Tour of Page Primary School

We started off running…all the way to Page Primary School.  It was a little over a mile warmup.  Once we got to the school we found a nice brick wall and did a 60 second wall sit.  Moseyed around to the back of the school for some Corewood that consisted of:

  • LBCs
  • Crunchy Frogs
  • Dying Cockroaches
  • American Hammers
  • A round of protractors where each pax called out an angle and counted to 10

Then we did a Route 66 with merkins along the parking spots.

Back to the wall for a 60 second wall sit.

Moseyed around to the front of the building for a Dora 1-2-3 where YHC challenged the pax to partner up with someone they didn’t know well.  We did 100 shoulder taps, 200 LBCs, 300 squats for the exercises.

Back to the wall for a 60 second wall sit.

Pledge.

Mosey back to the bottom of Hawthorne for a triple nickel.  Monkey Humpers at the bottom, plank jacks at the top.

Mosey to the yank to finish.

Of course, there were trivia questions sprinkled in throughout the workout.

Warm November Morning at the Yank

YHC got to The Yank a little early to set up and fact check some of the trivia questions.  There was already a guy there.  I didn’t recognize him, but he had an F3 shirt on so I new he was not foe.  It was Carrier who came across the mighty Catawba to join us for a beatdown and pick up some shoes from BOS.

Quick disclaimer since there were no FNGs.  Like I normally do, I let the pax know there was going to be some trivia for them this morning.  A question would be asked.  Exercise ensues.  An answer would be given.  If that answer was correct, we just keep on moving.  If that answer was wrong, 5 burpees for everyone.  I was a little nervous when I saw Sargento show up, since I’m not sure he’s ever gotten one of my trivia questions wrong before.  The dude is a walking, talking encyclopedia.

Mosey the long way around to the pavilion for some Corewood.  We did 25 of each exercise on my count:
– LBCs
– Crunchy Frogs
– Pretzel Crunches
– Freddy Mercuries
– Leg Raises
– American Hammers

Mosey to the pit where I had written several exercises in chalk in parking spaces.  The pax needed to do 25 of each exercise then run a lap around the pit.  Some of the exercises included:
– Merkins
– Lunges
– SSHs
– Diamond Merkins
– Hill Billies
– Bobby Hurleys

There were more and I had them all written down on my weinke, but my M threw it away.

Mosey up near the field of dreams.  Pax had to do the following exercises – pull ups, merkins, dips and one lap around the track.  Started with 5 pull ups, 10 merkins and 15 dips for the first round.  Second round we went up to 10 pull ups, 20 merkins and 30 dips.  For the third round, the weinke had us going up to 15, 30 and 45 but I heard a little mumble chatter asking to go back down after the second round instead of up on the reps.  So we ended up doing 5, 10 and 15 for the third round.

We then did some Dora 1, 2, 3.  It really only ended up being a Dora 1, 2, 1 since we were running low on time.  100 Merkins, 200 Squats, 100 LBCs.

Mosey back to where we started for our COT and pledge.

Prayer concerns:
– Brutus’ M having surgery

Announcements:
– PT Test next week at Gashouse
– BCO takes donations for gifts for kids for Christmas
– Carrier thanked the pax for all of the shoe donations

It was a lot of fun, men.  Thank you!

Another Trivia Session

When 0700 hit the ruckers were already an hour into their workout.  So a quick disclaimer and we we off.

Mosey to parking lot by Nellie’s for some corewood.  25 of each of the following:

  • Windshield wipers
  • Crunch Frogs
  • Freddy Mercuries
  • Dying Cockroaches
  • American Hammers
  • One other one – but I can’t remember what it was now

Mosey to the pit for a variation of four corners.  We did six exercises and in corner 1 we did 5 reps, corner 2 we did 10 reps, corner 3 we did 15 reps and corner 4 we did 20 reps.  The exercises were:

  • Merkins
  • Squats
  • Werkins
  • Jump Squats
  • Diamond Merkins
  • Bobby Hurleys

Mosey to the pavilion in Stowe Park.  In any order the pax wanted to do them in we did 5 pull ups, 10 step ups, 15 dips and one lap around the track.  Rinse and repeat 2 more times.

