Dora the Explorer

17 HIM showed up for what I thought would be a simple, yet challenging workout … consisting of 15 regulars, 1 FNG and 1 runner, which should have just stayed with the group … because we did a light mosey!?

Due to time … we had to shorten Dora 3

Mosey to the Flag

If you’re keeping score at home … That’s 3 Dora’s as in Dora, Dora, Dora … the Explorer. On the way back to the Flag … we stopped and I explained that in Dora there is a villain named Swiper and a saying that goes like this … “Swiper, No Swiping!” To me … at an F3 workout, the villain is “the burpee” … so we had to stop for “Burpees, No Burpees!” I intended to do burpees at every light pole … but due to time we did 5 and moseyed back.

We arrived short of the flag, to find FIA occupying the area … so we stopped for 1 minute of Mary. Eh Ya’ll calls “Pickle Pointers” in Cadence as FIA jogs by … not awkward at all!!!

We get back to the flag as time expires … to realize that we covered almost 4.5 miles on this “Dora the Explorer” workout! We also got to name an FNG that I EH’d last Sunday … who ended up being named “Dingo” … so I guess to stay with the them, “Go Dingo Go!”

The Word

I read Acts 2:42-47 as we moved from church to church … to attempt to offer a chance to catch our breath. This passage is a snapshot of the early church  … a picture of what God intended the church to be … a body of believers worshiping and working … living and loving … serving and sacrificing … together!

I truly believe that is also a snapshot of F3 … Brothers doing life together. We are better … together!

Pause for The Word

Mark 5:25 speaks of a woman with an issue of blood who had spent all she had seeking help from every doctor she could find, with no relief. She hears that Jesus is coming to town and believes that if she can get close enough to “touch the hem of His garment” she will be made whole. We all have issues and yes, you should seek advice of your F3 Brothers, seek help from professionals … but before you do any of that, seek Jesus, and be made whole!

Like a lot of preachers I know … I had a workout prepared and ready all week, but woke up this morning with another idea on my mind and my heart. I made a decision that I would go with my plan unless there was an even number of PAX … and then I would switch to the new plan. I arrive and there are 6 PAX, so the new plan it is … until Red Ribbon emerges from the dark to make it 7 … so its the planned plan, let’s circle up! Hold up … what’s this … CPap pulls in last minute to make it 8 PAX … so it’s on to the new plan, which is a repeat performance of my VQ in Mt Hollywood a couple years back!

it was a cold morning in Dallas as 12 HIM assembled for a “1 to 10 to 1” workout! I arrived 15 minutes early to see SA’s truck parked all by itself … so I took a lap around the track for a pre-warmup. I had worked out several scenarios of how this would all take place and settled in on a plan as Scribbles and I were driving to The Goat! I knew what exercise and how many reps but wasn’t sure on where we would go for each and every set … I just knew that I wanted to sweat and sweat a lot!

The Warmup

With apologies to SA for an extended warmup … but we will get through it rather quickly in a 10 to 1 descending fashion!

Lets Mosey around the Block to the Top of the Parking Deck!

At the top of the deck, I explained that we would run down and around the deck completing a series of exercises in a descending order from 10 to 1 ending at the bottom of the deck and then climbing the stairs to rinse and repeat … dropping 1 exercise off each cycle until we were down to only 1 exercise!

It went something like this… Round 1

Top Level … Run to the next lower level

Next Level … 10 Squats at one end and 9 Big Boys at the other end. Run to the next lower level.

Next Level … 8 Bonnie Blairs at one end and 7 Burpees at the other end. Run to the next lower level.

Next Level … 6 Flutter Kicks at one end and 5 Mtn Climbers at the other end. Run to the next lower level.

Next Level … 4 Merkins at one end and 3 Plank Jacks at the other end. Run to the next lower level.

Ground Level … 2 Squat Jumps at one end and 1 Hand Release Merkin at the other end. Climb the stairs to the top.

Round 2 … Top Level, run to the next lower level  skipping 10 and going to 9 Big Boys. Run to the next lower level … rinse and repeat all the way to the Ground Level. Climb back to the Top!

Round 3 … Top Level, run to the second lower level skipping 10 and 9 and going to 8 Bonnie Blairs. Run to the next exercise … rinse and repeat all the way to the Ground Level. Climb back to the Top!

Round 4-10 … Rinse and Repeat, skipping one more exercise until you are down to only 1 Hand Release Merkin.

Needless to say … we got a good bit of running in up and down the deck while completing 10 Squats, 18 Big Boys, 24 Bonnie Blair’s, 28 Burpees, 30 Flutter Kicks, 30 Mtn Climbers, 28 Merkins, 24 Plank Jacks, 18 Squat Jumps, and 10 Hand Release Merkins.

We moseyed back to the pavilion for a total of right at 3 miles in time for 60 seconds of SSH’s!
