, the runners were back where they were supposed to be AND they were on time. We waited and waited and waited and waited until YHC had to call one of the delinquent ruckers to get their location.  Apparently, it’s hard to keep good track time when rucking. Do better men. You hate to see it.

Announcements: 24 hour run Nov 4th, Beer Ruck in December, Freight’s trail race soon, 40-Day challenge NOW

Prayer Requests: Turtleman

You’re the meaning in my life. You’re the inspiration

As PAX, we are here for each other. We are the reason we get out of bed super early because, if we don’t, we’ll possibly be letting out brothers in arms down. This cannot happen. Shorty reached out a few days before 0 day asking for some help with the Q. I’m in! 6 HIM showed for the bootcamp at Gashouse. This is what happened.

Tube led the workout to kick things off. We split up and the bootcampers headed out toward the road, taking a left to the parking lot in front of Grier.

11’s – CDDs and LBCs

Mosey around the corner to the yet to be used bus drop off loop beside the school for

BOMBS (this sucked) – partner up and one guy does exercises while the other runs the loop. The exercises were:

50 Burpees, 100 Overhead Claps, 150 Merkins, 200 Bigboys, 250 Squats

Mosey up to the church parking lot for some time killing Mary then over to the other church parking lot for a round of 61-49.

Once that was done, we headed back to the start and did some more Mary until time was called. Great workout men!

Announcements: October ruck half marathon, Tuna runner needed

Prayer Requests: Turtleman, Norwood, Jackson Hall, Voodoo’s daughter

On this harvest moon

The moon was big and bright this gloom to welcome the 4 intrepid souls who weren’t afraid of the beating to come. This is what happened…

Countoff

Pledge of Allegiance

Warmup including the patented Right Over Left which is often imitated, never duplicated.

Mosey toward the bridge over the ditch for a lunge walk across. Keep moseying until we get to the back of the tall building across from the courthouse.

Four Corner Escalator:

10 Big Boys first corner

Same as 1st plus 20 CDDs

Same as 2nd corner plus 30 lunges each leg

Same as 3rd corner plus 40 plank jacks.

Mosey down the way, stopping for some wall sits, then to the new portico area at FUMC for the 9-29-23. Yep, we did 9 merkins (I think), 29 american hammers and 23 squats.

Mosey from there to the top of the parking deck taking the long way up. Head back down and to the start. Circle up for Mary until time was called.
Thanks for the opportunity to lead men!

Announcements: October ruck half marathon, 2nd F lunch coming up, Tuna needs another runner

Prayer requests: Easy Rider’s family, Turtleman, Norwood, Jackson Hall, Amazon coworker aneurism

You can go your own way!

Go your own way!!! While this was mentioned as an option by YHC, the Armory route, including the gut check, was recommended as the way to go. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance and then headed off into the gloom.

We made our way, some heading off on an alternate direction later on as a way to practice “you versus you”. In the end, everyone made it back to the start safely. Good work men, another day’s work done!

Announcements: JJ5k, October ruck, 1 more runner needed for Tuna relay, Marshall Tucker Band playing in Belmont this Saturday

Prayer Requests: Turtleman coming home soon, Norwood posted recently, Jackson Hall

Best of the Best

It was a perfect morning for a beatdown at the Yank. 10 HIM were there for the action, including Volt for a 2nd east side appearance in a row! Welcome brother, we’re always glad to have you and all other non-regulars to AO’s you don’t frequent.

Public service announcement – Just like Volt did the last couple days, its really good practice to visit AOs you may not be as familiar with, especially the HIM who you may meet there. We’re all F3 men! Get out there and meet new guys and spread the love.

There has been some recent complaining that YHC wasn’t bringing the musical accompaniment the PAX expected . Challenge accepted! Back in 2019 YHC posted on Twitter a top 100+ albums of all time. For the playlist, YHC chose the best song from each album to go with a beatdown and it was awesome.

The beatdown was fantastic as always, but today was really about the music. Lots of sweat was shed and the PAX got their money’s worth. Maybe more music will be brought in the coming weeks and months…

We finished up with a bunch of Mary and we’re done!

Announcements – JJ 5k, October ruck, Tuna 200 needs runners

Prayer requests – Norwood, Turtleman, Termite’s son, one of Tricycle’s pastor’s at City Church son passed unexpectedly