Over to the field of dreams for a Dora 1-2-3.  100 merkins, 200 squats, 300 LBCs.

Mosey back to The Yank to catch the pledge.  Still had about 60 seconds so Sargento had us end with flutter kicks.

By this time the ruckers were finishing and met up with us in time for announcements and prayer requests.

Like most of my Qs I had 10 trivia questions sprinkled throughout.  If the pax got the question wrong we all had to do 5 burpees.  Luckily, this was a bright group of guys and they got 6 of the 10 questions right, so we only had to do the burpees 4 times!

It was an honor to lead, men.

Lots of Activities

Lambskin and I came in hot at 0659.  I woke him up when I called him from his driveway at 0645.  He threw on a t-shirt and shorts and headed out to the gloom.  T-shirt may not have been the best choice since the temp was around freezing.  Meeting us there was a group of pax including an FNG I had been EHing for a while.  Also, Tiny Tank was back from the beach for a beatdown!

Full disclaimer was given for the FNG.  But he already knew I was an idiot.

Mosey over to the parking lot on Glenway for some corewood.  I had all of the activities written on my weinke, but my M threw it away before I was able to write this backlast so I don’t remember all of them.  I’m sure crunchy frogs was one of the activities during corewood.

Like I usually do I sprinkled some trivia questions in throughout the workout.  The pax would have some time to deliberate on an answer.  If they got the question right, we would move on to the next activity.  If they got it wrong, we all had to do five burpees.  They got the first few questions right, so I tried to dial up the level of difficulty.  But to no avail, these guys were on their trivia game.

Mosey to the Field of Dreams for an accumulator.  From what I can recall the activities during the accumulator were SSHs, squats, merkins, shoulder taps, LBCs and one or two others.  The way it worked was we did one activity for 60 seconds, took a lap.  Did a new activity for 60 seconds then the first activity for 60 seconds, took a lap…  I think we did about 6 rounds.

Mosey to the fountain for some Mary.  Since I couldn’t trip this group of geniuses up on any of my trivia, which meant no burpees, the first thing Boudin called for in Mary was 10 burpees.

Fellowship mosey to the Yank where we explained to the FNG the five core principles.

Dorawood

Ten men showed up in the gloom for a beatdown at The Goat.  I started with a disclaimer.  All vets, so it was quick.  I also brought some trivia.  It was explained that a question would be asked, the pax would have some time to discuss and come up with an answer.  If the answer was correct, we just move on in the workout.  If the answer was wrong, everyone had to do five burpees.  Before I could get out the entire first question, Anchorman said the answer.  I knew I had to dial up the degree of difficulty for this group.

We moseyed across the two bridges to the far parking lot for some Corewood.  Twenty five reps of each of the following:

-Crunchy Frogs
-Leg Lifts
-LBCs
-Freddy Mercuries
-American Hammers

We then did four corners in the parking lot.  The four exercises we did were merkins, jump squats, LBCs and flying squirrels.  The first round was 10 reps, the second round was 15 reps and the third round was 20 reps.

Next we partnered up and did a Dora 1-2-3.  100 CDDs, 200 lunges and 300 side straddle hops.  The other pax would run the length of the parking lot and back.

We moseyed back to the pavilion near the starting point.  Started a triple nickel, but due to time it ended up being a triple triple.  Pull ups in the pavilion, run up the hill for squats.

Slow mosey back to the parking lot.

Corewood Trivia

At 0530 YHC gave a quick disclaimer and said there would be some trivia in the workout.  A question would be asked and after a little time for deliberation the pax would have to give an answer.  If it was correct we just moved on to the next exercise.  If it was wrong, everyone had to do 5 burpees.  Dolph wished he had his phone to get some assistance from Google on the trivia questions, but that wasn’t allowed.

The warmup was a mosey to the traffic circle for some Corewood.  Buckeye knew it was coming.  We did 25 of each of the following exercises:

American Hammers
Crunchy Frogs
Pretzel Crunches (each side)
Dying Cockroaches

Mosey to the front of the school for some wall sits and merkins.  We did a 30, 40, 50 and 60 second wall sit with 10 merkins in between each wall sit rep.  Headcase saved us all from 5 burpees with his Larry Bird knowledge.

