Strong work by all that posted today.  I mentioned to the PAX that I really enjoy doing these workouts not because they are strong workouts but because it is the least thing that we can do to honor someone who gave their life for our freedom!!  Always nice to see Slaw back out!!!  Thanks again for the opportunity to lead!!

“Mark Klement” Hero WOD

11 PAX posted at the finest evening AO in F3 Nation, Midoriyama.  Since I had the Q, why not introduce the PAX to another hero that lost their life protecting and serving.  It went like this….

WARM-UP:

SSH x 20 IC

Don Q’s x 10 IC

Let’s mosey…it’s always nice to stay in a pack and hear all the mumble chatter that goes on.  We stopped at a nice grassy area to put in work.

THANG:

Tonight we honored “Mark Klement”…please take time to read about him below.

It went like this:

74 – 44 – 11 Reps of each:

  • Burpees
  • Merkins
  • Big Boy Sit-Ups
  • Squats

With time still remaining we moseyed some more around the park making our way back to the flag.

Triple nickle was called out:

One curb – Mike Tyson’s x 5

1 Burpee in the middle

Other curb – Squats x 5

1 Burpee in the middle

Rinse and repeat for 5 sets

Finally 22 for the VETS…..TIME!!!

Background: This Hero WOD is dedicated to KHK Mark Klement of the Frankfurt (Germany) Police, who was killed in the line of duty on the night of July 7, 2019.

At the time of his death, KHK Klement and his team were attempting to locate and arrest a number of wanted suspects. During a short foot chase on nearby railroad tracks, KHK Klement was struck by a freight train and killed.

“Burgess & Bondy”

8 PAX posted for a frigid November night at Midoriyama.  With Veterans Day on Monday YHC wanted to honor a couple vets that lost their lives serving.  The Hero WODs that were completed were the “Burgess” & “Bondy”.  Please take time to read about these two Heroes below.  It went like this:

Let’s mosey to the playground…

1st Hero WOD – “Burgess” :

With that complete let’s mosey around the soccer field and back to the playground…

2nd Hero WOD – “Bondy” :

20 minute AMRAP

Great work by all…the cooler temperatures are greatly appreciated!!  QIC discussed that the reason I like to do these “Hero WODs” is not because they are tough ass workouts but to honor the people that they are remembering.   I mentioned “Leave Right” and “Legacy”…how would we be remembered if something happened to us??  Think about that question and how can you make sure that you are living right and making impact with the people around you….Once again it is always a pleasure to lead and strong work by ALL!!

“Maupin” Hero WOD

15 PAX showed at Midoriyama for a pizza delivery.  Many of you know that I love to incorporate the Hero WODs in my Q’s and today would be no different.  Today we honored Keith “Matt” Maupin and it went like this….
Warm-Up:

The Thang:
Mosey to the soccer field where YHC read about Matt Maupin and discussed that he sacrificed everything for us to have freedom so we should give 110% in honor of him.  Take a moment to read it.

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Keith “Matt” Maupin, 24, of Batavia, Ohio, disappeared on April 9, 2004, when insurgents south of Baghdad attacked his convoy with small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades. His remains were found on March 20, 2008. Prior to his disappearance, Maupin served as part of the 724th Transportation Company in Bartonville, Illinois.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn; father, Keith; a brother and sister; and many other friends and family members.

Moleskin:
Once again, great work by all today!!  It’s always an honor to lead the group of men that post at Midoriyama.  I discussed “Legacy” and asked each of the PAX, what would people remember you for if today was your last day?  I try each day to be a better husband, father, and all around man!!  I trust that the Lord has my ultimate path and I need to continue to put all faith in him.  Thanks again for the opportunity to lead, until next time….Pizza Man is OOOOOUUUUUTTTTTTT!!
