Mayor’s Favorite at PainLab

Pretty Good turn out this chilly morning at Gashouse.  Bedpan started everyone off with a warmup before we split up into our respective groups.  Bedpan took the Gashouse crew off on a mosey and 8  PainLab brave joined me in the parking lot near the picnic tables.  While we were walking over, Mayor asked if we were doing that stupid boxing round workout again.   I assured him we were, after all I replied on slack in the mumblechtter that we were visiting an old friend…   We grouped up and I explained the routine.

  • 10 X (L) Kettlebell Clean
  • 10 X Kettlebell Swing
  • 10 X (R) Kettlebell Clean
  • 10 X Kettlebell Swing
  • 10 X Around the world
  • 10 X Overhead Press
  • 10 X Around the world
  • 10 X Overhead Press
  • 10 X Renegade Lunge OR 10 X Goblet Squat
  • 10 X Kettlebell Swing

These were done in three-minute rounds, 12 of them to be exact, with a one-minute break between.  The mumblechatter was flowing and the Pax put in some excellent work.  Yes, not all of us completed all 10 exercises in the three minutes some picked up where they left off some started over, but the work was indeed put in this morning.   Afterwards we met the Gashouse crew at the shovel flag for the pledge and announcements.  At this point I realized I didn’t make note of the pax in attendance so i began making a list for myself so I have to admit I missed the announcements.   See Bedpan’s BB for those.   Bedpan took us out in prayer.

After the COT, Mayor informed me that if the next time I have the Q we do this one again, hes just leaving.    I told him we were and would compare the two for improvement… jokingly…. or maybe not who knows.  I may call his bluff.

Thank you for the opportunity

Humbly, ~ HAJ

Blue one’s heavy…

Having the Q for Pain Lab I arrived a bit early to set up.   It was a cold morning; pretty sure I’ve posted on colder mornings, but I can’t say for certain.  Temp check at about 0630hrs was a balmy 34 degrees.  No time like the present, got out of the car and set up for Pain Lab.

Time to start.  Circle up JJ with the Q at Gashouse, Pledge, he led us through warmups… then we break.

Pain Lab

We were on the lower end of the parking lot for AMRAP stations.

The timer was a sandbag carry and swap.  2 sandbags, one orange, one blue.  Carry one sandbag across the parking lot, I don’t remember the exact distance, it was several parking spaces.  Drop it pick up the other one and go back to where you started drop it.  then everyone rotates… by the way, blue one’s heavy.

STATIONS: Goblet Squat, Big Boys or LBC’s, Curl to Overhead Press, PAX  Choice, Reverse Lunge, Kettle Bell Swing.   (pick your preferred coupon at each station requiring one)

We went for an hour…  good times were had by all.  Circled back up for Name O Rama and COT.

I didn’t take good notes, and don’t recall the announcements / prayer requests.  I’ll do better next time.

HAJ.

Prize Fight at the PainLab

There was a large turn out to the site this morning, due to the Q vs Q at Gashouse.  PainLab joined in the warmup lead by Sister Act which consisted of 10 X SSH, 5 burpees, 10 X Hillbillies, 5 burpees, 10 X  Gravelpickers, then the Gashouse guys took off and PainLab headed over to the area of the parking lot by the picnic tables for the workout.

6 other HIM’s dared to join me for a total of 7 at PainLab .  No FNG’s so the disclaimer was short.  I then began to explain the workout.  It was based around fighting sports.  Scholastic wrestling has 3 X 3 Minute Rounds, MMA has 3 or 5 X 3-minute rounds, amateur boxing has 8 or 10 X 3-minute rounds.  Professional boxing currently has 12 X 3-minute rounds.   Today’s workout was simple… I didn’t say easy, I said simple.

  • 10 X (L) Kettlebell Clean
  • 10 X Kettlebell Swing
  • 10 X (R) Kettlebell Clean
  • 10 X Kettlebell Swing
  • 10 X Around the world
  • 10 X Overhead Press
  • 10 X Around the world
  • 10 X Overhead Press
  • 10 X Renegade Lunge OR 10 X Goblet Squat
  • 10 X Kettlebell Swing

After explaining what the set was, I then mentioned that it should take about 3 minutes to complete after which we would take a 1-minute rest then do it all again.  This is where I mentioned we were doing 12 rounds.   After a minute of me fumbling with my phone to get the timer and the music started, we were off.

There was plenty of chatter, and the mumbling increased as the rounds counted down.   I was asked at one point if I had only done this on paper or if I had actually done this workout.  I have done this before but had to admit I had never done a full 12 rounds before.  After round 3 Voodoo was saying it was okay to audible and no one would judge me.   It was all okay though everyone loved this workout.  Tube enjoyed it so much he even skipped one of the breaks and pushed right through, a true HIM.  He also loved it so much he asked if I wanted to Q again.  He says he has a spot for me in 2024…    After round 5 or 6 an audible was called and we took a leisurely stroll around the parking lot which ate up one of the three-minute rounds.  After the break we finished out the remaining rounds.  With a few minutes left we had around of Mary for stretches.   I did a quick Name o Rama so I would remember who to list in attendance and then the bells sounded, and we joined Gashouse for the COT.