Mosey to the main parking lot and partnered up for Dora 1-2-3.  Pax 1 did the exercise and Pax 2 moseyed around the first island in the parking lot.

100 shoulder taps
200 jump squats
300 LBCs

Mosey around the parking lot to the other parking lot adjacent to the tennis quarts for triple nickel.  Lunges on one end and diamond merkins on the other.  Due to time it really only ended up being a triple triple.

Mosey back to where we started for the COT.

You boys know your car and basketball trivia, but not so good on your Disney movies and women’s world cup trivia.  It didn’t help that Sargento wasn’t there to get all of the questions right, like he usually does.

Dropping Knowledge

We had 15 pax show up in the gloom for a beatdown.

All vets, so a quick disclaimer was given.  YHC then said I had some trivia this morning.  The way it works is I ask the question and give the pax some time to come up with a final answer.  If they get it right, we move on to the next exercise.  If they get it wrong, we all do 5 burpees then move on to the next exercise.

We moseyed around the parking lot up to the school for some wall sits and hip slappers.

YHC called for a 30 second wall sit followed by 10 hip slappers (or merkins if you preferred).  Then a 40 second wall sit and 10 hip slappers.  Then 50 second wall sit and 10 hip slappers.  Finally and 60 second wall sit and 10 hip slappers.

Sargento nailed the answer to the first trivia question, so I was thinking I may have to dial up the intensity of these questions!

Short mosey over to the tennis courts for The Accumulator.

The way it works is we do exercise 1 for 60 seconds then short lap around the tennis nets.  Trivia question.  We do exercise 2 for 60 seconds, exercise 1 for 60 seconds then short lap around the tennis nets.  Trivia question.  We do exercise 3 for 60 seconds, exercise 2 for 60 seconds, exercise 1 for 60 seconds…you get the idea.

The exercises were as follows:

Exercise 1 – SSHs
Exercise 2 – Shoulder Taps
Exercise 3 – Lunges
Exercise 4 – American Hammers
Exercise 5 – CDDs
Exercise 6 – Jump Squats

From the trivia questions we learned Wanderer knows his movies, Dr. Seuss’s literacy knowledge came in handy and Anchorman knows a lot more about the US Dept of Energy than I would have thought.

Fellowship mosey over to the “flag” that we didn’t have since school isn’t in session yet.  The flag on Gold Digger’s shirt was a good substitute.

Then it was time for a little Corewood.  While on their six, each pax would call out an angle for protractors and everyone would hold for a ten count.  We made it around the circle.

Time for one final trivia question.  It was wrong.  5 burpees.

Thanks men, great work this morning!

I Got It, You Take It!

There were 19 on the schedule to Q this morning, but ultimately YHC showed up with biggest weinke and was given the honor.

Keesh and Pizza Man were finishing a run, but were scared when they found out YHC had the Q and backed down.

We moseyed to Hawthorne for a triple nickel.  Burpees at the bottom and monkey humpers at the top.  Flush, Tool Time and Boudin all thought it was a triple triple, but were quickly corrected.

Then we moseyed to the back of the middle school for a little wall work.  It went something like this:

30 second wall sit
10 hip slappers
40 second wall sit
10 hip slappers
50 second wall sit
10 hip slappers
60 second wall sit
10 hip slappers

Then we partnered up and did some Dora 1-2-3 with a couple extra exercises, so essentially some Dora 0.1-0.25-1-2-3:

10 pullups (each)
25 leg throws (each)
100 merkins (combined)
200 squats (combined)
300 LBCs (combined)

It was now time for some Corewood!  Tool Time did some “back seat driving” and was highly critical of how YHC ran this portion of the beat down.  Here are the exercises we did:

Crunchy Frog
Heels to Heaven
Pretzel Crunches
Dying Cockroaches
American Hammers
Freddy Mercuries
Protractors

Short mosey back to the flag for the pledge where Pizza Man met up with us after what I believe was his SECOND run this morning!

Being that this was the last workout of 2017 at the Yank, I decided to mix in some 2017 trivia.  Some things we learned – The one hockey question I had was answered correctly, but not by Tool Time.  Tool Time thought Bitcoin showed a 1,792,632% gain during the year.  And the pax do not know their horse racing.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

With it being early fall I decided to try a football-themed beatdown.  Sorta hard to do being that I knew we probably wouldn’t be running routes and tackling.  Although, doing an Oklahoma Drill definitely crossed my mind.

We had one FNG who apparently Keash knew, but had no clue who this Queeche guy was.  Full disclaimer was given for his benefit, letting him know I’m an idiot.

Warmup:

  • SSHs
  • Don Quixotes
  • Goofballs

Pledge

We then moseyed up to the football field for a double quarter pounder with cheese.  It was supposed to be done on a football field, so I felt it went along with my football theme, right??? It went something like this – run to the 25 yard line and do 25 merkins.  Run backwards to the end line.  Run to the 50 yard line and do 50 squats.  Run backwards to the end line.  Run to the 75 yard line and do 75 mountain climbers.  Run backwards to the end line.  Run to the other end line and do 100 SSHs.  Run backwards to the end line.  Plank for the six.

Easy mosey around the track.

Then the double portion of the double quarter pounder with cheese.  It included 25 jump squats, 50 LBCs, 75 Moroccan Nightclubs and 10 burpees.

Easy mosey around the track.

We then did the Panther Pounder.  We would jog in place, but would mix in some high knees and butt kickers too, and YHC would call out either burpee or merkin and we would drop and do whatever was called out.  During this odd version of Simon Says we found there really wasn’t much of a  difference between the two when starting in an upright position.

We moseyed down to the pavilion for some Corewood.  60 seconds AMRAP with 30 seconds rest in between each one.  Here are the exercises I can remember:

  • Crunchy Frogs
  • American Hammers
  • Protractors
  • Flutter Kicks

We headed down the hill for a Triple Nickel.  Monkey Humpers at the bottom and WWII sit-ups at the top.

We had 3 minutes left and I tried to call it, but the pax wouldn’t have it and we did three rounds of Mary.  Broke called for dips, Kuiche called for Freddie Mercurys and Sargento called something else.  I don’t remember what.

During the workout I mixed in some football trivia.  When I let the pax know I planned on doing that Keeshe started yelling out random former Buffalo Bills (“oh oh Jim Kelly, uhh Thurman Thomas, uhh Don Beebe…”).  None of them were correct.  We learned Sargento is a walking talking football encyclopedia and at times I was having to Omaha mid-question because he was answering before I could finish.  Next time, Sargento, my questions won’t be so easy!

Tiny Tank’s Favorite Things

Being that this was Tiny Tank’s last F3 workout as a resident of Gaston County, I wanted to pay homage to him.  Or, as Wheezy would put it, do this in his memory.  So I tried to do some of the things we’ve become accustomed to during Tiny Tank’s Qs.

We started promptly at 0530.  No warmup, as is typical with a Tiny Tank beatdown.  Batan Death March out to the main road.  Basically an indian run where the last man drops and does 5 merkins before running to the front of the line.

We moseyed to the front of the school for the main part of the workout – The Accumulator.  Here’s the way it works; do exercise 1 for 60 seconds, then 30 seconds of rest.  Do exercise 2 for 60 seconds, exercise 1 for 60 seconds, then 30 seconds of rest.  Do exercise 3 for 60 seconds, exercise 2 for 60 seconds, exercise 1 for 60 seconds, then 30 seconds of rest…

Exercise 1 – burpees
Exercise 2 – squats
Exercise 3 – merkins
Exercise 4 – crunchy frogs
Exercise 5 – SSHs
Exercise 6 – shoulder taps
Exercise 7 – CDDs

During the 30 seconds of rest each pax took turns telling 2 truths and a lie.  We learned YHC did not work at a pet grooming boutique shop, Gilligan left a date at Waffle House, Dr Suess likes going to presidential libraries, Tiny Tank visited 20 countries while in Germany (I still don’t know how that’s possible), Tesla is bothered when other’s put themselves first and Dolph never played football.

I Omahaed and cut out a few exercises on the last set of The Accumulator so that we had enough time to do the last thing.

We did a slow mosey around the parking lot and I chanted an Airborne Ranger song I knew and they chanted back.  That took all of about 30 seconds, so Dolph, Tiny Tank and Tesla picked me up with some running chants they knew.  We circled back to the flag to finish the workout.