Before the COT the voting for the Q vs Q took place, since Painlab guys didn’t get to vote I wasn’t paying all that much attention, but if memory serves, Sister Act got beat worse than TCU in the National Title Game, Congratulations Short Sale.  Then the announcements, Prayer Requests, and Short Sale took us out in prayer.

Thank you Tube for the opportunity to lead. Thank you to the HIM who pushed with me today and thank you to the HIM who posted elsewhere.  It is all of you that get me out most mornings.

Also thank you to Flintstone who created the pushing rocks challenge which I have used as a springboard to get back into F3.

Prayer Requests: Flintstone’s dad beginning radiation treatment.

Announcements: Speed for Need at the community foundation run. If you are pushing notify Broke, Relay running event at the Whitewater Center, See Flintstone for details.

I Swear, I CAN count… I think… maybe.

After a BULLDOG , Hipaa made the announcement he was looking for people to Q for the month of March… I told him I would look at my work schedule and let him know.   A bit later several days as I’m scrolling through the Twitter Feed I see he is still asking for people to step up and Q so I remember I never let him know anything and said I would take a day.

Now I’m in a jam I gotta make a Weinke.  So I begin sorting it out.  Inspired by a prior Bulldog Q’d by Hipaa involving a 300 Challenge, I think to myself;  that was good, I can come up with something like that… So I looked at his back blast to get the rep counts to give me an Idea of where to go with it.

I make the list.  I count the reps multiple times,  it is done… the Bulldog 300 Challenge (Part 2).  Night before I make the list on a poster board so that It will be a little easier to read… it wasn’t much better, also its not 300 Reps… Its 320… so i count again and again and again its 320 … So its morphed into the Bulldog 300+ Challenge.

Day of… I explain the inability to count correctly and the creation of the 300+ Challenge…   Oh yeah, We celebrate St. Patricks Day a little early with the play list.

Pledge, NO FNG No Disclaimer.

WARM UP… SSH X 10 only, I miss the  expressive cadence letting everyone know were done,  Imperial Walkers X 15 was supposed to be 10 but I realized i missed the expressive cadence so i went to 15 and included it.  Moroccan night clubs X 10… I miss the expressive cadence again and Hipaa calls me out by continuing until i physically told him i messed up the count and he could stop.    All in good fun.   I swear I can count.

The Bulldog 300+ Challenge

40 – Goblet Squat

20 – Tricep Press or Kickback (R)

25 – Kettlebell Swing

20 – Tricep Press or Kickback (L)

20 – Sumo Squat (Low Slow Squat with Wide stance)

10 – Calf Raises

25 – Kettlebell Curl (R)

25 – Kettlebell Curl (L)

15 – Squat Press (R)

15 – Squat Press (L)

10 – Goblet Squat

20 – LBC

5 – Squat Press (L)

5 – Squat Press (R)

25 – Kettlebell Swing

20 – Pretzel Crunch (L)

20 – Pretzel Crunch (R)

TOTAL 320 Reps.  Knowing this would not eat all of our time I offered up the choice to the PAX, go through it again or Pax Choice… Pax Choice it is…. I do not remember everything called here.  I do know the total Rep count went much higher than it was and everyone put in good work

It’s Technically Not Cheating

A few weeks ago during some mumble chatter I commented that it would be two weeks before I could Post here again and the date 1-15-19 was mentioned as the next time I could post at BULLDOG.   A certain Pax who will remain nameless, but his initials are Rudolph, says “Oh you’re going to Q then?”   Long story short –  YHC had my VQ today along with 6 Hims who met in the gloom for BULLDOG.

As we started I pulled out the Weinke along with the F3 Workout Deck and announced that since this was my VQ I cheated… we were using the workout deck.

Warm Up:

SSH X 20 IC

Imperial Walkers X 14 ( Apparently in my zeal to get to The Thang YHC stopped counting early)

Moroccan Night Clubs X 15 IC

Thang:

Used the workout deck: Each Pax draws a card, High Card Wins.  Winner calls the workout and Count.  Explained how ties were broken.  Aces were automatic:  Do what the card says for the reps the card says, which by the way is 100.   At this point it gets a little hazy. Cant remember the count or all the exercises that were called, but mumble chatter at one point had us somewhere in the range of at least 325 total SSH, 300 Arm Circles, and a couple hundred calf raises… There were others; Squats, Merkins, LBCs, Big Boy Sit Ups, and courtesy of Sister Act – BURPIES!  There was more but I really cant remember all of them.  Everyone put in good work and hopefully got something out of it.

COT:

Announcements: Discussed Q source locations and times (Sundays following Coconut Horse / Crossroads)

Broke took us out in Prayer.
